After 6 months with RXV673 I finally ran YPAO! I originally set the receiver manually with a tape measure and sound meter. After running YPAO I find that it was quite accurate with all the settings I originally inputted. I just find the bass is a bit low for my standards. I read in the forum that some have "tweaked" their YPAO settings; how is this done? I can see the manual setting folder in the menu, is this where manual changes will take effect if I make any modifications to YPAO?
Thank you in advance for your help.
What did YPAO set your front speakers to, Large or Small? If you have towers, it almost certainly set them to Large. If you have a subwoofer, you want to set the fronts to Small no matter what their frequency range is, to make sure that the 673 is sending the low frequency information to the subwoofer as well as the fronts. Then adjust your subwoofer crossover frequency in the Manual speaker configuration settings to whatever is most pleasing to you. A lot of folks use 60 Hz for really sizable front towers or 80 Hz for smaller towers or good bookshelves, often 100 Hz or higher for smaller bookshelves or satellite HTiB-type systems, but that depends on the capabilities of your speakers, your subwoofer, room placement and various other considerations.
Go look in Manual settings to see what level it set your subwoofer to, as well. If it's "minus" some number of decibels, you can just turn it back up to 0 and see if that addresses the problem. First adjust fronts to Small size and your crossover frequency though. I suspect you'll get your familiar bass back.
