Good day,
so I have finally connected my iMac to my old HDTV to watch movies more conveniently. I used a "mini display port to hdmi" adapter to make it work (+ an optical cable that goes straight to my receiver for proper sound).
At first glance, everything works smoothly and I couldn't be happier. After a few minutes into any given movie, however, the picture sometimes completely drops out and leaves me with static "snow" for about 2 seconds before turning back to normal.
It happens in irregular intervals and I simply don't know what the cause might be. Sometimes, it only slightly flickers for a millisecond, while at other times it full on drops out for a few seconds. It's as if you pull the antenna cable while watching normal TV, leaving you with a static image, before getting back to its normal state.
The cable, albeit cheap, has a good reputation and is even gold-plated. So I'm guessing it's some interference between my Mac and the TV.
Any suggestions?
