2:35 aspect ratio movie list

Is there a thread somewhere that lists the aspect ratio (as it is on the Blu Ray) for lots of movies?

I searched, but did not find.

Nevermind.. I kept searching and, while I didnt find the answer, I did find a link to blu-raystats.com, which I had never heard of. The answers are there.

But - followup question, I notice that on that site Mission Impossible Ghost protocol is listed as 2:35:1, but on my 2:35:1 screen, I still have some black at the top and bottom when I am exactly at the edges of the sides. So that tells me it was actually put on the disc at higher than 2:35:1. Is the data wrong?

I haven't seen it, but what you're describing is a 2.4:1 movie on a 2:35:1 screen.

Well I found that answer too.. its 2:39:1, even though it is labelled as 2:35:1.

The best way to search is using advance search, title search only (option) and limit search words to one or two. in this case, I used "list" for my search word.

The labeling of ARs on video has never been an exact science and there are many titles that are 2.40 listed as 2.35:1.

That blu-raystat site is cool. I did a feature search and filtered the aspect ratio just so see how many titles were in scope. There are a TON of 2.40:1 and 2.35:1. I also couldn't believe how many older movies were shot SUPER wide. How the West Was Won says 2.89:1! WOW.

....wish my theater was finished.....
