Okay, I finally got my 3313 to update.

Networking initially worked fine (I could play songs from my server), however it would refuse to update (would give me the 'connection failed' after several minutes).

What I did:

I connected the 3313 to my router directly (temporarily removed a switch).
I had already opened port 10443 on my router (although this is unlikely the cause).
I reset the 3313's microprocessor (see manual for instructions).

Went through the installation /configuration process again and after that straight to updating which was succesful this time.

Good luck.

Next I tried a little procedure someone said worked.
I manually turned on the receiver first and wait a little bit then turned to the blue ray input....
Have you tried turning on the TV first, then the receiver, then the blu-ray player?

.I turned on the TV next.
Lastly I turned on the blue ray player.
The result is the same.
Certainly I'm doing something wrong here or there is something not working right
Lastly I did attempt to unplug the Monoprice hdmi cable and even went so far as to plug it into another hdmi input and the flutter was the same.
Now I will say that the longer i let the blue ray player stay on the slower and less pronounced the flutter becomes. if that helps at all.

The more common turn on priority is what BPlayer suggests .... TV, AVR, source.

Also be sure to try the BDP in "every" HDMI input on the AVR to see if one works better than the rest (as is often the case). And lastly, you may want to give the HDMI HDCP reset procedure a try as listed below.

Also, don't simply turn them on in that order. You should wait until each device has finished booting before turning on the next device. It isn't only Blu-ray players which can be slow in starting up.

Not wanting to keep beating on this topic continually, but this is precisely why I purchased my Harmony One.

I was having HDMI EDID problems with one specific bit of kit. Harmony software offer a resolution to this, in that you can select component turn-on sequence and amount of time between each component turn-on in any activity. Plus, you don't have to think of it again after installing this configuration to remote.

Haven't had that HDMI EDID problem since. biggrin.gif

Nah ... it's worth repeating. For generally < $75 (Harmony 650) adding a Harmony remote adds all sorts of WAF points on multiple levels and makes life so much easier for the TV/home theater operators. smile.gif

Quick question. Can I split the video signal from the audio signal (have a 2113)? For example, if I want to play a video game but have music from a different input. I'm thinking this is not possible especially since both are connected via HDMI. But perhaps there is a workaround?

Ah, ok. I figured I had to do something like that. Thanks for the quick reply.

Hy, I am thinking of upgrading from my Onkyo 809 to de Denon 3313, the Onkyo is very nice but I miss the music I used to have on my Denon 2808 when listening to music, I would like to ask what you think about this change especially in the sound department.
I would also like to know what image procesor chip does de Denon 3313 have, I cant find any expecificacion about it, it only sais that it suports 4K, I would like to know because de Vita Chip on the Onkyo 809 is really nice, and greatly enhances de picture quality.

Thanks, and greetings from Spain.smile.gif

Not sure what you mean by "missing the music"? Otherwise, they both use the same version of Audyssey MultEQ XT as does the 2808. The 3313 uses an Analog Devices 8003 video chip.

Thanks for your reply, what I mean with "missing the music" is that my Denon 2808 sounded better with music, I notice it in stereo and also on some bluray concerts, its not a huge diference by any means, but I do notice it (wish I didnt), sometimes I think that on newer gear they put a lot of new stuf like but they cut a little on the sound department, maybe that is why some people prefer older stuf.

One last question is if someone knows how does the Analog Devices 8003 video chip compare to de HQV Vita chip on the Onkyo 809?, I know its a dificult question, but are they comparable or in the same league?

Greetings.

Great question. Can some of you 1913 and CI model owners comment on whether the ADV video chip does a better job (or no real difference) in upscaling SD content than your TV, providing both the AVR model and brand of TV you're using? Thanks.

@NeogeoG - the HQV Vita question is likely better asked in the 809 owner's thread.

Even after upgrading to the latest firmware (Spotify upgrade) my iPad denon app STILL is unable to detect my 1913. Airplay and network connectivity work fine. Possible Router setting? Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks.
I received my AVR-3313 a few days ago but it has a small problem. It can't detect the network. Now before everyone runs away I really only need one thing. It's obviously the dhcp that is having a problem so i want to specify the IP settings manually, however the setup doesn't allow me to do this, all those items are greyed out in the Network setup menu so I can't select them. Does anyone know of a special key press or some way I can activate the network settings so i can manually add the ip address etc?

In case anyone's thinking it might be a different issue. I have tried this with various switches, direct connects to modem/router and also even 2 different dhcp servers - one in my modem/router and one I setup on one of my linux servers. The dhcp servers do supply the unit with an ip it just never accepts/adds it. Since the 3313 can have network features in standby mode I can select this (after the failed network setup) and I can even browse to and operate the web interface when the unit is in standby. I even used the firmware update from the web interface and the 3313 even updated it's firmware which i think is now a pretty recent version (Version 1490-0109-0000-3010-6737). But none of that has helped. I am still stuck with the same problem, won't connect via dhcp and won't allow me to select the manual setup from within the network setup menu. I even tried disabling the dhcp server hoping the Denon would error out with a message like 'cannot find a dhcp server - would you like to enter settings manually', but of course no luck. So the network works in standby mode but not when it's on.. great.. frown.gif

And yes I have reset the microprocessor a couple of times as well.. real pain when I can't reload the old config.

Are you able to set DHCP to OFF per p. 137 in the Owner's manual?
Nope, thats what I am saying, all those menu items are greyed out and unselectable, the only things in there I can select are the "Information" and another for "Last.fm" (which isn't shown in the manual). It's what I want to find out, some way to make those menu items selectable.

The 3313 only lets you change things when they are available eg: like changing the audio on dolby digital stuff (Cinema EQ etc) is greyed out, say when listening to a stereo source. I believe the Network menu is the same and as the 3313 "thinks" it doesn't have a network connection then it doesn't let you change the settings.

This must have gotten lost in the shuffle of all the other questions. DENON 2113 front AUX hdmi questions:

Has anybody gotten the front AUX HDMI to play either video or sound? Im trying to play my laptop (which has HDMI) through my receiver preferable with video so I can watch youtube or downloaded videos on TV. I also like to use the MOG music service since it streams at 320 and its free on my computer. So far no luck when I attach the hdmi cable the receiver shows analog hook up i.e. wont even let me view the setup actions through the gui like a HDMI connection would.

Help appreciated.

Try doing a "network reset" (ie. press/hold UP/DOWN arrows on front panel while powering on the AVR. If still no joy, exchange for another unit.

The file could be seen and played with the Denon app for iPhone.
As a note, the drive had mixed content and it only showed the music file and folders (nice not to have to scroll through the unwanted stuff).

Thanks for the reply BBrix.

Also what size flash drive do you use?
I searched for info on the limit and can't find it.
The limit for a FAT32 formatted drive is 2TB.

Can anyone tell me how long it take the Denon 3313 to startup? How many seconds after you push the power button, before you hears sound and see video?

I had a chance to play with this briefly the other night when you posted your question; bottom line, I experienced similar symptoms as you did. I couldn't get the GUI to display on the TV with the front AUX input selected as the source, and I swapped my Roku box from the rear HDMI input it's plugged into and couldn't get any audio/video when I had it plugged into the front HDMI input. I did confirm that HDMI-6 was assigned to AUX....

So as of this point I can't really help redface.gif I've been super busy and haven't had a chance to dig deeper, but I'm also curious to hear reports from other users if they've had success using the front HDMI input.

I haven't timed it with a stopwatch but it's somewhere between 5 and 10 seconds, but closer to 5, I would say 6-7 seconds or so.

Front HDMI issue?

Let's expand the test group to any XX13 owner ..... does the front HDMI input work correctly on your XX13 unit?

That makes sense thanks for helping me out... so far no luck on my side with any source to the front AUX HDMI port. I may call Denon to see whats up.
Definitely, especially with at least two of you already noting the issue.

Having an issue with my AVR-1913 and the HDMI output to my Samsung plasma.

I have a media center PC connected to CBL/SAT via HDMI and HDMI going to the TV. Whenever I do something like start or stop a recording from the DVR the TV will reset (?) and behave as if the HDMI input has changed (although it stays on HDMI1). This also happens when changing from recorded to live TV. It seems that the TV is thinking the signal from the receiver is getting interrupted.

This doesn't happen when my HTPC is connected directly to the TV. This is how I have it configured as a workaround (HTPC --> TV), with an optical cable going to the AVR for audio. However with this setup I lose the internet radio functionality.

Any ideas? Loving the receiver, just need to get this figured out!

Thanks,
Matt
Try connecting the PC to each of the other HDMI inputs on the 1913 to see if one works better than the current one. Also, not sure how you lose internet radio capability?
