What do you do with an old DLP? Samsung HL-P5685W

I purchased this TV when I worked at Circuit City in Chicago. It is right about 7.5 years old (and still on the original bulb!!!). I think I paid right about $3000 with the rebates and deal I got. I'm glad I didn't spend the extra $2k on the 1080P version, because that $2k is just about going to buy my new TV

The bulb is noticeably getting dimmer. It looks like replacement ones are $50-75 (I think they were $300 when I got the TV). I also have the custom stand that wraps around behind the pedestal and hides the wires.

Here is an old review: http://reviews.cnet.com/projection-t...-31008492.html

They call it the "Captain Kirk" in some places due to the design.

So...

What do I do with this one? Does it have any collectors value due to the unique design?

The first two options I see are

1- Sell it on Craigslist or Ebay (I really don't want to ship it)
2- Donate it to a charity

Thanks

This photo is during the day, at night the image is still very nice.

If it works ok, why not keep it?
New isn't always better. How many hours (found thru the service menu)?

BTW, it's a lamp.

The TV is only 720P and I want to get something I can mount on the wall.

Worst place to place a TV.
Can't get at them to reconfigure inputs, usually placed up too high straining ones neck, wiring issues.

They were only 720p??

Donate it, write it off on taxes and be done with it. It'll be out of your house a lot sooner also. If you are like me then once you make up your mind that it's time for something to go, you want it gone ASAP.

Yea, only 720P. Samsung came out with the 1080P right as I purchased mine, they were about $5000.

I'm not going to mount it on the ceiling...

I'll probably end up a little higher than the current stand height. The bottom of the TV will be about 3' off the ground.

I currently have just a single HDMI cable run to the wall, so there won't be much/any need to get behind the TV anyway. All the sources will run through the Yamaha RX-A1000. And all of my equipment with be concealed in the corner behind the cabinet doors.
