I'm coming from an Onkyo 605 where I could access the GUI from the front of the receiver. Is this possible with the Denon?

Denon removed GUI access from the front panel on all models but the 3313CI. Did you load the 2113CI remote to the ONE? If yes, you may want to try either reloading the codes again or try using another model (eg. 3313 or 3312).

Denon confirmed a new update was issued on August 9 for both the 2113CI and the 1913CI. Refer to post #6 for the firmare change log information.

I also checked on the Spotify firmware upgrade, although there is no new news as to when to expect it.

Tried most of the troubleshooting tips & no luck. Also still can't get the right codes into the Harmony-1. What's frustrating me the most is not being able to move the On-Screen GUI when pressing Source Select up & down so I can change the resolution from AUTO to 1080p. Figures it would be too good to be true. Back she goes to BB tomorrow.

Thanks for the help

If you can't get the "right codes" into the ONE, what codes are you getting? Have you tried using other model remote codes as I suggested? Otherwise, you might want to check with Denon to see if they will ship you the proper remote free of charge.

----The unit shows no picture and sound via HDMI, and the Firmware version of GUI becomes FFFFFFFF.

Hurray! This is exactly what I'm also seeing from my 3313ci! I'm crossing my fingers that we'll see a 3313ci firmware upgrade soon!

This was an intentional change made by Denon to reduce the amount of time to run AUTO SETUP (based on some owners complaining the process was taking too long) and although may have minimal effect on the integrity of the Audyssey filtering process, for the most accurate results it's recommended you bypass the Setup Wizard using the Speakers - Audyssey Setup method to get all 8 mic positions.

I have a harmony 880 and it can control the 2113 without any problem. I loaded "Denon avr-2113ci" code to my harmony, please try that.

Also, what do you mean 'move the On-Screen GUI when pressing Source Select up & down'? Are you in the setup menu?

You can also http to your Denon from the web browser to change pretty much anything. I have no need for the denon remote for a long time.

Hi All,

I just received a refurbished AVR-1913 from B&H Photo for $357.15 (includes tax+shipping). When I first hooked up the unit I got nada. No sound, no video, nothing. It took a couple days reading through this thread, FAQs, and troubleshooting posts but now I have video working and audio working but ONLY from iTunes Airplay. So far, what I had to do was connect to the receiver via IP address. It took several tries but I finally got the firmware updated.

So right now my issue is that I cannot get video-based sound. I have three video input devices (all hooked up via HDMI): a cable TV box, a blu-ray/DVD player, and an Apple TV. I cannot hear audio from any of those sources. I can see the video feed show up on my TV (via HDMI). I have tried modifying different settings that seem even relatively related via Web controls but haven't gotten anything to work. I have also tried different things from the Apple app. I also tried switching to different audio modes like Movie, Music, etc. Everything works perfectly via my old receiver so I know all of the cables and devices all work properly.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Post can be removed. I solved my own problem. I had to set the HDMI Audio Out to AVR and not TV.

The take away from the above post for all new owners who purchase a demo, used, open box, or refurbished unit is to do the "reset the microprocessor" procedure listed near the back of your Owner's manual and in post #5 of this thread in order to return all settings to their factory default positions which would have alleviate the above issue.

the default button assignments in the Harmony setup are wrong. Don't just trust what Harmony "thinks" is right, you have to go into the button assignments for the Denon device and modify so D-Up/Down refer to the right commands. Harmony's will nearly always involve a bit of user tweaking to get things just right.

Another option which many use (if it's a problem to run that 2nd HDMI cable to the PJ) is to get a small secondary monitor (e.g. a cheap 20" LCD monitor) with HDMI input and use that for settings, so you don't have to fire up the PJ to make tweaks or run Audyssey.
the 1713 gives you the better XT version of Audyssey MultEQ, so I would say yes, it's worth it. If you want to save a few bucks and don't need the network features, you can get last year's 1712 for cheap as a refurb or closeout / open box. But since you have a PJ then I'm assuming it's a pretty nice setup, and having the nicer room calibration will be worth it.
Thanks for the info. Very helpful.

Updating *Problem" - no sound from HDMI after update, fixed with microprocessor reset

I just did the firmware update on the 3313CI. After I did, everything seems to go well, but a little later, no sound would come out of the HDMI, regardless of source (the two soured I was using were a Mac Mini and a Samsung Blu-Player). Sound from Optical and RCA worked fine.

I was able to fix it with a microprocessor reset -- Power On while holding Info and Back buttons.

Of course, I had to rerun the setup, etc, but at least it works.

Just wanted to post in case anyone else has this issue.

Update problem # 2 - Dialogue level grayed out

After I updated, the Dialogue Level option in the Audio menu is no longer accessible and is grayed out. It seemed to work pretty well, although I did not compared it against Reference Offset. Not sure why it's grayed out now....

My AVR 1913 within the last few days has been unable to connect to Sirius XM Channels 840-856 under MLB Play-By-Play. It connected to these stations previously. My computer can connect to these stations through a wifi connection to the same router to which the receiver is connected by an ethernet cable. I find no other XM problems and everything else works well. Is anyone else experiencing this problem?

Unless someone posts of a similar issue, you may want to try unplugging the AVR for 10 minutes (soft reset) or if still no joy, resetting the microprocessor (p. 146 OM).
I have tried to search for this answer but can you setup Audyssey for normal 5.1 (7.1) Home theater and TV watching and then have a separate setting where the Audyssey is turned off for music, stereo 2.1 listening? My system is in my living room and servers double duty as home theater and our main stereo. I want to get a receiver that makes it easy for me to "switch" (seamless would be best) between TV/HT (Audyssey on) and then musics listening (Audyssey off and my own custom settings).
^^^

use a quick select... or just manually turn it off...

i'm not real sure why you want to turn audyssey off for music though, as your room does not make any distinction between "music" and "movies"....
Thanks ccotenj

1) If I setup these quick selects and one of those is setup with the Audyssey calibration, do I have to rerun Audyssey if I switch? (I would hope not)

2) I have heard that the Audyssey processing, dynamic eq and the like really messes with stereo music reproduction because the music is eq'd ot a different stand than movie soundtracks (i.e. reference levels) so I would like to have a HT setting and Music settings. I did not know if that is possible with the Denons. Im looking at the 2112 specially.

Thanks again.
^^^

1) no you don't have to re-run...

2) don't confuse "mix level" with eq... two different things... ignore what you have "heard"... you may have to use different dynamic eq offsets...

some things to keep in mind...

1) "audyssey" is really eq'ing the room/speaker interface... not just the speaker... and it is agnostic when it comes to content...

2) "dynamic eq" settings are then used to deal with various listening/mix levels to adjust for things like the fletcher-munson effect, and so on...
thanks... I can tell my ignorance is starting to show through now. =)

Bascially I want a clean stereo music setup and a balanced Home theater setup as well. I thought the concensous was that the auddesy room correct hurt stereo music but I may be wrong. What is the optimal settings then for stereo music? I have the Pioneer SP-FS51-LR setup for my 2.1 listening (pretty modest) but I still want good sound.

we all had to learn sometime... smile.gif

nope, it won't "hurt" stereo music... quite the opposite, actually...

"best" way, imo...

- set your speakers to "small"...
- set the xover to (at least) 80hz (do not lower it if the avr sets it higher)...
- use "stereo" with audyssey engaged... if necessary, play with the dynamic eq offset...
- do not use dynamic volume of any type...

Thanks and would that be my calibration for everything when I listen to music and when I listen to music? Or Can I assign that calibration to some sort of preset, say "A", and have my hometheater setting on say preset "B"?

I have a newbie question about my incoming Denon AVR1613, arriving tomorrow. I've downloaded the manual to look over and I am unclear about internet/networking connections to the unit.

1) I currently have my cable tv coaxial cable coming into the room and plugged into my tv. Would it be better to hook the incoming coax to the Denon unit? The tv has HDMI which is how I'll be connecting it to the Denon.

2) I have wireless access in my home, but no close by hard wiring that could be run into the Denon unit. Do I need to get a wireless connection to make the Denon work with AirPlay? (I have seen a recommendation for Netgear WNCE2001-100NAS wireless adapter that looks like it would work.)

TIA,
Craig

I have a new odd issue with my 2113 all of sudden.

I'll be watching either my Blu-Ray or DVD players (they're seperate units on seperate inputs) and both cut out intermittently. I lose all image and sound suddenly and the screen has a weird black color to it (not the typical no-signal black). If the blu-ray does this, the screen never recovers, but when the DVD does this, it may come back on for a few seconds then do it again.

When I plug the blu-ray and DVD into the TV directly and bypass the denon altogether, both perform perfectly.

I've tried a hard re-set on the receiver, but the problem persists afterwards. I have an Extron control system controlling all my AV equipment, but I did not trigger any commands on it when the receiver cut-out. At first I thought it was an HDCP issue on the blu-ray, but for it to happen on the DVD player too (no-HDCP) is weird.

Anyone else experience this? Thanks.

Welcome to AVS Forum! smile.gif

1. No. AVRs don't have TV tuners, so the cable must be plugged into either the TV or a cable/sat box.
2. There are several ways to connect the AVR, to include either via a wireless "bridge" as you noted and Powerline adapters that use the household wiring.

1. receivers don't have TV tuners, so the coax cable still has to go directly into the TV. Then audio will output to the receiver either by HDMI (if your TV supports ARC) or via the standard optical output from the TV.

2. yes, a wireless "bridge" will work fine for adding wifi functionality to your HT components

Try connecting each device to each of the other HDMI inputs and see if the problem still exists. If the BDP has a "Deep Color Output" setting, set it to OFF.

Well my Denon 2113 arrived yesterday. I love it so far. The unit is much smaller than the hefty Onkyo it replaces. Best $407 i may have spent in my life. It sounds great with my Energy system. Was all set up and running easily. I guess it helped I read the manual waiting for it to arrive. Denon remote works great on iPad and Android phone. Airplay and Pandora are work rather nicely. Being a tech geek I like one more bit of hardware to play with. I hope to get Zone B set up on the back porch and try them out this weekend. I almost want another now for my home office if I can figure out an elegant way to get speaker wires to the front porch...lol
