Green screen is gone... at least for now... After reading a million suggestions, I saw some good ideas on this AVS page - http://www.avsforum.com/a/denon-2011-and-2012-avr-faq-setup-and-troubleshooting-guide#user_L9

Not sure exactly what it is that fixed, but between doing a factory reset and at the same time unplugging all HDMI cables, powering off the TV, and unplugging the dennon 1613 and then walking away from everything for a half hour, everything is now up and operational. Taking suggestions I read and turned off the standby mode for the appletv.

Crossing my fingers this does the trick!

1) When playing Pandora via iPhone/Airplay (or any source thru the 2113 for that matter), the volume cannot be controlled from the iPhone for zone 2, correct? The only way to control Zone 2 volume is thru the Zone 2 Amp (via Harmony, it's remote, or manually). Though it seems obvious, I just wanted to confirm.

2) Airplay only works over WIFI, not 3G correct?

3) Does Airplay only work for Apps that are supported in the 2113? As a test, I tried to see if Slacker would play via airplay and it didn't. I don't need Slacker, I just wanted to see if a non Denon supported App would work over Airplay.

Good afternoon all. I'm considering upgrading my sony str-dg920 but I'm not really sure i will see any real benefits. The reason upgrade is under consideration is my recent upgrade to 3d and the fact the sony has no 3d pass through. I'm making it! Work with with directv box via optical and bluray via seperate hdmi outputs for audio and video. I also have a darbee darblett that I'd like to use for directv as well as blu ray, but can't due to the receivers limitations. My setup is: 65" pan. Vt50, 5.1 mirage speakers with floor standing front right/left speakers, Sony str-dg920. I'd really appreciate your opinions on whether an upgrade is needed and whether id see any real change in performance. Thanks

You can really stream any audio playing on your iphone/ipad/ipod via AirPlay. Double tap your home button, swipe your finger across the bottom left-to-right, and you will see a volume bar and an airplay button. If you activate the Denon here any audio will route to the receiver.

Just wanted to post something that i found very concerning. I have Infinity Primus 363s for F/L and F/R that are supposedly labeled 8ohm and Harman won't back off that rating. Some evidence shown this to not be true that these towers dip into 4ohms at times. I normally wouldn't post this here, but since my Denon 2313 died after one week of use, i found it pertinent that my new Onkyo 818 will only allow me to set 4 or 6 ohms. It is quite possible that my unit was just a bad apple, but i wanted to share my experience with the Denon users.

More than likely simply a defective unit as the AVR would have shut down in protection mode if it was being run too hard before any damage was done. Not sure of the relevance of mentioning the 818 as it can ONLY be set to either 4-ohm or 6-ohm (regardless of whether running 8-ohm speakers or not).

sorry, lack of awareness. i thought it made the impendence setting on it's own from 8ohm to 6ohm.

No, that is a user setting and actually should be left at 6-ohm regardless of what speakers are being used (4-ohm or not) otherwise the current is simply limited to those speakers otherwise. Although the 818 is designed to power 4-ohm speakers, it too should shut down if driven too hard (and not defective). At average volume levels, Denon AVRs should have no issue with 4-ohm speakers, especially not the 2313CI.

I have a 3313 and I am using Serviio as a DLNA server via Denon phone app for playing music. I get the playlists on the app from my server and it plays as well, however, I have to play each song individually as Denon stops after playing just one song. Any ideas how to make the Denon play the whole playlist rather than individual songs? or I've to create all my playlists on Denon? in that case anyway to import them?

Hi all, been lurking around here for some time and ended up picking up the Denon 2113CI. My problem is that I have yet to been able to get airplay to work. Here is the setup.

Wireless:
ATV 3
Laptops
iPhone

Wired via WD LiveWire:
PS3
Denon receiver

Mind you, both the PS3 and Denon receiver have accessed the internet (firmware updates, internet radio, etc) via the WD LiveWire and I can control the receiver via the Denon app just find. I cannot; however, select the receiver airplay (only displays the ATV). Anyone have any solutions for this?

There's no input to select on the receiver. If the Denon and your i-Whatever are on the same network, you should be able to click the airplay icon on the i-Whatever and see the Denon. I have used it from my iPhone as well as iTunes on a Windows 7 laptop. It has worked surprisingly well.

Budget from $500-$700, for watching movie and sometime playing music.

For Airplay to work you need to be on the "same broadcast network domain" or simply put you need to be physically connected to the same switch/ Wireless AP. This is the limitation of the Apple's Bonjour Service, which is required for Apple network devices to find each other for services such as Airplay or Airprint. You can independently connect to internet and even your DLNA services will be running through Network but not Airplay if there is any issue with network broadcast domain.

Firstly, you need to ensure if your iOS device can discover Airplay service broadcast by Denon. For this download any Bonjour Browser App from App store and see if you can find Denon on it (https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/discovery-bonjour-browser/id305441017?mt=8)

If it is not then in that case you need to do network troubleshooting rather do any setting on Denon. What Wi-fi device(s) are you using? there are certain settings on particular Wi-fi devices that are enabled by default and can interfere with Bonjour Service.

My components are the same as yours (phone is iPhone in case that matters). The Denon app will only play one song at a time, which means the app needs to be running to load successive songs; i.e., if you start playing an album, it will stop after playing after it finishes the song it was playing when you turned off the app. In this mode, it appears that the receiver is only capable of receiving a command to load a single song, after which it can work on its own until the song ends. At that point it needs another command from the external control.

In the DLNA world, you can involve a third component (DLNA control point) to direct streaming from your server (Serviio) to the render (Denon). I tried a few of the free apps without a lot of luck, though the focus was on playing albums as a playlist is something I would typically load when entertaining and was fine standing in front of the TV loading this via the IR remote.

As a quick experiment, I tried a playlist with Twonky Beam. It did not run the playlist directly, put allowed you to load the songs into its queue. After that, I turned off the phone (without running anything else on it), and the songs played to completion. My knowledge about running apps in the background or while the phone screen is off is limited, so I do not know how stable this solution would be. The App is free for both iOS and Android, so it would only cost time to try.

Can you stick a wireless USB adapter into the denon receiver?

And the only thing a hard wired Internet connection would be good for is to use the apps and updates right???

I think the SIriusXM function of the 2113 and other AVRs requires the LAN hard wired connection?

I just upgraded from a Sony STR-DH810 (which I'm assuming is a year older than your 920) to a Denon 2313 and I can tell a difference - especially after I ran Audyssey. I now hear things in my Boston Acoustics 5.1 system rear speakers that I never did before. Plus AirPlay is great. Two channel audio sounds a lot better too. I don't have a 3D TV so I can't comment on that.

1) I downloaded the free Denon OEM App to iPhone (and iPad). I cannot get it to adjust volume for Zone 2. I move the slider for Z2 on iPhone and it snaps back to -40db. Actually even with the Denon 2113 remote (w/ zone 2 selected) it does not change zone 2 volume. (Main Zone is 7.1, Z2 powered by Sony AVR) Is it supposed to be able to adjust the Denon's line level out to the Sony AVR used to power Z2, not actually adjust the Sony's volume? But neither seems to be happening. (Z2 is showing on 2113 display) You may have been assuming Z2 was being powered by the 2113 w/ 5.1 set for main zone, which is not my case.

1a) Is there any tutorial that is recommended for learning the Denon brand iOS App? Have people found a pay for App that is worth buying? DeRemote for $4.99 only has 17 reviews. Half love it, half hate it.

2113 won't power off or accept any commands. Not via remotes OR even manually on unit. All knobs/buttons on 2113 do nothing. [Edit: unplugged 1 min. Seems back to normal now.]

I was trying to learn to save Favorites. First odd thing was that pressing Option button (manual pg 64), did not open a menu to make that Pandora station a favorite. [Edit: I now see Favorites cannot be set from Pandora. Internet Radio has 'Option' icon in lower rt. corner, so I guess if there is no such icon, a favorite cannot be set. (my bad)]Next I went to setting the 3 Favorite buttons on Denon remote by holding down a Fav button while a Pandora station of mine was playing. But each time I'd try to select (change) to a different Fav button (by just pressing, not holding), that button would set to the music channel I had just set for a different button. So all three buttons got set to one channel. Maybe their needs to be more than a few seconds delay between memorizing Fav buttons. When setting the Fav button to the station playing, I held the button down more than 3 seconds. I waited for the memory indicator to disappear (maybe 5 seconds).

Edit: I closed the Denon brand App on both iDevices. no change.
Before unplugging the 2113, I thought I'd ask if that is a safe way to 'un freeze' my 2113.

Does anybody know if a Wifi USB stick will work to get a signal on a denon receiver?

Strange that you were able to get this to work. I'm running a 2113ci with an Epson 5020ub projector. I bought both a 30' and 40' redmere cable and the 30' delivered the signal perfectly while the 40' wouldn't connect either directly from my computer or via the receiver. It's currently headed back to monoprice. Of course, I could have just gotten a bad cable since you seem to be running a 50' without problems.

Settings> App Settings> Dedicated Mode : choice of 'Use iOS Auto-Lock', 'Media Server Only' (default), 'Never'.

As posted earlier, original equipment arrived defective. ABT replaced it very efficiently and hooking up now. I still have a lot of non-HDMI pieces.... So figured a good temporary solution was to keep the old Denon, pipe some channels into it, and then take its component output as input into the new 2313CI. Daisy chained.

Result is terrible. Lots of artifacts on the display.

Can you think of anything obvious that I'm doing wrong?
