Speaker connector in wall

Hi,

I just moved into a house that is wired for 5.1 speakers and has speaker connectors I have not seen before. I would like to find the Male connections for these so I can plug my existing speakers in.

Can anyone identify this and point me to a supplier for the Male connectors?

TIA, Jasg

Take this picture along with the center to center measurement down to Radio Shack and see if they can find anything to match. you also need to determine the diameter of pins which will fit the sockets. Another solution is to cut the plug off leaving as much wire as possible, strip back the cable to expose the two wires and connect your plug of choice found at RS or perhaps Home Depot. Nice having them already in the wall. Good luck.

Ugly hole. Wonder what the 2-screws are for.

Personally I would replace that with a proper wall plate.

There are actually 4 screws, for a speaker mount, I suspect.

Cutting of the connector and using bare wire is an easy solution, but I was hoping for something neater that would use the existing female connector.

I asked in this forum because I think that the connector is for a Bose speaker of some sort. I can find female connectors for sale, but the male connection is built into the speaker.

Ah, I see. This could had been a stealth speaker+mount where the wire+connector comes out on the back of the mount, then you mate both ends, push the "bulb" into the wall, and screw on the whole thing over and Ma no cables!

That's a Bose connector. Just cut it off, strip the jacket, and wire your speaker directly. There should be a black (-) and white (+) inside.
