...but it's strange that Amazon doesn't have a release date, and it's only a month away.

Agreed. Going by other forums it seems it may have been pushed back, hence why it still is for preorder, date has been removed.

How exactly has it been changed? I thought all current versions have the original theatrical soundtrack (from 2003 until present).

Harry on ain't it cool has the disc, and said the soundtrack had changed since the last DVD.

Love this film and even though the soundtrack has been changed, it’s still the performances that keep me coming back to it. The only way to get that original soundtrack on the film is to get the “High School Reunion Collection” – which luckily I own (but not on Blu, dammit) – I can’t imagine being a teenager without this film. It and BREAKFAST CLUB & FAST TIMES AT RIDGEMONE HIGH define that era for me. It is a shame that Universal has this as one of their 100th Anniversary releases and didn’t secure the right music tracks to keep this film preserved to it’s original theatrical release. Alas, that’s business for ya. Always going the cheaper route.

Harry has it wrong... as usual. The 2003 High School Reunion DVD has the original theatrical soundtrack. It's even stated on the packaging. The Blu-ray is the same. He's probably remembering incorrectly. He thinks the home video version of the soundtrack is the original (pre 2003 versions).

He says that is the original track on the reunion disc, did you read the whole quote?
Yes I did read the quote.

Harry is saying the original track is only on the High School Reunion Disc.

He is also states that the Blu-ray has been changed. It hasn't. It is the same as what is on the High School Reunion Disc.

Both are the original theatrical soundtracks.

Harry is obviously confused. I'm guessing he is misremembering the pre 2003 soundtrack as what is on the High School Reunion disc that was released in 2003.

Have you got the disc to confirm this?

Yes.
