I am afraid not. I played around with a few of these on the iPhone, but was never really happy with them, so I generally control the player via the OSD. If you ever do find a solution, please post back.
Tried it on iPad using the web browser interface of the AVR to play the whole playlist available on Serviio. It is playing the whole playlist without any issues
So I have my PS3 connected to my AVR-1713. When I try to watch a 3D blu-ray, it says this device does not support 3D, but it works fine when connecting PS3 directly to the tv. Any ideas? Thanks.
Try turning off "Deep Color" on the PS3. It eats up bandwidth, with no gain to the end user.
Also, try a different HDMI port on the Denon. If that doesn't work, try a different HDMI port on the TV. The EDID isn't passing through, for some reason. If you have an extra, try a different HDMI cable . Edited by farkem - 2/7/13 at 9:54am
I have had the same problem with my 1912. I have no solution to offer you for direct HDMI connection. I don't know why it happens...
However, prior to owning a Retina MBP with HDMI, I merely had a MB Air with a thunderbolt/mini display port. So I bought a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Female Adapter Cable from Amazon (IIRC mine was about $3) similar to this one:
This one is $7. Apple sells one for a bit more (maybe $30). All I can tell you is that both of my laptops connect correctly without a problem through my 1912 when I use this adaptor, and I get sketchy performance when I simply plug the HDMI directly into my Retina MBP. And I don't know why... Hope that helps.
Dude thank you for responding. Just to verify, you tried using the minidisplay port to HDMI (male) and it did not work on a MB Air? That is my current method.
This workaround looks like it will be cheap and easy. I was worried I would have to look at another receiver since this is an important function for my needs.
I owned a Lexicon DC-1 for about 10 years, due to financial reasons I had to sell the DC-1. I went through a slew of mid-level receivers since and was never really happy with the sound until I got my current 2113ci. My memory of the DC-1 is a bit dusty, but I would say that the 2113ci beats the sound quality in every aspect. This may have more to do with the discrete audio formats than the actual sound quality of the components but I'm a happy camper.
Kind of reinforces my thoughts exactly. I think the OP will be more than happy with the current Denon line whichever one he chooses.

No I never tried that minidisplay port to HDMI (male). I do not know whether or not that would work for me. I don't own that cable.
I used minidisplay port to HDMI (female) adaptor to with a regular HDMI male to male cable to connect my MB Air to my 1912 and it always worked.
When I got my MBP Retina I tried an HDMI male to male cable with my HDMI port on my MBP Retina and I could never get it to work. However minidisplay port to HDMI (female) to HDMI male to male also works on my MBP Retina. I can not explain why though...
can anyone give me a solution to these airplay related problems (or redirect me to the post that cover these if they exist already - i don't have the time to search this entire thread).
So i have my Denon 2313 connected to my airport extreme with an ethernet cable. In another ethernet port of the AE base station i plugged in a cable that is connected to my main router (modem).
1st. Is there any solution that i don't need to connect the apple airport to my wired internet connection? it is set up to "enhance" or "be wirelessly part of" my wifi network, as i use it also to connect a drobo to the network. Before i had my denon (and now still), i just had to connect my drobo to the AE to share the files - i didn't need a wired connection to the internet.
2nd. when i boot my AE and my receiver it takes a long while and a lot of rebooting itunes, the network or the AE to make my macbook or iphone find the denon in airplay...
Prof D with the quick response! I'd give you rep if I could..
I just ordered it as I am still optimistic since you used it successfully on your 1912. Do you know what model year your MB Air is considered off-hand?

My MBA is two generations back. Mine is the last MBA to have USB 2.0 ports.

So funny update... I forgot that on a whim I had ordered a new Thunderbolt - HDMI cable while at work the other day. The cable just arrived and lo and behold it worked straight away in the AUX HDMI on the 1913. Must be something in the standard that is new/updated? I verify the old cable is working with the MBA directly into my older Panasonic Viera but doesn't play nice with the 1913. Oh well, issue fixed. Thank you Prof D for your assistance. Here is the new cable in case anybody is looking for this info.
airjdogg56...thanks for the link. I was looking into these last night to test out xbmc/plex on my tv (i've been messing with them on my laptop for ages, but want to get a feel for them on the TV before building an HTPC). I was a bit offput by the high price for these cables (~35-40 bucks from apple), but psyched to find this cable with great reviews for a fair price.
Hopefully my dinosaur of an AVR (AVR-789/1909) will handle it

I don't think you should be connecting the Denon straight to the AE, its not a router or switch per say, its more of an access point. I think you need to connect your Denon to your main router (modem) if possible, or you need to setup a switch with a connection to your router/modem.
The airport extreme is not meant to be used as a router, and it sounds like thats how you're trying to use it. The AE is supposed to be connected to your router/modem via the WAN port, thats it. Then it has connection to the internet and serves up as a wireless network or access point. It has a second port, or LAN port on it to connect a network printer etc, but I don't think hooking up the Denon there would work. The Drobo might, but not sure the Denon is meant to be used on that port and function as you want it to. This might be where your issue is. Connecting the Denon to the modem/router or a switch that is connected to the modem/router might give better results.
If you can, hook the Denon up to your router/modem, if you have open ports. If not, you'll need to maybe do what I did, I have a cable from my modem that connects to an 8 port switch, that switch alone acts like a traffic manager for all the devices connected to it. So the internet is fed to it from that cable coming from the modem, switch has 7 ports now all with internet connectivity. That is where I hooked up my Denon, and also my airport extreme. So the AE has internet and serves up a wireless network, and then all my other devices can be plugged into that same switch (6 now after modem and AE are plugged in), so I plugged in my Denon, my Samsung TV, my AppleTV, my BluRay and my XBox. All have internet coming from that switch.
I've been searching this site for an answer to a question, and I appologize if it has been addressed.
There are many comments about what can and can't be sent over the HDMI Zone 2 audio (HDMI inputs can, analog audio inputs can't), but there is a group of sources that I haven't seen discussed. Can someone tell me if sources internal to the XX13ci units such as internet radio, HD radio, AM/FM, and USB will transmit through the HDMI Zone 2 output or not? Do some work and some not? I want to run wiring to a remote AVR/TV in the bedroom from the main listening room and would really like to get the USB music files into the bedroom as well as the CATV. If I could do both with a single cable, it would make my run so much easier. If not, I assume I'll have to run the line level analog audio alongside the HDMI cable to get all of the sources I want. This would probably require me to bump up to a 3 zone unit because I would like to run the Zone 2 analog to my kitchen.
AFAIK it's simply an HDMI matrix switch, so in other words it's an HDMI input/output only deal. You should note though that the only unit which has this (3313ci) already is a 3-zone receiver so that makes the decision easier.
In your case Zone 3 would be the other stereo zone because the HDMI matrix output is tied to Zone 2.

Zone 2 (HDMI) only passes HDMI 1-6 source inputs. To pass network sources, AM/FM and USB you would have to connect the Zone 2 and or Zone 3 pre-outs to the bedroom AVR.
Just installed a new Denon 3313CI...all working fine until I tried to do a firmware update. Unit froze for over 3 hours so I tried to restart a number of times...unit immediately went into retrying the update each time. I then did a network reset (up/down/power up). Went through initial setup again, but now I can't connect to the network. The network options are all dimmed out in the setup menu (other than showing current info such as DHCP on and 'friendly name'.
I called Denon and was told I should not have tried the update unless I was connected directly to the internet (plugged into cable modem, not while connected to the hardwired switch). We tried to do a firmware update by connecting directly to the cable modem, but the update option was dimmed out. They told me I needed to send the unit back to a service center to have the network card replaced.
I would appreciate any last ditch efforts to rescue the unit as I would prefer not to ship it off for service.
Thanks!
This is what the manual indicates as well although need only be considered if a "wireless" connection (eg. via bridge router) does not work.
I recently upgraded my home theater system to include a Denon AVR-3313CI and Panasonic VT50 plasma tv. I have a Bright house supplied Cisco Explorer cable box model 4640 HDC. I have everything running through the Denon receiver. I am currently experiencing intermittent cable box lock ups when powering up the tv, receiver, and cable box using my URC MX-850. I cannot seem to find the right combination of what should turn on first on the right amount of delay time to insert. When the cable box locks up I have to unplug it and plug it back in. Everything is then ok for a couple of days but the problem always returns. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank-You.
As is often discussed in this thread, cable boxes are problematic regardless of brand. You would be much better served bypassing the AVR with cable box (HDMI) directly to the TV and cable box (optical) to the AVR for surround sound.
Here's a general question to everyone, as I require an honest opinion:
Would you keep the 3808 that cost $1,640 total (which I can return at Costco & get all my money back), or keep the 3313 that cost $1,135 total (also from Costco, so it can be returned when a better unit comes out). ???
I'm surprised that Costco Canada still honors that rule as the USA stores stopped doing that a few years ago. If you have the $100 Dyn Eq/Vol upgrade installed in the 3808CI, then keep it (if not, install it), unless you specifically need a feature offered on the 3313CI (eg. Zone 2 (HDMI)).
when running a 5.1 setup and then having 2 more speakers set up as "front B' on a denon 2113 do I have the ability to adjust the volume of those front B speakers? or are they stuck at -40
Nope, They play at the same volume set for the Front A speakers. For independent volume control of these speakers you must set them as "Zone 2" speakers, but then you lose the capability to pass HDMI sources to them.
Hi - Hope I'm doing this right. I've spent hours researching this and still don't know the answer. I bought an open box 2113 at Best Buy and it came without the Audyssey microphone. Denon won't ship me one b/c it was an open box. I already own a 2112. According to Batpig the mic's are interchangeable. But, when I read the Audyssey forum or look on Denon's website they imply the mic is different for every model. Can I use the 2112 mic for the 2113? Thanks.

Yes, different model number but the same mic. You are good to go.
