Actually, the web suggests that 5GHZ is available on some Samsung models as long as "samsung wireless link" or SWL is disabled in the wireless settings in the menu. I don't see that in my menu though. Is that how some of you claim to be using 5GHz?
Mine shows both networks that my dual band router broadcast in and it will work on either one of the two that I can randomly pick, 5 ghz or 2.6

So, I went ahead and did it.... Got it tonight and set it up. The default settings are horrible!! It's way too bright and exagerrated. I'm going to try some of the suggested settings and then we'll see.

new owner here , expecting delivery this weekend !

I'm thinking of pulling the trigger on a brand new un55es7500 but there's no manufacturer warranty. It would be delivered so should I opt for optional warranty? It's $180 for 2 years. Just curious as to how this TV holds up in general. I've had my Samsung 32" for about 6 years and never had an issue.

where are buying from? I dont understand, if is BRAND NEW it should have the standard warranty....if you get a LEMON tv you will be screwed to no end....

I personally would not buy it if that is the case.... my tv hdmi port died only after 2 weeks....I was able to get a nother on from amazon next day delivered to my dooor.....

I was wondering has anyone went from a plasma to this tv and how much better or worse would this tv look? I have a pne7000 plasma now but it has a buzz to it and might return it for this this tv.

Did you have to disable Samsung Wireless Link (SWL) in the menu settings, or did your TV detect the 5GHz networks out of the box with no special configuration? This is very confusing that some people are able to see 5GHz networks with the 7500 and others aren't.
Is there a headphone jack somewhere on the 7500? I don't see one on the TV nor any reference to one in my user manual. However I really loved the headphone jack on my older Samsung LN32B460DUZR because with a headphone plugged into the jack, it would automatically disable the internal TV speakers AND I could still adjust the volume from the remote control! When I plug headphones into the Audio Out jack on the 7500, the internal speakers are still on unless I limit output to "External Speakers" in the menu, but then I can't control the volume.
I didn't do anything with the Samsung Wireless Link (SWL), on the TV. Maybe the problem is in the setup of the router, first and foremost you have to have both 2.6 and 5 (SSD) enabled and broadcasting. I have a NETGEAR R6300, in the initial setup of the router there was a setting which needed to be checked or unchecked to keep the two networks from interfering with each other. I get a chance, I'll see if I can figure out again what that was called and post it on here.

If you bought your TV from Best Buy, its a free feature with a Silver zone rewards member.

Thanks for your input regarding the pro calibration. Did the tech indicate if you did a a factory reset it would affect the changes he made to the SERVICE menu? I know I can make adjustments to the setting outside the SERVICE menu and then change them back to factory setting, but I don't know if the TECH's setting made in the service menu will also be changed. I guess I should also ask, if the SERVICE menu setting won't be affected, is there a FACTORY RESET inside the service menu?

I'll also be getting a Geek Squad calibration this week for my Samsung Plasma PN51D8000 and wonder if GS sets up two picture modes to use, one for the daylight conditions and one for nighttimetime conditions? I guess my plasma setting won't help much on this thread. I'll have to wait until my UN46ES7500 has enough time on it to then get a calibration, or use your settings.

Thanks again for your postings,
Wes:)

Yeah I'm broadcasting on both frequencies on my WNDR3700. Blue LED illuminated for 5 GHZ, and Green for 2.4 GHz. They have unique SSIDs too.

no offense anyone, but 1st of all is not 2.6, it's 2.4Ghz... I thought you made a typo, but you keep writing 2.6... so that right there questions the validity of your claim that the ES7500 is dual band.... like I said before, the ES7500 DOES NOT even have a dual wifi reciever....so its IMPOSSIBLE to recieve 5GHz wifi signals.... It only works on the 2.4 GHz Band Sprectrum...

I know your router is 5GHz, BUT theres no way in hell the ES7500 is connected to your router at 5GHz, only 2.4GHz......

No disrespsect intended, but how do you know for certain? Can you link me to Samsung's technical specifications that talks about the 802.11 antenna? All the spec pages I could find were very vague with few details (other than speeds supported like 802.11b,g,n).
Not to be disrespectful, but if I take the ROUTER an turn OFF the 2.4ghz broadcast channel and the only channel that is ON an BROADCASTING is the 5ghz. Then if I can watch a movie in the Smart Hub via vudu or netflex it must be able and have the 5 ghz antennae. Now maybe you can provide the documentation that says it doesn't because mine works on either channel.

Hey,

Have any of you heard of Samsung incorrectly labeling the 'HDMI Black Level' setting of "Normal" and "Low" in reverse within the TV's Menu System?

I have read a short list of posts that mention it, and Samsung has not corrected the issue thus far, even after their QA Department insisted it be corrected.

From what I have read and understand is that with correct labeling, "Normal" is supposed to be RGB Full 0-255 and "Low" RGB Limited 16-235.
If it were incorrectly reversed, then "Normal" is actually RGB Limited 16-235 and "Low" is actually RGB Full 0-255.

The main reason I went to do research on how the HDMI Black Level setting works is because, I have a PC that is equipped with an Nvidia GTX 580 supposedly outputting RGB Full 0-255 via DVI > HDMI Redmere > HDMI1/DVI - named "DVI Devices" mode <~ Allows HDMI Black Levels to become adjustable and accepts sound input at the Audio-In (DVI) input. So, I have been stuck on which of the HDMI Black Level settings I should use for viewing my PC desktop.

HDMI Black Level >PC Desktop:
"Normal" - The entire screen gets washed out/greyed out. The black colors no longer have depth to them; it's just washed out to grey. I do not see any greater details in darker areas.
"Low" - The entire screen looks more vibrant, alive, has depth. The blacks are darker, I can see shades of grey detailed in the darker areas. I don't seem to notice "Black Crushing" going on, since I still can see details in darker areas.

Basically, to me, "Normal" just looks unacceptable whether it be viewing the desktop or watching a movie set to output either 0-255 and 16-235 color space. There is a slight grey layer of color throughout the screen. Hence "Washed Out" look.

What are your guys experiences with this setting?? Especially when you use your HTPC/PC?

P.s. I have calibrated the source using AVS HD 709 on DVD

-samsung mislabeled? - thread-

Should be set to normal unless your pc is detecting a tv and not sending full rgb

Anyone think this model will get the 2013 Smart Hub? I saw some of the new 2013 models still have a dual core processor. So that must mean the dual core processor will be able to run the 2013 Smart Hub just maybe not run the S Recommendation without that new remote. Maybe Samsung will optimize the 2013 Smart Hub to run faster on the dual core? Thanks.

Hi all,

I just purchased a un60es7500 and Im having fairly significant crosstalk issues in 3d viewing. Other then that, the tv is fine. Some minor clouding and corner flash lighting, but thats it. Ive tried to make adjustments to the 3d perspective, and I am able to eliminate the crosstalk in the background, but then it appears worse in the foreground, and vis versa. It appears on multiple 3d content I have tried.

I'm wondering if anyone else has had these issues?, as I've heard this tv is known for minimal if any crosstalk/ghosting issues. The tv is only a week old, so I can return it to Amazon, and have it replaced with another 7500, or for $100 more I can get the 8000, which Im considering, but I prefer the black bezel over the chrome. If the picture quality and/or 3d is better on the 8000, I would more then likely upgrade. Unfortunately, I don't have the luxury of comparing the tvs in person, since I live in rural area. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated, thanks!!

Just got the 55 inch 7500 for $1500. Originally considered the es8000 but figured with the overall lower reviews and pretty similar specs, i'd just save the $100 and i'm glad I did. TV is incredible, especially considering how good of a picture my 42" Plasma had. This looks great. Still getting the settings perfected, but overall very happy.
What does it do exactly?
Leave it on or off?

I picked up the 60" version from microcenter for $1500, it was the last TV in stock. the TV looks amazing. the only thing I'm having issues with is the Amazon app. it wont open. I may need to re-install it again or something.

I used cnet settings as base settings first and fine tuned using AVSHD and Disney: WOW

Or try this from 8000 thread.

This is my first posting on this forum, although I've been lurking for about 3 weeks. So, here goes.

I'm getting ready to buy a UN60es7500 within the next 2 weeks and had a few questions based on the information that has been posted in this forum:

1. Is clouding/flashlighting a serious problem? I see quite a few frustrated users.
My son-in-law went thru 3 Samsung units (don't remember the model #'s) about 2 years ago and finally gave up and got an LG. He's been really hot about me buying any but a Samsung. Yet Samsung has a combination of the features that I'm really looking for.

2. How slow is the access to various extra features like Netflix and external hard drives (DLNA)? Seconds, many seconds, Minutes??

3. This unit is a little bigger than the recess in my wall unit which currently houses a 55 inch Toshiba rear projector (1998). It's my intention to surface mount the Samsung on the outside of the swing out front panel, which needs to have the opening filled in and reinforced and wheel put on the bottom so it can swing smoothly. I'd like to install the shallowest surface mount bracket that I can find, and cut an access hole in the panel so that I can get at the connections from behind the panel. Failing that, I would use a telescoping mount that can extend far enough to allow access to the rear of the unit. I've been concerned about the weight, but I realized that the 60" Samsung is lighter that the 37" Aquos that I have on an articulating mount on my bedroom wall. Still, it's twice the physical size.

Any ideas or opinions about which mounts are best?

There is no VGA-In port on these TV's but there is HDMI/DVI-In that you use to connect your PC's DVI/HDMI-Out port from.
Set the HDMI/DVI-In (on TV) to either modes by changing its 'Name' to PC, DVI PC or DVI Devices.
I personally prefer to use 'DVI Devices' mode; that way it allows me to plug-in a 3.5mm jack coming from PC's sound card and turns on the Audio/DVI input jack on the TV; plus it doesn't gray out most of the Advanced Picture Settings within the TV's Settings Menu.

HDMI/DVI Source (Edit Name):

'PC' mode = Audio/DVI Input (Inactive), Passes HDMI audio signal (if your graphics card supports the feature), advanced picture settings are grayed out (Inactive)
'DVI' mode = Audio/DVI Input (Active), Does not pass HDMI audio signal, most advanced picture settings are grayed out (Inactive)
'DVI Devices' mode = Audio/DVI Input (Active), Does not pass HDMI audio signal, advanced picture settings are not grayed out (Active)

I learned the hard way when I first setup the TV and realized I was not getting sound passed from my PC to the TV speakers. So I tinkered away and Google'd! smile.gif
