Sub help. Setup!

Got my sub today. PA-150, I set the crossover on the sub to max. Crossover on receiver is 80. Also set the phase to max. Volume is less than half. Home theater sounds great. I ran Auto EQ setup,but I'm not getting ANY bass from the sub when playing a CD in stereo. Seems only bass works in SURROUND setting?

I have Pioneer VSX-40

-Have Digital Coaxial & HDMI from Blu Ray (CD) player to receiver.

Make sure the speakers are set to small in the AVR.

Yep.

There's probably an LFE setting, which you might have assumed is where all the sub content comes from. That's just for the .1 in 5.1; think of it as the special subwoofer output channel for movies. But we also all run our speakers at small so that the low frequencies from each of the other 5.0 channels go to the sub as well, both in movies and music. That's what setting the 80hz crossover was for, but you have allow each speaker to be crossover after that.

Alright, Ill check to make sure its set to small. Im only running 3.1 for HT and just 2.1 for music. Would that make a difference

I don't have a Pioneer receiver, so this is just troubleshooting guess. My Denon allows me to configure crossover and other info for stereo mode separately from when 5.1 is used. So it is possible you might have to make sure you have the small setting and the crossover set the you want in multiple output modes. Probably the manual can tell you. I'm sure Pioneer still has it on their website if you don't have a copy.

I had the same issue,with my pioneer. I found out that if i enable "sound retriever" it will boost the bass and highs up. Remember,some music doesn't have much bass to them unless your listening to rap or dubstep and techno. Hope that helps.
