I cannot return it to Amazon any longer since I have had it since January but am sure I can sell my tv for a fair deal on cl and then buy the new VT50

Just want to see if the upgrade is worth it. Specially the fact that custom color issues were a problem in the VT30

What improvements are there from VT30 to VT50

I'm in the same boat as you. I have a 5 month old 65VT30 with around 400 hours. I'm sure we would take a huge hit selling our VT30's. My Dnice calibrated VT30 has been trouble free. I am going to hang onto my VT30 for at least two years as that is about as long as i ever keep a display anyways.

Thanks! I had a lot of custom work done to precisely fit a PN64E8000 in a niche, and now that I'm swapping out for the slightly larger VT50 because of the multiple buzzers I have received with the Samsungs, I just needed to make sure it would fit.

Is there any chance Panasonic makes a 50" version of the VT50?

55" is just a hair too big for my entertainment center

Not in the NA market.

Anyone else having issue with Samsung bluray player. It could be I don't have avr that supports arc but (3806 Denon) avr kept fighting with bluray player. I would hit Samsung than tv would go to input 1 (not arc) then hit hdmi 2 and bluray would pause. I would have to restart bluray. I moved hdmi to input 1 (non arc) and everything is fine. The tv just kept switching inputs and I kept switching back. Very weird

Man, if the VT50 is that good, you've really got me pumped to buy this thing!

HLdan, thanks very much for your thoughtful response. It confirms what I was thinking that a GT or VT w/o calibration in THX mode will probably be good enough for me. I'm clearly not a videophile as i'm still working a small Sony XBR LCD (34"?) from 2008. It cost a grand at BB!

Now I just have to decide if I go for a 60GT or a 65VT from precisely 11 feet. I can't believe there is only a 300 buck differential on the 65's, and I'm looking for an 'immersive' experience, but I don't think the 65vt worth the extra 1300 over the 60gt. Especially when I can sit on the edge of my couch and be at 8-9'. Again, thanks a lot!

Watched Men in Black (the new rerelease) today on Blu Ray on my VT50 @ 96Hz...wow, the smoothness and naturalness of the image amazes me, not to mention the depth of the blacks. And I imagine the 65 will have even deeper blacks. Here are a couple HDR iPhone shots. Watched using my Sony 5KES BD player.

11 ft. away, huh? I sit 12 1/2 ft. away from my picture- I have a 108" and I could comfortably go another five inches at THAT size. A 65" will not come close to filling your periphery. I don't even think one would want to as your eyes would have to travel and move too much to be comfortable. But trust me, 65" is a-ok from 11 feet. I think you would be riotisly happy with a 65GT. You wrote 60GT or 65VT...if you want "immersive" I do not think you would get it with a 60" from 11'.

I figured I would ask this here. I'm about to buy a 65" VT50. What is the best non-tilting fixed wall mount for it?

I wonder though, it would not make sense to build the screens in Japan. That is the most fragile part, I would think the screens are made in Mexico too ?

Head over to Monoprice and pick up a low profile mount there... I have 1 now on my 58" Panny and another on the way for my 65VT50 which arrived today.

According to the Panasonic manual, which appears on their website, the "actual" height of the tc-p65vt50 without stand is 35.1".

I am getting a 65VT50 today from BB, and I will be comparing it to my Kuro 141.
But first I need to properly brake-in the vt50, so like my Kuro I will use D-Nice color patterns but a little lower contrast and brightness settings (as I did with the 141). I am sure D-Nice settings are fine, but I am very careful about these things.

The only problem with a low profile is its harder to back-light it.
My wall mount has both a low profile and a regular mount. I use the regular mount because of back-lighting and better air flow in the back of my TV.

I have the 65" VT50 on order from my dealer in Roanoke Va, I don't know when it will arrive. The waiting is hard but it is worth it.

I'm not sure what you're looking for, but the Denon 3806 doesn't support ARC. I think that for ARC to work every component in the HDMI chain has to be ARC capable. Even then, it can do strange things, especially if you mix manufacturers.

I've never used ARC, but what I've written I hope reflects what I think I've read about ARC. I'm sure about the 3806 because I own one.

Good luck.

Does your Vt50 buzz as much as your samsung pne8000 because I plan to do the same thing

Are you basing this off of last years or has someone actually measured the blacks on a 65" ST/GT50?

I have an 58" Panny as well on a monoprice mount. Won't the new 65" fit the same mount? I thought the VESA mount on back was the same. The 65" is actually lighter than the 58" V10 model. So I'm assuming that I should not need a new mount?
