I thought the same thing when I saw the VT/GT. Not sure if is due to the filter or the MLL is actually lower. I guess we'll find out soon enough!

Is the black levels darker than last years vt30?

Yup, even the st50 has better black levels then the vt30.

Has anyone with a set mentioned how the TV sounds? I'm curious about the built in speakers and woofer. My Kuro 5020 blows me away with how good it sounds with just a powered sub hooked up to it, so I'd like to know how this sounds.

Why in ceiph's pic does the vt30 on the ground look way better than the vt50 on the wall? I thought the vt50 was on the ground when I first saw the pic, it looked darker with more detail. Until dude said it was the vt30 on the ground.. Maybe it's just the camera pic that's makin the vt50 look washed out.

it was a quick iphone shot, and i didnt pause the blu ray. i set it up talked to my customer than grabbed a shot before putting the vt30 back. the pic in no way represents pq

I heard they will have the VT50 in this year's flat panel side by side comparison test (May 19 & 20). If that's true, we will know just how black it really is.

Yes, I am getting .0025 fL in 60 Hz mode and .002 fL in 96 Hz mode.

I bought two pairs of TY-ER3D4MU, the official 2012 Panasonic specs. I also bought one pair of the cheap new 2012 Samsung SSG-4100s. The build quality on the Samsungs is a joke, but you can buy about four of them for the retail price of one Panasonic pair...my VT50 should be here tomorrow, so I'll test both.

Chad you'll have to let us know if it has the same pop as the ST50. I assume it will since the brightness isn't capped for the American model? I'm also interested to know if there is any less crosstalk in 3D on the VT50.

Unfortunately I'm probably not going to have time to calibrate the 3D mode. But it's poppin' big time.

Oh, I can say that my new GT50's 3D mode has very low crosstalk. The VT50 is likely very similar in that regard.

Can you give us some context with those numbers Chad? How much better are they compared to the GT and E8000 sets that you've already reviewed thus far? It looks like Kuro territory in my opinion.

Good to hear. I read a European review of the VT50 and they said it wasn't as bright as the ST50 thus didn't have the same dynamic pop to it. But was told otherwise that US models aren't capped so I assume we should expect the same level of intensity for bright/dark room performance.

I'm glad to know your GT50's 3D mode has low crosstalk. I was sorta worried about that. Panasonic over the past couple years has had a low enough crosstalk that I can enjoy some 3D movies. If the GT/VT keeps tradition then it's a plus in my (and many others) book.

With the Panasonic EPP what level of delivery is included? It didn't give me a choice so I was wondering if it was driveway, threshold, or white glove delivery? I have trouble getting off work sometimes so my wife might have to accept delivery is why I ask. The 65" is a big guy to lug around.

Thanks for pointing me to the EPP option. My company does have that. I had to cancel my set with CP because my financial committee thought it was over budget. With the EPP pricing I managed to negotiate with her and I ordered it yesterday.

I think it is white gloves service. But no matter, if you take care of the driver, the driver will take care of you (as someone wise just told me).

Isnt .0025 fl the same as D nice was reporting with the ST50? If so then looks like the ST is the better buy

Man that stinks. I hope there is still much he can tells us. I see they put the 65vt50 on BB's website today. I'm ready to get this done.

Wondering the same thing. I got a delivery notice from them but there is no information in the tracking section. I have a TV on the wall mount that it is going on but would prefer them to hang the new one if possible, if not I'd prefer it to at least make it inside instead of just curbside...

If I don't hear anything soon I'll give them a call.

Edit: Called em, they said they have a 7-10 day delivery and it's coming from Cali to Md so I shouldn't expect it until next week. It's a 'threshold' delivery which means they will only bring it inside the front door.

I believe the ST50 dips to that level, than rises back up to the original reading after a few hundred hours. If I recall correctly.

On HDJ he reported "0.0028fL!" on the ST50, and that yes he verified his equipment.

Haven't D-Nice' readings been traditionally lower than Chads? Or is it the other way around? Regardless, the fact that Chad got a lower reading on the VT would mean that D should as well.

Your answer does not apply to everyone. The correct answer would be it's dependend on the individual. I could see a difference between my 500M (0.0005fL) and the 111FD (0.001fL) when I had one. I can see a difference between my enhanced 101FD (unknown but below 0.0002fL) compared to my 500M (0.0005fL). I can see a difference between my 5020FD E-lite (0.0009fL) and 101FD/500M. I can see a difference between the Sharp Elite (0.0004fL) and a 151/141FD (0.001fL). I am not the only one that can see these differences. This is of course in a dark room with no lights.
