My gamertag is plainly visible even while displaying normal content. mad.gif I am upset.......

I don't game on my VT50, but IR does occur pretty easily - even after just a few minutes - on mine from the Netflix UI main screen, which also has boxes that stay in the same place on the screen. Personally I deal with it by just watching TV (with constantly changing imagery), which I've read can be just as effective as using more directed methods like the scrolling bar or specialized DVDs, and requires less effort. I've found it works for me, but I've never had to deal with any IR that had me concerned it was instead screen burn. It might work for you as well, as you said you were playing with the Xbox UI just for a bit.

Also, because I know just watching TV can fix IR, I'm less concerned about it, and therefore am less likely to notice it when it does happen.

So can anyone confirm that the new firmware won't impact a calibrated set? Besides, Chad that is.

I havent' checked mine with my meter, but eyeballing it I can't see any difference.

I can confirm with my eyes,I'm not a calibrated but I see no difference as far as picture quality.I do have my isf settings written down which I did when I had it calibrated.

It sounds like you are questioning information that you got from Chad B. eek.gif
post #13177 of 13486
He might not know who Chad is.

Gabe, FYI Chad is a well respected pro calibrator (has done work for me) and he made this test on his own GT50, calibrated by him. He has a reference meter that costs around $8k, so feel safe smile.gif

wasn't questioning Chad B at all...only that he has a gt50 and i have a vt50. Just looking for more confirmation. Sounds like it's safe though.

I'll find out in a week. I have to drive up to Wisconsin and do some wiring. My 65VT50 awaits me there....

No. Have you called them? Why do we need to call Panasonic about firmware?

Hello,

I just got myself a 50" VT50 and I have some quick questions:

1 - I should use game mode to play games, I assume... What does this mode has that make it ideal for gaming?

2 - Is there a good calibration data I can apply out of the box to the TV?

thank you in advance
I think they lag is further reduced in game mode, not sure though.

Out of the box, a disc like spears and munsil is good to adjust many things.

Have not been on the forum for a few months, but.....this plasma just bit the big one. I have a call into Panasonic as I am typing this. No signs of trouble. It just went black, with like punches of multi-colored greens and pinks punching through the screen. It is just 8 months old, so we will see what it takes to get it fixed. We really don't play this thing very much, as we have another (Samsung ) upstairs and during the summer we use it.

UPDATE,

Service is horrible. This Viera Concierge is a joke. Take care of you unit, guys, they better had not break!. Broke Friday, called immediately. They wanted us to send pictures of screen, invoice paperwork, pictures of serial # and Model, which we did. They then told us to wait 48 hours and they would get back to us...Which they didn't. When we contacted them again, after finally asking for a superviser, they set us up an appointment for a dealer. I ask about this loaner TV that is promised with the paperwork of the delivered TV, and he told me" that must be taken care of by the dealer fixing the TV...if he happens to have any loaner TVs"...What the hell....So the next day we get a call from this dealer stating " they don't service our area, and we would have to call Panasonic and tell them . So we do...and they want us to go through this 48 hour crap again. To make it worse, all the phone calls go through Jamaica, and their sales people are hard to understand. Sucks. Just Sucks..

Yikes, that's pretty bad. I'm hoping my Squaretrade warranty doesn't give me any issues if I ever have to use it. I hope I never have to find out.

Hello all,

does anybody knows if it's possible to have an automatic power on-power off function associated with a video input?

I'd like to put the tv on standby and automatically turn it on from standby when a video input becomes active.

Couldn't find anything to configure it in the menu.

Thank you very much.

Cheers

Daemon,

That's doing as long as you have an ARC (audio return channel) compatible device such as a preamp or receiver connected to HDMI 2.

If not, then using a programmable remote like the Harmony One would also work. In it's setup software, you tell it what all you need to turn on and it programs a single button to accomplish it.

Hello,

I'm asking for the opposite. I would like to automatically turn on the TV when a Video input is available to it.

I would like to turn on the blu ray player and automatically turn on the TV.

There isn't a real standby for this TV. Or at least I couldn't find any config for it.

Thanks

The VT50s don't have a feature for that. Sorry.
This happens if you have hdmi cec enabled for both devices. I can turn on any device like ps4, blu ray, etc and the tv comes on as well as the receiver. Is that what you are looking for?

UPDATE..

I got ahold of another service adviser( this morning). He says somebody WILL call me in the next 24 hours with some info on a appointment so that someone that can service this broken unit.. He says he's turned it over to " upper management"......Its been a week now, probably 10 phone calls and I am no closer to getting an appointment than I was the first time I called....Its pretty sad.....
I don't understand why you are having such a rough time, when I have called they scheduled the appt immediately. Do you live in a remote area ?

You MUST call them every 48 hours if you want to expedite a replacement. Leaving it to them: Does. Not. Work..

Thanks, and will take your advise. I was asking for a replacement after the first feasco, but they would not have any part of it. They tell me" somebody has to tell them its unreparable." Well thats just great, except they can't figure out how to get that accomplished. I hope they read these forums....But they problably don't...

Does anyone know what the maximum number of 3D glasses are supported by the 65VT50? I've searched this thread and the manual, but couldn't find an answer to this one.

I think it's 8. I could be wrong though.
