First of all hello everyone

I'm new here and sorry if I opened thread in a wrong category.

now talk about business...

I need Digital HD Player...
My fav. ones are

1 - Western Digital WD TV Live

2 - Micca EP600

Guys Please, help me, I have just a few questions...
I live in Georgia and I can't test my own, because of a simple reason, I can't find these 2 streamers in shops...
therefore I have to purchase via online shop...

The main function'd be playing movies via External HDD.

1 - I know both of them supports tons of formats, but does any of them support MENUs in downloaded Blu-Ray images? Can I change subtitles/audio? also how can I play M2TS streams?
2 - Does it support CUE Playlists? (I know FLAC is supported but most of lossless albums are managed by playlists)
3 - What about Remote Control response time?
4 - Can I manually add SRT subtitles?
5 - Does one of them lag while playing BD? also what can you say about quality?
6 - Cooling system durability etc.
7 - Customer Support/Firmware releasing group

that's all my questions.

I'm depended to your advise guys...

Thanks

Hi,

1. The EP600 G2 has limited BD Menu support. You can choose either Profile 1.0 menu (which is generally limited to very early Blu-Ray releases), or BD Lite - where the player constructs a generic menu based on what it determines is chapter/audio/language, and etc. Generally speaking, you will not be able to see special features on more current BD releases.

2. M3U playlists are supported by the EP600 G2, though I've never personally used this feature.

3. The response time should be inline with other consumer electronics.

4. You can place a SRT subtitle in the same folder as your video with the same name, except for the SRT extension, and the player will be able to use this subtitle file when playing the video.

5. The player is able to play BD ISO without lag from either an attached drive or through a LAN network connection. WiFi network will generally not be fast enough for streaming BD ISO files.

6. The EP600 G2 does not have a fan; it has a metal enclosure and is passively cooled. There hasn't been any reports of heat related issues.

7. We support the product related discussions on this forum, and new firmware updates are posted on the product information website when they become available.

No BD menu support that I know of.

Don't know

3 - What about Remote Control response time?
WDTV2 remote control is good. I bought one for my parents. They like it.

4 - Can I manually add SRT subtitles?
Dont' know

WDTV2 doesn't lag.

6 - Cooling system durability etc.
WDTV2 is quiet and stays pretty cool.

7 - Customer Support/Firmware releasing group
WD support pretty much sucks balls...your better off going to the WDTV forum.

Micca, you can talk to Jack. Other than that I don't know anything else.

WDTV you can have a jukebox. Micca doesn't it has a newer chip, and I believe it can play 3D movies as well.

WDTV can stream netflix, hulu, vudu, and other stuff. Micca doesn't.

Both of you Thanks !
I appreciate it...

I have one more question:
most of my Blu-Ray collection is folder type BDs, NOT ISO(STREAM Folder contains so many .M2TS files) and does WD or Micca play whole folder like ONE movie?

WDTV2 doesn't support folder structure. It will try to play the biggest M2TS file. I'm not sure about the Micca.

I know BD ISO is officially supported but would have to check to see if the player recognizes and play a BD folder.

Jack,

Is there any possibility in the near future that Micca will be able to use a jukebox? either internally or a 3rd party?

We converted an ISO into folders and the EP600 G2 began playing it as soon as soon as the folder was selected.

Jukebox is something that we continue to investigate. However, given the limitation of not being able to index network shared media files, this has some difficulties.

One area that shows a lot of promise is the DNLA capability, where the user can use a smartphone or tablet device to browse media files on the LAN and initiate playback to the EP600 G2 directly. This works with a variety of sources, including web videos, LAN folder shares, and UPnP software such as PlayOn.tv.
