Problem with Center Output on Sony STR-DE875

My Sony STR-DE875 center output is having an issue. The channel is outputting correct power to my center speaker but it sounds dirty, like it is off frequency, and sounds too bad to enjoy. My father, who has worked on 1970s Pioneer SX models, told me that it doesn't sound like it is the amp or center relay. Does anyone have a good understanding of what it may be? A nice board schematic for the model would be extremely useful as well.

Obviously you've determined the center speaker isn't the culprit. Is the sound the same on all surround modes?

I have the same exact problem, but have been unable to find any solutions online. Except for one possible answer... swap out IC601 on the circuit board. Sure would like to see a schematic.
