I received this unit from Sony Customer support as a replacement for my replacement. Long story short, I had a KDS-60A2020 that succumbed to a bad optical block. As a replacement, Sony sent me a 55BX520 at a discount. Unfortunately that unit had screen uniformity issues. So after a little arguing, (because they tried to tell me that there was nothing wrong with it) they sent me a 55EX640 as a replacement.
1st impressions - Beautiful picture. The remote sucks. Particularly the home button being too close to the down arrow. Which leads to pressing HOME and kicking you out of what you're doing instead of scrolling down. Internet apps work well but as stated before it could use a better way to navigate them.
Horrible, I mean horrible screen uniformity issues. Worse than the BX520 that it replaced. Its not limited to the corners either. It looks like there are two cotton balls in the top center of the picture.
As a result I have called Sony Customer Service who is sending out a tech to check it out. A waste of everybody's time as we all know, but I'll play along and see what comes out of it.
I'm still struggling to find the right settings for it. I tried these but not crazy abut them... http://www.televisioninfo.com/content/Sony-Bravia-KDL-40EX640-LED-LCD-HDTV-
Hard to find info on this set, anybody have anything else?
