Store Window Display?

So since I do the web/pc stuff around here, my boss set me on a task to figure out if we can realistically implement some sort of "digital display" in our store front windows.

Well, looking around it seems we could do some sort of rear projection lcd display -- something over 3,000 lumens, with a short throw, and a high contrast, but that doesn't seem to answer the question, will it be visible during the day?

I also considered stacked televisions with the image running across all the screens, but that added up to a lot of TV's real quick.

The plate glass is facing a 4-lane road with no appreciable trees or awning to create shade. And in the afternoon, the sun is pointing right at those windows. I'm thinking the cost would be prohibitive - I mean, how could we make a display bright enough to be seen by a person on the sidewalk ? Still, we would markedly set ourselves apart from the competition if we could pull it off.

I posted here in the under 3,000 dollar range as that is probably all he would be willing to spend on a projector (because of the additional cost of adding another computer and a projection screen). Does anyone know if this fabled unicorn exists? If not, maybe an old grey mare we could pop a conical hat on?

I also read of anti-glare film and was wondering if adding that component (at around 800 a window!!) would improve our results. If anyone's done this successfully, I'd love to hear what it took in the way of items and costs. Thanks!

It 's going to be tough to see with full daylight hitting the screen. Plus, for rear projection to even have a chance of working, the area behind the screen must be completely dark.

Not gonna happen during the day. No way no how. At night use a cheap pull down windowshade from lowes or Home depot. They have 6 foot ones that sell for around 30.00. Make sure you get the filtering and not the sun blocking shades. Reverse the image and you should be good to go.

Plan B,, get a 52 to 60 inch LCD TV or Display. Maybe an old Plasma. This should be much visible during the day. Check local craigs lists for one. Do the checking and find the most reliable model. If you can get an older one that was a commercial display even better. Most of the newer model home ones are crap.

Good Luck

Thanks Bohanna. I was actually looking at old plasmas - looks to be the best way to go for this.

I love the idea of the lowe's pull down shade for night time though. I want to do that one!

Thanks for the help!
