I don't think you will regret it. I was only going to get one for another family room of my home (I already have 2- 80's) but when an unexpected income came in and a friend offered to buy the 2 -80's at a good price - I had a setup for a perfect storm - I bought 3!!!
Initial observations - after applying the professional calibration settings that I was using on the 80's - to me the pictures are idential - just larger. I am very pleased with the fit/finish and the 1" brushed aluminum bezel (as opposed to the 1 3/4" plastic bezel on the 80"s). After watching an evening of pre-recorded favorite shows last night (and remembering the color/brightness characteristcs of these shows from prior episodes) I found them to show no difference, or, if anything, a little better (the professional calibrations had the quattron turned off and the refresh set at 120 Hz).
If you put the sets in the same location they do not look that much larger - they are only about 2" higher and 2" lower in the vertial dimension and 3.5" wider on each side in the horizontal dimention - thanks in part due to the bezel losing 3/4 inch - so the set would take up 1 1/2": more in vertical and horizontal space if it were the same bezel as on the 80's. The third location - another family room - where I had a 55" set built into a wall of built-in cabinets, nooks etc looks absolutely gigantic. The TV is suspended in front of the builtins with a Chief PDRUB articulating arm mount hidden in the cabinet where the other TV was. If you look back and forth between that setup and the other 90" in the living room (open floor plan - you can see both TV's by just turning your head) you would swear that the one in the family room is twice as large as the other TV - just an optical illusion but interesting.
Now, for the shocker about where I purchased these - ECTV's - sure, I had my misgivings but I figured putting them on credit card gave me a level of protection. I found that if you played their "game" and went ahead and bought extended warranties (MACK) and got the "white glove service" + insurance they tack on they would take care of me and get me the sets on time and in good condition. Well, they arrived 7 days after I placed the order (Linden, New Jersey to Florida). The company they used was AM Home Delivery and they advertise themselves about "white glove delivery service" I called them to make sure exactly what that meant and they "delivered" on their statement - brought all 3 sets into the house and placed them in the rooms where they were going - unboxed them, plugged them in, went through the intial setup menu and waited while I plugged in HDMI cables and watched some local HD TV - the sets were kept in their boxes but I could see the very bottom of the screen. As an aside, the shipping containers for these 90's is much better than the 80" - not only is it thicker with more styrofoam around the top and bottom but the bottom of the box is strapped to a 6" wooden pallet - I would bet that if Sharp used this setup for the 80's there would not be all the cracked LCD screens we have seen (I had one of those on a previous 80" delivery).
After registering each set with Aquos Advantage I found the 3 year warranty offered by Sharp was the same price as the MACK warranty. With the white glove and insurance charges my cost/unit was stll very good - but since no price talk I won't go into exact amounts.
I do have one problem with one of the 3 units - I didn't notice this until later but don't think I would have refused delivery on the unit since this is an obvious manufacturing defect - there are two narrow green lines extending from the top of the display to the bottom - this is a faulty panel/circuit board problem and the tech I talked with at Sharp said the unit will be probably replaced by them - I had to do the usual hard reboot and send in multiple pictures of the screen and am awaiting their official reply. Actually when you sit 10-12' back from the screen you really can't see the lines but it sounds like Sharp will replace the unit.
Of course, my 3 boys are in "video game heaven" to put it mildly!!
