I got my TV yesterday. Mounted it on the wall late last night. Picture quality is pretty good, out of the box. I'll still like to find some good calibration settings.

It replaced a Sony 46" LCD TV. The difference is huge.

I purchased a 3D BluRay DVD last night from BB. I'll try it out over the weekend.

I just purchased this set from Amazon and am returning my 7600 in hopes of less flashlighting. we shall see.

though I didnt get the good deal others had, I dont know if its too late since I just got a shipping notice

I got the 55" coming guessing friday which is good cause wall mount is coming wednesday which gives me time to install that...Just hope everything is good, I was gonna order it from tiger but they hit me with tax so ordered my from buydig for 1824 shipped

The thing that sucks is can't find any reviews besides from owners on the TV

So, does anyone know if the calibration settings are gonna be the same as the 7600

i assume so. The 7600 and 8600 use the same panels, correct?

Can someone plug their coaxial local cable TV provider directly to TV, scan for channels and tell me if their getting all their local major TV stations/channels?

Got the 55LM8600 already ran into an issue with Cable DTV Auto Tuning only finds 44 channels the 55LM7600 finds 50 channels. I only care that I'm not getting channels 5, 7 & 11. Los Angeles / Charter Communications Cable. The built-in TV tuner is not decoding clearQAM unencrypted channels correctly.

I'm thinking it's either firmware not decoding/tuning channels correctly, defective tuner or tuner is different from LM7600?

Update: To be more technical my 55LM8600 can't tune/decode or pickup a few unencrypted QAM256 signals.

I manually hit the remote icon top right corner of screen, manually tune to a QAM channel like ABC channel 7.1 I would input 91-431 I get no signal. I move that same coaxial cable to my previous 55LM7600 and it works fine.

I have a 55LX6500 that I purchased at the beginning of 2011. I've been having a weird issue where the TV acts like someone is pressing various buttons. LG send out a company that swapped out the board, but the problem persisted and I was told I need a new bezel. Since then the part has been backordered, and I got a call from LG yesterday offering the 55LM8600 as a replacement.

A big part of my decision to go with the LG originally is that it had a matte screen. My living room has two big windows, and in the afternoon a TV with a glass screen becomes a mirror. Some quick googling tells me this has the same type screen, but I can't seem to confirm it anywhere.

For those that have the TV: does it have a glass panel, or a matte?

Looks like LM8600 has issue with clouding and flashlighting too. I just got mine yesterday and here is what I see. I am thinking about returning it back to Amazon. Do you all have the same problem?

thats similar to what Ive seen with my two 7600s.

I have no idea what LG was thinking. Is there no Quality Control? Or do they just think people wont care/notice? This seems to be the rule rather than the exception. My 8600 is coming later this week and Im preparing myself for the worst.


btw what are your settings for BL, Contrast, Brightness , Local dimming and dynamic contrast?

there are separate settings for all scenarios so make sure youre on the Vudu screen again when you check your settings. (just so we get an apples to apples comparison)

+1 on the light blooming in the bottom corners (only when there's no signal). No flashing or clouding on my TV, but I'll check again tonight.

I used the picture wizard to calibrate the TV. The 3D is awesome after the calibration. The 2D to 3D is also good. 2D is not so good. I'll try more calibration settings.

so I canceled my order for the 8600 to get the 65LM6200 for $2340. Then later regret it cause I didn't want debt. Luckily BUYDIG still has it at $1849 and amazon was able to price match it. I really want a 65 but I think it was too much.

Almost every input you can enable local dimming so I would try that first. For Medialink, Vuduu you might have to start playing something then go into settings and set local dimming to low or med whatever you prefer. Sometimes you need to set to Cinema in order to see more calibration settings.

If I have local dimming on low it's hardly noticeable compared to my 7600. Some inputs if there's no signal I believe local dimming is not enabled so you see clouding, blooming etc but if there's some sort of signal & local dimming is on low at least it's hardly noticeable.

Im wondering what difference the dual core makes in streaming music or the netflix/youtube apps?

I have both right now I have 2 days left to return my 7600. I want to keep the 8600 because the dual core I can navigate around the apps, change channels a little bit quicker. I have Plex Media Server running on a Netgear Readynas Ultra 2 Plus so navigating through those menus etc it's a bit snappier.

I'll try the Netflix/YouTube app tonight, if I forget to respond to you hit me up.

I live chat with LG yesterday, they sent a technician this morning. He took pictures of the issue. He said LG will let us know about the fate in 2-3 days. Most likely it is going to be returning the TV to dealer. I am glad I got the TV from Amazon for $1849 (price match tiger direct), the return shipping is free and no restocking fee if LG wants me to return it back to dealer.

With a swiveling/articulating wallmount, would you recommend leaving the swank looking base stand on the TV to serve as a handle of sorts? The thought of moving this thin screen around on my mount gives me the chills as I worry that it could bend/break/damage the screen.

At least I had enhanced delivery from Amazon in which the guys set up the tv and plug it in to make sure it is working. Soon as we plugged in it we saw the screen was cracked. So they took it back.

Now Amazon has to reorder. They told me the 8600 is a special order the new expected shipping date is June 11 to June 26. Also they have charged me and can't issue credit unless I cancel the order and start all over again. This would be OK but the price has gone up since I purchased a few weeks ago. I got the $1850. price from Amazon.

Hoping this is the last TV I setup in the near future. Sold my LG 47LW6500 for much more than I paid for it which covered a 47LM7600, which was returned for a 55LM7600, which was never opened as I jumped on the TD deal for the 55LM8600.

The black border on the LM7600 looked better than the aluminum border of the LM8600. I haven't had a chance to jump into settings, but picture was impressive on Blu-rays. I watched a good chunk of Army of Darkness last night on cable and it looked great. I did notice that the "dual core" does speed up menus and apps, but I don't know by how much.

Which company is "TD Deal"?
