Hi
I bought the receiver Denon 1713 on Boxing Day and hooked it up.

I really like the sound. I have a quick question.

I was watching Netflix on ps3 last night and for the first time, during Netflix, a black screen came up for a few second, video went out but sound was still there. Video came back after a few seconds. Have been using the Denon for 3 days and this is the first time.

Does this mean my Denon is defective or is this a common issue? Anyway I can fix it?

Please advice. Thank you!

The are solutions!

I do plan on lowering the center spkr by either securing my DIY protruding shelf to the underside of the cabinet 'top'. This would lower it 2" and be out of screen block mode to fix the sacrilidge. wink.gif I am also considering attach top mount drawer slides to the 2" thick cabinet top to create a short shelf/drawer that could slide in/out with speaker on it.

Note: Johnmeyer could use drawer slides to create the same effect on his white cabinet's center channel if he wanted to improve dialogue.

To me, I really dislike the look of the center on top of the TV in my set up.

Make sure the "Deep Color Output" setting on the PS3 is set to OFF.

I have wi fi in my vizio tv. Turn off dish network and Tried to run you tube, no sound came through 2113. Turn on dish network, saw you tube on screen still no sound. Not sure where to look in manual for answer.

Depends on whether you're trying to pass the TV audio back to the AVR via the HDMI (ARC) or via an optical cable from the TV to the AVR which is likely your best choice. For the former, ensure the Vizio HDMI-CEC feature is enabled and the TV audio is set to external speakers, while on the AVR ensure HDMI-Control is set to ON.

When watching DVDs, I've noticed that my 1613 lowers the volume and then ramps it back up to normal when the DVD hits a new chapter/track. I never noticed it before except that the movie we were watching last night had background music that played over two chapters. Is that normal and if so, is there a way to turn it off?

Do you have Dyn Volume enabled? If yes, set it to OFF.

I just got a Denon 3313 AV receiver and can pass-trough my UVerse HDMI signal to the TV when the receiver is off however I only get the sound when the UVerse digital audio output is set to stereo. When I switch to surround, the video passes through but no sound. I checked the TV (Hitachi P42T501) options but there really aren't any unless I'm using digital optical audio. Is there a way around this issue on the 3313 so I can leave the sound set to surround yet still pass-through?

I realize that I could always have the receiver on when watching but this is overkill at times and I don't want to switch options back and forth in UVerse if I don't have to.

Is the Uverse able to pass surround audio to the TV when connected directly as many cannot? The best configuration is likely to be connecting the Uverse (HDMI) directly to the TV with optical from the Uverse to the AVR.

Well... I REALLY hope it isn't a "bad network card." The AVR doesn't even have built in Wi-Fi, so at the price it goes for you would think the network card could at least work. Sigh... I never thought just receiving a consistent internet signal would be so difficult. Oh well, when I figure something out, I'll it. Hope someone else will do the same.

Thank you JD, I tried turning off the Dynamic Volume but I still have the same issue. I also tried playing it through the TV's built-in speakers and did notice a slight skip in the music but nothing like the volume drop and fade-in that occurs when playing through the Denon. Any other ideas? Is this a quirk on Denon's AVRs or is this only an issue with mine?

Unless it's occuring on every DVD you watch, more likely just an issue with that particular disc.

I've been pricing the 3313 on line and the price raised $50~$60 overnight. Amazon was $969 yesterday and $1029 today; it was the same on every site where I had previously priced. Even eBay, that I 'm not sure I'll deal with, went from $807 to $855. Anyone know of a better price?

I've seen references to good deals from Electronics Expo and I just checked their price; it's outrageous. They have an 'open box' 3313 for $1399! Retail on the Denon website is only $1199; makes no sense.

You need to make sure you have the required codecs to decode that on your computer. I use the shark007 codec pack. Then in settings make sure you have HD audio set to pass thru. This will ensure that you get the original audio stream.

No subwoofer output with multi channel stereo

My sub seems to work well with Dolby digital + movies, but not at all when I play mp3's. I've read lots of posts that say just set the receiver to small speakers, but that doesn't work. I have the bass settings on LFE+Main, and the LPF set to 80hz. Despite my best efforts, my sub remains a useless piece of furniture when playing music.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Well we were watching a TV series on DVD where the opening and closing theme music starts quietly in the background (while one of the characters is monologuing) before ramping up for the opening and closing credits. The issue I described happened in every beginning and ending of every episode over the four discs that we watched.

I think the volume ramp-up happens at the beginning of any new audio signal as I've noticed the same thing happening at the beginning of Netflix streaming and Pandora radio streamed from my iPhone. Have you never noticed something similar?

Dude, CALL THEM. The best priced are never posted online, Denon is rigorous about policing msrp for their authorized dealers.

The LPF is irrelevant, that only controls the LFE channel (and btw this should be set to 120hz, not 80).

The important setting is the CROSSOVER you set in your FR/FL speakers. Make sure they are set to small with an 80hz crossover. My guess is that they were set to large, and you changed them to small, but didn't raise the crossover from 40hz. There is almost no content in music below 40hz.

In MultiCH Stereo mode, all channels utilize the bass management configured to the FR/FL channels (the signal just gets copied to the other channels).
