Hypothetical A-Lens Question

I had a question regarding throw and lens size....this is a bit theoretical and NOT a practical issue I'm dealing with. I don't have an A-lens yet but I'm planing to for my upcoming build.

I know I need to fit the beam inside the lens. Assuming a long throw ratio of say 2.2+....My question is can we get the beam too small? In other words if we are using only the middle on the lens will it modify the horizontal stretch enough to make a difference?

I've never heard of it being a problem, and there is a member here with a JVC and ISCO II lens who is using a throw of around 2.8 IIRC, and he'd never mentioned any issues.

With 2.2, you certainly would not have to worry about that, beside I don't think it would ever be an issue. With 2.2, you would be able to use a flat screen with little geometry issues.

Generally speaking, and assuming your lens has uniform expansion, the smaller the beam, the better.
