I drive them nuts because I keep making changes that don't make their report pretty enough. But our gf's always vote for my changes over their "perfect" Cal's.
I am using ControlCal but will post as Custom so there is no confusion to the general public.
WM's post patch settings came out great as well.

HURRY UP WITH THE UPDATE!!! smile.gif

Ok, Im quoting myself here here. After some research it is infact that Panasonic TV's do use a Real D "active" 3D system. But what I would like to know how does this tech differ from the 3D of like Samsung? Does it make it more like the 3D in the cinemas? I always though REAL D 3D was a passive technology.

I think the speakers suck.

They do, but compared to some other manufacturers, they are above average.

Gas, you may get a better response in the 3D forum.

RealD has certain 3D patents that they license to CE companies. I think they are related to the SidebySide and TopandBottom broadcast 3D formats.

I think this allows the VT50 to "auto detect those formats.

I was unaware and ignorant in hours 1-100 as well. I have no idea if I've crossed hour 500 yet either. I will admit the 6-year-old plasma had a lot of 4:3 on it and the new one I "stretch to fill" but beyond that I am taking (and have taken) no action to avoid IR.

I also didn't load a single slide, in part because I didn't have any spare flash drives. Subsequently, I acquired a bunch of spare flash drives (wow, they are cheap right now) but have not been bored enough to load any of them with slides. YMMV.

Got my pack of lightdims.

Wow....much better now.

If you order some, be sure to get the ones that reduce the brightness rather than totally blocks the light. I didn't know that and had to order a second pack of the right ones.

I am honestly not sure if he is arguing or being supportive. I am so confused and vulnerable right now. Curse you Rogo and your kung fu mind tricks! wink.gif

I came here for an argument. This is simple contradiction.

My local tv store is having a one day only sale on the 65VT50 for $1,999. Seems like a huge steal. However, I'm curious for those of you who own this set how the glare is on the tv? I know Plasmas are historically glossy, however, many of the newer LED sets are as well. However, if the picture is bright and vibrant, the glare doesn't matter as much. Any comments or suggestions would be helpful. I have window directly in front of my TV, however, we have blinds and can shut most of the light out. However, when my current Toshiba LCD set is shut off, you can certainly see the ambient light.
That price can't be right for a 65" VT50.

Are you sure about that price doesn't sound right..........maybe for the st50, because the vt50 is over $3000

That can't be correct. If it is, buy several and sell them.

Do we have any other new owners with July build dates? As much as I don't believe dithering has been greatly reduced on July builds, I am curious none the less. I see dithering on older movies and lesser quality content (not SD but crappy HD) from 11' away as clear as day and even on some pretty good HD content. I have accepted this "flaw" but hearing some claims of little or no dithering is interesting to say the least. Again, I put no stock in that dithering has been drastically reduced on newer builds. But as they say, curiosity killed the cat.

I don't know if flaw is the right word. Are you sure you are not confusing dithering, which is a technique to expand the color palette, versus video noise which is coming from the source?

Well flaw is a bit strong. I find that dithering is misrepresented pretty often, including by me. And you are correct, I am more talking about the noise aspect. Thanks for the correction. I do find video noise on this set to be bothersom but completely understood and accepted from day one. And I will take this set with the extra noise any day of the week. smile.gif

Check the model number again, that maybe a lower model (GT50) or an older model (VT30)

My replacement is a July Model. I haven't really noticed anything that I can't attribute to the source, but then again I'm used to seeing what I'm seeing if that makes sense. I'll do a test this weekend watching the same DVD scenes using my XBMC box, my Xbox360, and my PS3 with all the scaling features turned off to see if it's the TV or the source.

Also ABT.
Yea, most likely that was a 55" VT50 for $1999 but with tax and maybe even extra for white glove delivery, it will still cost more than US-Appliance which is $1794 (+$149 if you prefer white glove delivery) no tax. Unfortunately they just went out of stock today! Whew! I just got Amazon to price match them before it went OOS. Great timing! Best price you can get now is at Abe's of Maine which is $1913 + free wallmount (+100 for WG delivery) no tax.
I would be careful with the price talk. They want you to keep it in the "Great Deal" thread

If this was actually a real deal. Please note, that if you see a deal like this, put the credit card down to pay for the item, ask questions later biggrin.gif
