Official Sharp LC-90LE745U Discussion Thread [No Price Talk] d - Page 17

I was not paying attention when the 80's came out, did they drop a lot in price since they were released? Just trying to extrapolate what might happen with the 90.
I see a number of online sites now offering the 90" for around $8279. I wonder if it's starting to come down in price.
I see that as well but I would be leery of those sellers AND the set is still about 2k too expensive
post #484 of 1357
I also noticed the lower price for some sellers.....

I checked reseller ratings on them and they were very good. Above 9 out of 10.

Still stuck on deciding between the 90", 80", or go with Mits for much cheaper.
I had a Mits 82" and it was a perfect size but it just didn't have the brightness the LED has. But still great prices on the Mits DLP's.

Went by my local BB this morning to see if the 90" had come down in price and it hadn't of course.

However I did show them an online site that has stores and their price was $8245 and asked if they would match. They called the manager over and after some talking and hand wringing they said they would. I was very surprised to say the least, and they said they are not really supposed to sell under the Sharp price. However he said he would match the price.

Interesting.

And you didn't buy the display ?? rolleyes.gif
post #488 of 1357
yeah you should have bought it !!!!!!!
First I have to sell my TV. Have an Elite 70", not easy to sell without a big loss.
Aren't you affraid of loosing those blacks?
Yeah but size wins. The blacks didn't look that bad on the 90" today. But the Elite still has a better picture and wonderful deep blacks.
Not sure I can sell the Elite anyway. For what I want for it even as a used set you could buy something new. Only those familiar with the Elite know what they would be getting.
Well I guess this is why I'm waiting... hoping for bigger size with an Elite like picture.smile.gif

Dreaux,

I am in the DC area and I would be interested in your elite. I might not be able to afford what you are asking but I may be able to help you sleep at night knowing it went to fellow AVS brother and that It will be well taken care of.

Thanks for the PM. I have replied.

I just want local dimming added to either the 80 or the 90 as I don't care about 4K for now. I guess it still won't be cheap tho... We'll see what's coming at CES in january.

Me too.....

But even at the best on line pirce I could buy 3 Mitsubishi 92" TV's for the price of the Sharp....

I will be going to BB again today. If they are willing to match, I will have to decide.

Well to use a Auto metaphor;
this Sharp 90" is a '67 Corvette
while a Mitsubishi 92" is a '64 Volkswagen Beetle

Seeing that I am a fan of Corvettes, that metaphor hit home....

Maybe I see the Sharp as a 2013 Corvette which will be cheaper next year, and the Mitsubishi is a 2000 Corvette that is well maintained....

Feel free to use other metaphors.

BTW, the wife really doesn't want the Mitsubishi. She'd much rather have the 80" sharp 844U.....

I have a supervisor at work who has the Mits 92" , he has a service contract with the B&M who sold it for them to adjust the mirror on demand , costs him a "Monthly Fee" eek.gif
The Mitz 92" PQ is dim , lifeless , shotty & rainbowy to me . . . .
I M H O , I'd rather have my 80" PQ & the loss of 12" over his PQ any day cool.gif

Best Buy did match the online price..... I was pleasantly surprised so I bought it!

Supposed to be delivered Tuesday, however since I live in Maryland and am in the direct path of the storm, they may need to come by boat.

Sure looks like it will be pushed back a few days....darn.

I read it on the avs thread for the moth eye that it was going to be around $12,500.

Not sure if it is worth that much and that is for the 80 incher. No 90 incher for moth eye thou..
