I haven't had that problem again the rest of the day.

I use an HDMI connection from COMCAST cable box. Never had a situation where you can only get sound but no picture from this TV before.

I am confused here is no 60" vt50 ?

Mantar: Sometimes handshake issues with all your components can cause "electronic confusion." I've seen this before particularly when I attempt to change HDMI cables while components are powered on or there was a brief power outage . "If" this is what happened in your situation the quick remedy is to power everything off and even "unplug" the TV from the outlet then plug back in and power everything back up.
typo: it was a 65vt50.

I hope it was merely the handshake issue. Though in prior handshake problems I had with my old SXRD SONY, I don't think I had even audio coming through.
I've had this happen once or twice. Its the HDMI handshake in my case.

BUMP

Hi All,

I posted this several months ago and hadn't seen a response. Still hoping someone might know the answer to below. However, since then, I also had a second question regarding the bluetooth speaker settings. Does anyone know if it's possible to have the TV set to auto connect to the bluetooth speakers every time? Having to go in and connect them each time, is getting old. Love having the option, but just wish I could make it default for everything.

Has anyone got Windows 8 DLNA successfully working with the VT50? If so, I would appreciate any info you have such as media server, settings, etc. Thanks for the help.

I use Serviio as my DLNA server on Windows 8.1 and for the most part, everything works fine for most formats. The ones that aren't directly supported by the TV are transcoded by Serviio using FFMPEG and streamed to the TV.

Hi,
Recently purchased a VT50 however am having issues with ARC and my Yamaha 675.

Issues are, if I switch off my Tv whilst say the amp is playing net radio, then switch back on the audio stops. I then need to go to my amp and switch arc on then off again.
I can avoid this problem by switching off Viera Link on my tv but then I do t get sound through the avr.

I've been reading up and seen some suggestions like in Viera Link Settings change from speaker to home cinema however I don't see that.

Otherwise has someone managed to get this running smoothly. What's the procedure?

Thanks all.

Arc is very flakey IMO and not worth the effort

Is that your only option for getting sound to your receiver ? I find optical to be much more reliable

I use ARC with my VT50 and my Denon 1713 for our DirectTV box so we can seamlessly switch to the TV Apps if we want. It was very easy to setup and has worked fine for months.

I second that, I have ARC working perfectly for over a year with my GT50 and Onkyo receiver as well.
Yes, unfortunately I never gave any consideration to any additional cables when we placed them behind the wall.

I was fortunate that both the tv and amp had arc when I realised - just a shame it's not working as I'd expect).

So on the tv is arc always on. I.e does Viera Link have to be switched on?
Do you have a North American model ? And yes viera link needs to be on

Robnix glad it works for you I always found it problematic with no real benefit it's not a slam on the set or panasonic btw

Uk model.

(Yeah @chunon, likewise, it's an amazing tv)

Hello. Several of us have been able to use the ARC function successfully. Since both your TV and your Receiver support ARC and 1.4 HDMI. Try:

- Make sure you are using 1.4 or HighSpeed HDMI cable ( older 1.3 HDMI cables do not support ARC)
- HDMI Control setting must be turned "on" in the Yamaha 675 Receiver settings ( see "Configuring the HDMI Settings" in your Receiver's manual)

I recommend that you run all components via HDMI through your Receiver and only the one ARC HighSpeed HDMI cable between the TV and Receiver: TV ARC HDMI 2 ==> Yamaha 675 HDMI ARC.
Also make sure to turn everything off while changing HDMI cables around--then power everything on once you have your HDMI cables in place.

Are all your source devices going HDMI through your receiver then output to your VT50 into input 2?

When I had my system configured that way, mine worked fine. It was only after I decided to send the video directly to the display (using all 4 inputs) with ARC still setup for input 2 and using a couple of devices there, did I start running into problems with how things turned on/off redirecting the sound.

From what I gathered, that's the logic of how ARC works.

What I did as a simple work around was to press the activity a second time on the Harmony one remote. That would correct that audio.

It sounds like what you're doing is listening to internet radio via your receiver and decide to check the TV to see what's playing. That's when the audio gets redirected. It being silent sounds a bit like how my TIVO will act at times until I change channels.

Hi,

So I spent some time playing around with this.
So ARC technically works.

However.

The problem occurs if I switch my tv off then back on. So here's the scenario:

TV and amp switched on. ARC works cool, sounds from tv apps going through amp as expected. I then switch to the amps net radio.
Radio plays through amp all ok.

I switch Tv off and leave amp playing net radio, all ok.

But then..

I switch the tv on. The net radio stops playing through the amp speakers. I switch to HDMI 2 where the amps net radio output is and the sound comes from the tv rather than the amp speakers. Also ARC stops working - sound comes through TV.

To then get the sound back through amp, I need to go to the amps HDMI control, set to off then on and it works.

Is this a setting fix or a bug.

Thanks.

Thanks for the reply. Based upon your note, I updated from Windows 8 Pro to Windows 8.1 Pro. My VT50 streams Amazon Prime without issues. I have tried multiple DLNA servers, including Serviio on my PC. The VT50 says, "DLNA Server Not Found" I think I have Homegroup sharing set up correctly on the PC. Do you have any other settings or ideas that may help? I appreciate any information that you can share.

A common handshake issue. Youre asking too much of a feature thats quirky to begin with.

Hi,
Ok. Well thanks for everyone's advice.
I guess I'll just bear with it and hope a firmware update sorts it.
In the meantime if anyone with a yamaha v675 and vt50 tv work it out, please let me know.
Cheers

Great. I'm going to purchase mine tonight and try to get it delivered early next week too. otiy

I am using a Denon 3311CI with my 65" VT50 and I am able to listen to/stream Pandora on my Receiver ( with TV on or off) without any of the issues you are describing. Couple things that leads me to believe something may be wrong with your configuration and or settings is that you mention that you hear Pandora through your TV speakers when you turn your TV off then back on while listening to Pandora and that you have to switch back to HDMI 2 on the TV. Are you running all your HDMI cables through your Receiver with just the one going from Receiver ARC to the TV ARC HDMI 2? Receiver settings HDMI Control On and ARC ON ( some Receivers require ARC setting to be turned on) ? Also, I would turn off your TV speakers (TV Menu/Audio/AdvancedAudio/TV Speakers Off).

Are you using a universal remote?

Run Device Spy on the same computer that Serviio installed with your TV turned on.

Intel's website points to this link for download...

http://opentools.homeip.net/dev-tools-for-upnp

There won't be any program shortcut links except in Windows 8 non existent start menu so pay attention to where it installs and send a shortcut to your desktop from the install folder. Your TV should show up. UPNP should be turned on in your router and check your firewall settings.

I have no special settings but you should browse through all network options carefully for anything you may have missed.

Dig deeper in your audio settings on your TV.

There is a setting in the VT50 to prefer either the TV speakers or home theatre speakers. If you have your internet radio coming out of your tv from your amp, this setting on your TV is wrong.

I'm not at home to check exactly what menu it is in but I am sure there is that option in this TV.

But my main concern is my VT50 9 Months old and Now I cannot get any HDMI to run through. I tried a Working computer, Nothing, I tried the PC(VGA) port and nothing. Any Idea's on what I should do. My renters Insurance will not cover it. confused.gif
