Anthem Perfect Bass Kit vs. Velodyne SMS-1

Is this system dedicated/proprietary for only Paradigm subs? I did some reading up on this when I was considering purchasing an Anthem/Paradigm setup - sounds like it's a great system.

I am nearly ready to pull the trigger on a Velodyne SMS-1 bass management system, but the PBK system would be far less expensive, as it is basically a microphone and some software for your computer.

If it's proprietary to Paradigm subs, then it's a no go for me. But, if you can use it on any sub, has anyone compared this to the SMS-1 system?

Correction - it lowers peaks and yes its PAradigm products only.

There is a used sms-1 for sale on audioholics.

BTW audysseyxt32 is a very nice upgrade from anthems arc imo

Thanks. I'm in Canada and that's in the US. I have found a used one here in Canada for a reasonable price. But now considering whether I should just bite the bullet and step up to the Denon 4311. I will be in need of more channels for multiple zones, although not an immediate need. How far out such a purchase could be will determine whether I go for the SMS-1 now or not.

Then there is also a thought in my head that I should just chill for a bit and enjoy my system. It's not a dedicated room, so the bass is not a super key item right now, probably.

There is another way to go about this.....

You could get a MiniDSP http://www.minidsp.com/onlinestore/b...n-a-box?sef=hc
Which is an EQ in a box, setup is via computer.... Though you would have to have a measuring system in place, which can be done for about $125.00 give or take, for equipment, but you would have to learn to use REW, which is a free download. http://www.hometheatershack.com/roomeq/

The MiniDSP would give you the ability to EQ 2 separate subs for your room...

The Denon 4311 with XT32 will do a very nice job on the Subs BTW...
I got the Integra 80.3, and I'm thrilled with what XT32 did for my systems..

Yeah no eq needed for subs with xt32, unless you have sealed DIY Subs that need some low end boost.
