Am I out a tv? Sumsung pixel/plasma problems.

I there, I purchased a Samsung pn58c plasma in 2010. My warranty has expired. Recently my tv has been displaying "band/bar" like reddish pixels across the top of the screen. It only happens random and mostly during very white scenes. For instance during bbc frozen planet it occurs a lot. The colors flicker and you can still see the picture. It's almost like the top 3 or 4 inches especially on the right side is always being active (changing pixels) even during still white scenes. It's hard to explain.
I'm just wondering can it be fixed? Or am I out a tv. Thank you very much. I guess I should say its not limited to the top of the screen that's just where I see it most. Thanks again

You'd be best to take this to the appropriate plasma group and ask your question there. It sounds more like a tv problem than an HDTV reception problem.

To determine if it is a TV or signal problem, you need to do some substitution and observation.

Does it affect any Menu or OSD images? Menu bad also - probably a TV problem. Menu OK - possible signal issue - continue to substitution tests.

Try all input methods.
Ch3 from VCR/cable box/DVD-VCR, etc
Composite Video (Yellow) from the same type of sources.
Component Video (GBR-RW) from DVD/BD/HD cable box/Sat receiver, etc
DVI/HDMI from the prior sources.
Problem present on ALL inputs - probable TV problem.
TV works OK on some inputs - further testing needed. The specific results of input testing will determine any further testing - report back.

Hello. Im really leaning towards a tv problem. I have a cable pvr hooked directly to tv- it happens... I have a ps3/Xbox through a vsx-1326-it happens... And also a Sammy br player-it happens. Doesn't seem to matter the source or input.

Sounds like all your stuff is probably hooked up via HDMI. Do like zaphod7501 said.. try different types of inputs, like COMPONENT.

Yeah sounds like red banding is a known issue according to someone in another thread. Samsung just won't go good for it because it's out of warranty. Booo. Oh well. Panasonic here I come!

Did you try a full factory reset? Unlikely, but it may help.
