Just got my new AVR-2113 yesterday. Waiting for my new LED (due to arrive Monday) and cables/connectors before setting everything up.
The really good news was that I originally ordered the AVR-2112 from EE thru Amazon- the day after I placed the order I get an email from EE stating that they are now out of the 2112 and would I like a free upgrade to the 2113!! Didn't have to think long and hard on that question- EE rocks!!

This seems like a simple question that I can't seem to find in search. How do you program the 3313 remote to turn your TV off and on?

Is it this simple? i just, just purchased Netflix and have been watching streaming vid. from my laptop. Is it just a simple matter of connecting a HDMI connection from my PC to the front HDMI port of my 2113 to get it to display this streaming video on my TV and audio through to my speakers? tkx

I had the exact same experience with EE. Thank God they ran out of the old model. Whew!!

it *should* be, but it really depends on the capabilities of your laptop. Assuming it can output audio + video through HDMI, your proposed plan should work, but note that many computers are a pain to get to work properly with HDMI output, especially when you throw in a "repeater" like a receiver in between the PC and the display.

since it sounds like you now have a streaming subscription to Netflix, it would probably be a good idea to invest in a more "standard" consumer electronics device that supports Netflix (they all seem to nowadays!). Something like an AppleTV, PS3, Roku box, networked Blu-ray player, etc. will allow you to access your Netflix streaming subscription and will likely play nice with the AVR better than the laptop will. Furthermore, you won't have to go to the trouble of plugging in the laptop every time you want to watch a movie.

I was able to find a Roku box on craigslist for like 50 bucks. So many devices support Neflix now, it should be pretty cheap and straightforward to add such a device to your setup and then not have to worry about plugging in the laptop every time.

Thanks for the response. I guess my next question is if I sell the 1913 and get the 2113 will it do what I need it to do?

I have two other zones (den and patio). I will be connecting the zone 2 pre-amp outs on the 2113 to the Kenwood amp I have and then from there to the two other zones. If I want to play music in both zones and in Zone 1 (where the Denon is situated), will the system work? I guess I don't really know how the zone 2 pre-amp functions exactly. Can I play music in Zone 1 (living room) and Zone 2 (and 3) at the same time? Or could I choose to simply have music play to Zone 2 (and 3) without anything in Zone 1? Thanks for the assistance.

Does anyone know if gapless FLAC DLNA playback will make its way down to the 1713? Is it even possible on this receiver?

Zone 2 can play either the same source or an independent source.

Remember that the 2113 (like the 1913) is only a 2-zone receiver, so as far as it's concerned there is only that 2nd zone. Any "split" between the Zone 2 and 3 speakers would have to happen upstream in the Kenwood (hopefully it has some kind of A/B speaker switching to allow you to activate each independently).

The way it works is that you will turn on the power to Zone 2 and select the source in the Denon, and then the audio signal will flow out the RCA Zone 2 pre-outs into an input on the Kenwood receiver. From there, everything (volume, speaker selection, etc) is controlled by the Kenwood.

Not likely, otherwise it would have been made available with the update to the 1913 and higher models.

Thanks for the clarification. Yes, that is my intention to use an AB switch on the Kenwood. So here goes on purchasing a new 2113. If anyone is interested in a two week used 1913, PM me as I plan to put it on ebay soon. Thanks.

I have my 2113ci installed.
I have the cooling problem fixed and am moving on to complete ting setup.

I have searched and cannot find a solution to this issue;
When muting the mute icon stays on the screen. I have a plasma and do not want an icon to stay onscreen indefinitely.
Is there a way to make it not Show or make it temporary?
Sometimes my wife will mute for a long time.
I do not want IR to become an issue.

Thanks.
Sorry, but no, although note that if it's a modern plasma within the past few years, it's not likely to be an issue.

Finally connected my Panasonic P60ST50 to my Denon 1913. I've got my xbox, a blu-ray player, and an xfinity DVR box connected to it. I had to work through a couple noob issues, but for the most part everything seems to be working pretty well....except...I'm getting a consistent, freeze/lock-up when I do the following:

-Watch a program previously recorded on the DVR
-Hit the 'Back' button when the show is about to complete
-Click the 'X' to delete the program from the DVR

Whatever I try to do next, the screen goes to black, with a fuzzy greenish bar across the top of the screen (maybe a couple inches wide). There's still audio playing, however the screen stays black. I found that if I toggle the source on the receiver, like switch to the bluray, then back to Cable, then it's back to normal. Any idea as to why I'm facing this issue? Suggestions?

Note: All the connections are via high quality HDMI cables (the highest monoprice offers smile.gif )

Thanks in advance!

I got the 2113 today and I am having problems setting it up. When I run the speaker calibration the receiver shuts off after detecting left front speaker. I chheckef the cables and everything is fine. After 3-4 tries I finally got it to detect all my speakers. But when I moved the Mic to position 2 it shut off again. Did I get a dud?

I used the speaker levels and ran the test tone manually and all speakers are being detected.
Do you have any in-wall wiring that you cannot see or are you able to check the integrity of the speaker wire from the AVR to each speaker? Try swapping the FL and FR speaker wires to see if the issue presents after the FR speaker (ie. issue with FL speaker). Try resetting the microprocessor (p. 148 OM) to see if that resolves the issue. If not, it may have to be replaced.

The issue is most likely with the DVR, so try either (1) connecting the DVR (HDMI) to the TV with DVR(optical) to the AVR or (2) DVR (component/optical) to the AVR to see if that resolves the issue.

I've had a string of bad luck these days. It seems everything I picked up involved searching through manuals, tweaking, troubleshooting. Nothing was just EASY. Anyways, I bought a cheap $2 HDMI cable form the $ store, plugged it into the HDMI port of my 3 year old laptop and the other end to the AUX of the front of the 2113. To my surprize, my login in screen appeared both on my laptop and TV. No fuss, no friggin #$%$@, no manual search, no nothing. I had streaming Netflix in mere seconds!. The wife thought I was a genuis. hehe!! I'm really starting to enjoy this receiver!

I must have been tired last night. It was a short on one of the speakers. the + wire was touching the - clamp. Wasted a good hour or more sorting it out. Was looking at the AVR all the time when the problem was on the speaker end.

stupid question here, can the 3313 do a 9.2 setup by adding external amps?

No it can't. Only the 4xxx level models can do 9 or 11 channels.

No, afaik it can only do 7.1, though it can dynamically switch between front height, front wide, and surround back depending on the input and source material.
OK, here's a problem I've not read about and I can't seem to get fixed.

This morning when I turned on the system, regardless of which input is selected, the audio seems to be coming from a radio station. Very weak but it is what it sounds like. Even if I go to a source that has no audio at the moment.

I tried a network and system reset, and now have the power unplugged for a bit. The resets didn't correct the problem. Hopefully pulling the power for a bit will.

Assuming it doesn't, any clues?

I've looked at the sourcing and such and can't find anything that would cause that and all the inputs seem correct.

HELP!!
Ooops, my description is incorrect.

The audio is with the selection, it is just at an extremely low level with lots of ambient noise. I had to push volume way up to discern that.

^^
Try separating the speaker wire leading away from the AVR from any nearby power cables.

Thanks for that, and I did check that out.

As it turns out something just went wild! After resetting, power pulling and all I was ready to send it back for a replacement. But I thought, "what about HDMI connections?". So I pulled all connectors, HDMI, antenna, sub and reconnected them. Turned it on and everything worked like it was supposed to.

Then I tried to 'load' the config.dat I had made a few days ago. Always failed to load, so I had to do a complete startover. Not a big deal as it just takes a little time. Being retired means time has less importance!! smile.gif

Hopefully this won't occur again.

Anytime you SAVE the config file to a PC, you'll want to confirm it's not filled with all zeroes.

Got it! Saved and checked to not be full of zeroes. I should be good to go next time I need it.

I suppose as they keep on adding things we think we need, the units get more complex and computer like and we can expect the occasional burp.
I Just signed up for Netflix here in Sweden. Works pretty well expect for running the BBC Life documentary in DD Plus 5.1. I get all the surrounding sounds in all speakers/channels (even the center plays some of the sounds) but not the voice of the narrator.
I have tried it through both my Apple TV 3 and my PS3 but with same results. Both are connected via HDMI. Doesn't matter if I run it in Multi chan or in stereo.
The only way to get the sound/voice of the narrator is by changing the playback settings to stereo in the the PS3 (Not able to change this on the ATV3)
All other movies that I have tried with DD plus works.
Hey everyone,
I've been searching around this thread and i haven't really been able to find anyone with an issue similar to mine, so i'm hoping someone can help or point me in the right direction. I had a Denon AVR-887 that i just updated today to a AVR-3313CI.
I currently have it connected to a Panasonic PT-AE1000U home theater projector, and it will not display any video through the 3313 to the projector. I have a smaller computer monitor that i connect to the 3313 and it works. I also have tried direct connecting my sources to the projector and they display fine (obviously no audio however). It seems that the 3313 is the culprit here but i can't imagine what the issue would be since its outputting properly to the computer monitor i plugged into it.
I cannot get any of the denon menu's to come up and it will not display any video from my sources (a PS3, a XBOX 360, a media center PC running XBMC, and a Telus optik cable box)
I have upgraded to the latest firmware, and like i said, those same devices are displaying correctly on my computer monitor that i tested by plugging into the 3313.
Am i missing some settings or something that is specific to outputting to a projector or something?
