Hello,
I currently have an outdoor/deck speaker setup that I really want to add a subwoofer to.
My current deck only (separate from HT) setup is....
Receiver: Yamaha 2092
Amp: Adcom GFA-5200
External Volume Control: Niles WVC100E
Speakers: one pair of Boston Acoustics Voyager Pro
The setup is definitely a bit dated, but works very well for what it is, just needs some low end.
The subwoofer I'm thinking of buying is:
Polk Audio AM3386-A Atrium Sub10
This sub seems to be able to be wired like another set of speakers, it has two drivers and is wired like a right/left channel.
I've looked around for a while and there are not really many choices. I am VERY open to suggestions.
If I was to go with this sub (or one similar), my main question is about wiring.
My amp only has a single set of speaker outputs. I am not adverse to getting another volume control know that will take one set in and send to two speaker sets out.
OR can I run both wires off of the current knobs out?
I really like the quality of the Niles knob and they don't offer a one-in and multi-out. The Niles WVC100E doesn't seem to have the physical space to even support this idea of putting two sets of wires in its output.
I have seen other knobs out there that do appear to have this capability, for a fraction of the price actually, but I'm concerned about their quality.
I am not clear on the best way to wire the adding of a sub. Looking to use as much of my current setup as possible, but if I have to get something new I will. Tho I believe I have enough power to supply the sound and hoping not to run any more wires from inside the house to the volume knob.
Any advice would truly be appreciated! I'm looking to get this set up in time for a party the first weekend of June.
thank you for your help!
