Another great 5-star review of the VT50. Very thorough with lots of detailed pics (especially of the fan which is unique(?) to this model). They were "astonished" by the black levels!! Originally in Dutch so the link below is that from Google translate.

Due to the new 3d glasses standard, it may be worthwhile to look into Samsung's lineup of glasses. They have some interesting options....

If anyone can measure how much the power cord protrudes from the back of the tv, I would sure like to know this info before ordering a mount! Aside from that, there is nothing really preventing a very flush wall mount.

Yesterday I tried syncing a pair of Samsung SSG-4100s to the ST50 and it didn't work. I'm going to try again since after reading the manual for the Panasonic eyewear, it suggests a maximum syncing distance of 1.6 feet. Perhaps I was too far away for them to sync. They bear the "Full HD 3D RF" logo so technically they should work without a problem.

I will say that there's a good reason the Samsung glasses are only twenty dollars. They are extremely uncomfortable, have tiny lenses, are open on the sides, and unlike last year's models, they don't fold back. I did not try the $50 rechargeable pair, so those may be better, but at that point you may as well buy the Panasonic glasses.

Home Depot and Lowes sell electrical socket "plates" that are actually concave so that you can mount into the wall nice and flush.

I hope to have an eta on my 65vt50 next week.

Thanks

What links would you like? I'm on my iPad now but can accommodate that with whatever you like.

I very much doubt the plug "protrudes: out from the back of the TV anyway. It almost certainly mates with a sideways-type socket and doesn't add additional depth.

Will one of you guys who knows how to use a camera take a detailed picture of the bezel area? I'm curious what this looks like.

Just got back from Best Buy to buy a blu-ray player and what did I see? In the Magnolia section 2 salesmen unpacking and setting up a 55VT50! I have to say, it is the most beautiful design I have ever seen in a tv. Even my wife was impressed. I didn't get to spend much time with it on, there were about 4 salesmen by then. The little bit I did see was some nature video but they had it in Vivid mode. In the low lighting of the store, the screen looked pitch black. I will definitely go back for another look when I have more time!

Where did you purchase it at and did you get a good price? No need to state how much since it's forbidden.

I do have the recessed piece in my wall now, so i'm good for the end plugging in there.... I guess that in this case (a German reviewer) had some trouble with the tv plug when installing his bracket.

Here's the link translated from German....

Good pics there nonetheless!

I bought my 65Gt30 directly from Panasonic.

After un-boxing, I discovered a dent in the rear casing.
I called Panasonic and they arranged a replacement. The delivery person helped me take it off the wall and swap them. I am not sure if that is policy or not but he was a nice guy.

After the FBr fix was announced, I called Panasonic and a tech came and upgraded the firmware. No problems after that.

If you plan on keeping the display, it is OK to buy from Panasonic.
If you are uncertain and want the extra security of a 30 return policy for any reason, buy from Amazon or from a B&M.

Does Amazon pay for return shipping?

A 55 inch TV is physically too large for me, and i don't really need the VT50's extra features either. My 46" G10 is already blocking more of my man room's window than i'd like, and i can't put the TV anywhere else in the room.

If the VT50 were available in 50 inches, i would seriously consider getting one.

Sorry but aren't you sort of contradicting yourself? . You said you don't need the VT50's extra features but if it came in a 50" you would seriously consider one? . Wouldn't you then just get a 50GT50?
