So since I do the web/pc stuff around here, my boss set me on a task to figure out if we can realistically implement some sort of "digital display" in our store front windows.
Well, looking around it seems we could do some sort of rear projection lcd display -- something over 3,000 lumens, with a short throw, and a high contrast, but that doesn't seem to answer the question, will it be visible during the day?
I also considered stacked televisions with the image running across all the screens, but that added up to a lot of TV's real quick.
The plate glass is facing a 4-lane road with no appreciable trees or awning to create shade. And in the afternoon, the sun is pointing right at those windows. I'm thinking the cost would be prohibitive - I mean, how could we make a display bright enough to be seen by a person on the sidewalk ? Still, we would markedly set ourselves apart from the competition if we could pull it off.
I posted here in the under 3,000 dollar range as that is probably all he would be willing to spend on a projector (because of the additional cost of adding another computer and a projection screen). Does anyone know if this fabled unicorn exists? If not, maybe an old grey mare we could pop a conical hat on?
I also read of anti-glare film and was wondering if adding that component (at around 800 a window!!) would improve our results. If anyone's done this successfully, I'd love to hear what it took in the way of items and costs. Thanks!
