I just purchased a new LG Flatscreen TV (model 47LS5700) and would like to run the sound through my Sony FM Stereo receiver (model STR-DE635) which has a surround sound speaker setup. The problem is that there appears to be only one audio output on the TV, an optical digital audio out port. The receiver has an optical digital audio port (don't know whether its an out or in), so I connected an optical cable, yet I can't get any TV sound through my receiver even after shutting off my TV speaker and selecting each of the receiver functions (TV, DVD, Tuner, etc.) My receiver does not have HDMI ports, perhaps there's a converter. Any suggestions?

FYI, I get TV signal through a direct cable coaxial wire, and have a DVD player also connected to the receiver. I would like to have the sound from Netflix, HULU, music, etc. on the LG TV's apps to broadcast through my surround speakers. Please tell me I don't need to get a new receiver, but if that's the only option, I guess I'll have to.
