Hi!

I just purchased a AVR1613 and I like it. I'm just trying to figure out how to use it! I have HDMI plugged into the ARC and an optical cable plugged in for the sound.

My question is: I have two speakers in my living room and two speakers in my bedroom. I want to be able to play the TV and just listen to the speakers in the bedroom, but, if I use airplay or something like Pandora, I want them in both rooms. How do I go about this?

Also, should I be connecting my BD, Cable, and TV into the Receiver? Or can I just keep them plugged into the TV?

Getting Multi EQ XT would be my absolute priority. Its the reason I upgraded from my Onkyo.

You'll need to upgrade to the 1713 or higher models to get Zone 2 capability to power the bedroom speakers. You'll want to use the AVR as the HDMI switch so connect your sources to it rather than the TV. In some cases the cable box will have problems with the AVR so you'll need to keep it connected to the TV with optical from the cable box to the AVR.

HDMI handshake issues with cable/sat boxes is quite common. The work around is to connect HDMI to the TV with optical from the box to the AVR.

The bedroom speakers are connected to the receiver in the stereo inputs, but nothing comes out. When I calibrate them, I hear the tests; however, no music or TV comes out.

Note that it's much easier to simply press the red "X" in the lower left corner of a post to delete it then doing the above.

So I did two things. I increased the subwoofer channel level on my amplifier by +5db and decreased the volume knob on my sub to around a quarter.

This helps. The sub now kicks in better at volume set to 50db and above.

However the same problem occurs for volumes less than 50db. Its almost like the sub takes a second or two to understand that the LFE channel has started pumping out bass notes.

I guess I will have to live with the fact that my listening levels should be more than 50db in general (it is a comfortable level thankfully)

I recently purchased a Denon 1513 AVR with a Monitor Audio Mass 10 system which comes with the Mass W200 Subwoofer. The setup seems to be working well.

I just have one problem - After a period of silence or bass-less music like pure guitar, high piano notes etc, my subwoofer takes a second or so to detect bass notes coming in. It misses the first one or two bass beats, and then works perfectly afterwards. Is this normal? Its like the sub goes to sleep and wakes up only after the first bass note or so.

I have tried various things - I have set the subwoofer switch to "Always On" instead of "Auto On" etc, tried to increase signal strength to the sub-woofer, tried to up the crossover frequency to 120Hz but I am facing the same problem.

Any comments or suggestions? Would be much appreciated!

You can't do any useful Audyssey calibration if you want to use the 1613 to place 2 speakers in one room and 2 speakers in another room. What you can do is to connect the one set to the FL/FR speaker posts and the 2nd set to the SL/SR speaker posts and use the the "Multi CH Stereo" surround mode.

Connecting the other zone speakers to the primary AVR you reduce the total headroom available to the other speakers in the main zone, while using a 2nd AVR, although connecting the speaker selector to the FL/FR speaker posts, these speakers have the full power of that 2nd AVR.

Sending them how? Try a subset of just flac files to test.

Note that modern AVRs use a logarthmic volume scale so average volume levels will be 60-75% of maximum.

Nope, the answer is choose the one you prefer as it's your setup.

Cables are fairly inexpensive from forum sponsor Monoprice ... roughly $2 for a 6' optical cable.

jdsmoothie: What is the difference between the 1713 and 1913? I know they both have dual zones, but, one is "Line out"?

Correct. 1713 is only 5.1 so would require a 2CH amp to power Zone 2 speakers while the 1913 is 7.1 and can power them with it's own amps.

I'm sending them over a wireless network to a wireless bridge (both Netgear). I just created a new folder in "my Music" called "FLAC Test" and put in one album and it does not even show up on the TV as a folder. Also, at one time I deduced that it would not "see" music files unless they were located in the Windows "My Music" folder, all of a sudden I am seeing music located in another partition. I can easily work around the 5,000 file limit, but not playing the FLAC files is coming very close to a deal breaker. I'm wondering if this has anything to do with the fact that Windows 7 does not support FLAC, but I've never had any trouble playing any of the FLAC files with Media Monkey and other software.

Thanks for all your help, hopefully someone has seen this issue before and has a solution.

I already downloaded another piece of software this morning that allows me to play the FLAC files in WIN 7. Will "your" software make any difference and why doesn't the folder even appear on the TV?

Sorry, but I have no personal experience with flac or CoreFlac, rather simply just trying to provide something for you to resolve your issue.

I'm just at a loss as what to do next. I guess, call Denon in the morning. It seems that the basic issue is that it's not even seeing the folder that the FLAC file resides in. The software that I downloaded this morning works seamlessly with Win 7, and I had this issue several days ago before I added this software ( Codec for Windows 7 Pak). I'll try & talk with Denon tomorrow (someone give me fortitude & patience!).

Do I put them both in FR/FL? Or??

Connect the LR speakers to the FL/FR speaker posts and the bedroom speakers to the SBL/SBR speaker posts ....

This is probably a stupid question but i was unable to find the answer. I got a audssey mic (ACM1HB) for a 3313. I unpackaged it and it looked like there was little black sticker on the top. It took a little bit to take it off. Was that a sticker i peeled off or was that supposed to stay on. When it came off it looked like there was just a hole in the middle with a very small censor in it. Anyway, i just want to make sure i didnt accidentally remove something i shouldnt have.

I'm new to this forum and recently replaced my Yamaha RX-V657 (quiet old - 7 to 8 years I believe) and cheap dvd-player with the classy AVR-2113 (not ci) and BDT-1713UD. With it I also replaced my plain TV with a 2nd hand 40" Loewe (hdmi 1.1 - 4 to 5 years old). I also had a popcorn-hour c200 attached to it.

I'm really happy with the setup - installation is very easy. Also very happy that I can control some things from my android-phone/tablet. From time to time my TV doesn't "get it". I guess the hdmi-handshake does something weird to my TV because of some incompatibilities (hdmi 1.1 vs hdmi 1.4 ??). I have to power-off the TV and all things go back to normal.

The batpig pages are helpful but I have some issues with the media player (popcorn-hour c200) or the combination with the AVR-2113. Playing all sorts of video files is working like it should. Even the audio shows no glitches or delays but... I have a lot of old media file (avi/wmv) which only have some stereo of even a mono audio. The combination popcorn-hour <-> rc-v657 works fine with these files but connected to the 2113 I got no sound at all. However the 2113 tells I got stereo.

The only difference that I see physically is that now the pch-c200 is connected with hdmi only where is was s-video/optical. On the pch-c200 I tried all sorts of audio settings. hdmi set to on with all audio pass-though and once all set to downmix. No result. Speakers are connected (5.1) to Front Left and Right, Center, Surround Left and Right and Sub.

Since I'm totally new to these new AV receivers I don't exactly know where to start troubleshooting.

Hope someone recognizes the problem I described here..
