Further, It seems the seperate 2ch-speaker-setup has been dropped on the 2113/2313 compared to 1912/2312 and now I would have to go for a higher end model to get that. For me it's important to be able to quickly turn down/off the sub while watching a movie (or listening to music, though in 2ch I prefer no sub anyway). I guess I can just go into Menu/Audio and do both, adjust level or turn it on/off?
Thanks,
Phil

1. Although the Quick Select buttons have been removed from the remote, they are still accessible via the front panel.

2. Correct. The custom 2CH settings have been dropped from the 2313CI and lower models (only avail on the 3313CI).

no...when 2CH playback is set to "A" sub works and when set to a+b sub works...sub does not work when set to B (all of this when amp assign is frontB)
So then ...as I suggested ... you can simply use the A+B setting and disconnect the Front A speakers. This is much easier when using banana plugs.

I have ordered my 3313 it will be here by Christmas....so it won't connect wirelessly to my home network?? It won't be able to do firmware updates or be controlled via Roomie or stream content unless it has a wired connection? Damn I've done so much reading on the 3313 my head hurts, overlooked this. Do not have Ethernet in my theater and just had to get directv's wifi transceiver to network the directv receivers in order to allow Roomie to control them. I hate this hobby/addiction.

You apparently didn't read the link I posted.

Dude I've read every one of your posts! Lol...you're work is appreciated and part of the reason I'm upgrading my older Denon to the 3313 so take it easy biggrin.gif...looks like a wireless bridge is needed, I could also then have my Oppo bdp-103 wired from bridge as well.

That's what I use and it works great. It extends your wi-fi network and has 4 LAN ports to pull ethernet from the wireless signal
post #3939 of 10468
My solution to Internet connection was to use plug an airport express near the Denon AVR and make an ethernet connection from Airport express - software updates work well. You could try a similar solution

no...when 2CH playback is set to "A" sub works and when set to a+b sub works...sub does not work when set to B (all of this when amp assign is frontB)

This could be part of a design philosophy change, where Denon expects the "B" speakers to be in another room or secondary setup. They probably got a lot of complaints from people who switched to their "B" speakers and were like, why is my sub still going boom boom in the living room?

Added to the removal of the 2ch custom settings from mid level models... there seems to be a design shift hsppening. The 4520 owners have reported that the 2ch custom settings are only active in the 2ch/B type configurations, where you switch to a completely different pair of speakers for dedicated 2ch listening.

In fact, could a 3313 owner test this? Are the 2ch stereo/direct custom settings grayed out? On the 4520 they are grayed out unless amp assign is set to "FrontB" or "2CH" modes.

With the ATV2 also connected via an optical cable and that optical cable source selected for audio, you should then be able to use the "Video Source" setting to select the component video input.

When I try this, it's still the ATV2 on the screen. I'm havnig a tough time getting the component dvd to show up, even when dvd is selected as a video source.

Question about zones: I'm looking at the 3313 and loving the matrixed HDMI 2 idea for zone 2 (bedroom). I also have wired speakers outside. My main setup is 5.1, would it be possible to have the extra 2 channels power my outdoor speakers as zone 3? Or are pre-outs my only option for zone 3? Thanks for all the great info and details on this line of Denons!

I have searched the thread and found at least one person had this issue. While watching my Uverse, the sound sould dip down for a sec or two then normal. Receiver is up to date. Didn't see any solutions. I didn't know if anyone else is experiencing the issue or know a fix for it. (2113)

If you have Dyn Vol enabled, try turning it OFF.

Yes, as noted on p. 93 in the Owner's manual, the AMP ASSIGN setting for the extra 2CH can be set to Zone 3 to power your outdoor speakers. smile.gif

If you also are using DVD for an HDMI source, try setting the component video input to an unused source.

I dont have any HDMI coming from teh blu ray player. Another annoyance about my denon is there is an HDMI handshake issue with my blu ray which is why i have to use components. I called denon, and they said, sometimes this just happens..either use components or buy a new dvd player...very helpful. In any event , still no dvd while listetning to music via ATV.

DId you try connecting the DVD(HDMI) to every HDMI input on the back panel to see if one works better than another as they are not all created equal? Also, DVD(HDMI2) defaults to "HDMI" out of the box, so try setting it to "None".

This is exactly what I'm doing. The extra 2 amplifiers are assigned to zone 3 (though in my case, the bathroom, but same idea).

i tried this ..no luck. I'm confused. Is the issue b/c i have ATV hooked up to media player via HDMI? Is this the reason I can't use DVD as a video source?

Hi all. Long time lurker but it's time I posted.

Firstly I love this forum, it's been extremely helpful. Love the 3313 too but...
I need some help with Zone 2 (groan). Basically my whole signal path is digital. Got my blu ray player audio working on my zone 2 TV using the L and R analog outs from the player (main zone is a projector, tv is in another room). Now my issue is the Xbox 360. It's HDMI and I can get an audio adaptor with digital and analog outs on it. The problem: is how do I get the audio into the receiver, out to the zone 2 speakers? Video is fine, but the "Game" HDMI input doesn't have a corresponding analog audio input like the Blu Ray input does.

Anyone got a solution for this? Or will I just have to use another HDMI input, like "DVD" for it to work? I'd really love the Xbox to be accessible via the Game button on the remote though.

Should have gotten the 4520 to get the digital inputs on zone 2!

Thanks for your help!

If you're using the HDMI input for audio, yes ... which is why I indicated you would also need to have an optical input and using that input source for your audio input when you wanted to view another video source.

Bingo! You'll need to assign the xBox HDMI to another source name that matches one of the unused analog audio source names. Note that the 4520 has the same "no digital to Zone 2" limitation.

I can't tell by your reponse whether or not you found a solution that works or you were just thanking people for their responses. Just to make sure, yes, you can, but not the way you initially intended. jdsmoothie's link showed a couple of choices. Here's another that should work.... http://homestore.cisco.com/en-us/adapters/linksys-WET610N_stcVVproductId65221232VVviewprod.htm#self

IMHO, if you can go wired, I'd do it, because you get the maximum network speed.

JD, thanks for taking the time. Let me explain my exact setup.

I have ATV2 HDMI going into "Media Player" input.
I have my optical audio going from ATV to optical input on receiver.
Blu Ray Player hooked up via Component to DVD input on AVR ( I am using components b/c it says "no signal" when I use HDMI
I go to Input assign, for Media Player , I changed HDMI to None, and Optical to OPT 1.
Then I click on video source, I select DVD.

The screen goes black for a seconf then back to the ATV menu. Sounds like it's set up the way u are suggesting but isn't working?

Loving my 1713! I decided it was time to get a universal remote. I picked up a Harmony 650 for a little over $50. I am very impressed. It controls my Visio tv, Roku XS, Panny DVD/Recorder, Dish 211K and of course the 1713. The only thing that does not work is the 4 mode buttons. I tried the button programming in the Harmony setup but no go. Then I tried the learning setup and that did not work either.

I thought I would ask here first since there are really smart people here!
