DLP for small room with 120" screen?

Hi folks,

Can anyone recommend a DLP projector for a small room that will give me a screen size of 120"? The room is 3.98m or 13f 11/16.

I looked at the Epson 5010 which will work but I can't go LCD due to the slow response time, my eyes pick up multiple frames.

I don't think there is a middle-end DLP that can do this once you factor in the length of the projector itself.

The Mits hc4000 or the Viewsonic Pro8200 might be able to fit, but it's going to be REALLY tight, so you'll have to be careful. I would go with a slightly smaller screen (116" or whatever the next one down is), and then that opens up more choices. Then you may fit a Benq w7000, although you'll need to look at the projector measurements from the manual. There are a lot of business DLP's, crossovers, and maybe a couple Home Theater DLP's that might fit, but not sure. A short throw DLP would work, but most are not really HT-specific and you don't get the best PQ-Bang for the buck so to speak.

The W7000 is 1.04 Feet long I must give myself at least 1.04 plus cable length of at least 0.3 feet. that gives me total of 1.34 Feet for Projector.

Room is 13.69 Feet so throw distance left for the W7000 is 12.35 Feet (13.69 - 1.34).

Using BenQ's Projector Calculator this can give me 104" screen size, this is absolutley maxed out. I'd be happy I think for about 116".

What about adding an anamorphic lens? Would this give me the extra size I need?

The HD8300 is about the same, a 100" screen due to the projectors larger size.

You could check out the Mitsubishi HC7800D.

You can use Projector Centrals calculator to find other projectors that will fit:

Thanks for the help seegs, I've looked at the hc8500 before but discounted it due to massive flicker and ghosting in 3d, but now after reading some reviews due to your suggestion I'm thinking the glasses could have been the wrong type. I'll go check it out again.
