Got the new firmware update a couple days ago, but I don't see any change on anything. I don't frequent here often, but I am amazed to hear so many people have logo light issues. I have never had a problem with that. I turned it off the first day I got it last summer and it has never come back on.
The logo light problem was in a bad firmware update, mine worked fine when I first got the TV. When they changed my board and only did the recommended updates it's been fine. sometimes having the latest and greatest doesn't work. Mines been fine since the board swap. The power light option is still off and there is not an option to change it as there used to be. TV seems brighter since the last update.

They 2013 models are in todays ads in the news paper. Magic remote w/ voice recognition I wonder what else they changed. They have a LG 55LA7400 w/ free 3D Bluray DVD and LG sound bar for $2099.99.

Long time lurker here: I updated my firmware last night, and now I'm stuck at the LG logo screen. Any suggestions? I've tried plugging out the tv and still nothing.

Kinda disappointed as my 47lm8600 is just over 30 days old.

People have been speculating that because of the UPP, the only way left to deeply discount a TV is to bundle it with other "free" items.

I hope it fixes the problem for everyone ,There's a petition online somewhere to launch a class action lawsuit against LG for the logo light issue and the disappearing standby/power light issue ,that's how aggravated people are about LG firmware (garbage) ,I can't remember where I saw the petition I should have saved the link,If LG doesn't fix the problem soon I'm going to find the petition and sign it.

Hello All, I am a new owner of a 47 8600. I recently purchased from Amazon and delivered on Monday. I have yet to fire it up seeing that I am moving this weekend. Should I avoid the firmware update to avoid the logo light issues. Thanks in advance for the advice

I would do the update, the one with the logo light was about 6 months ago and since I had the board changed I've had no problems. So the new update will bypass the older ones.

Ver 04.31.43 corrupted both of my tv's...... that was the update from feb-13 so my problem occurred recently ,since then both of my logo lights malfunction and the power/standby light menu has disappeared , before that update I had no problems.

Good freaking grief. This can't be simply bad software engineering. They must be up against multiple board incompatabilites or something for this to haphazardly affect people so differently.

LG confirmed yesterday that they will release the Spotify app for certain 2013 range products:

Guys,

do any of you get an error when trying to access "my Apps"? I just received an error saying that because of memory full or memory Error, it failed to initiate the apps. If I restart the TV, the error is gone and Apps start appearing as they should.
I had that. Wife rang me at working fretting she broke the tele. hahaha. got her running scared it seems.

I told her to follow the onscreen prompts and it seemed to have fixed it.

Why it happened? No idea, had nothing added/upgraded to it. So its a bit weird, unless it has some sort of cache that filled....

Hey Guys,

I finally got the opportunity to setup my 8600. The picture is absolutely amazing. I do have a slight bleed in the top right corner but other than that the display is great. I checked the firmware that it is running currently 4.2.84. I will upgrade the firmware tonite, I am crossing fingers I have no issue afterwards. Also, does anyone know if you can use the magic remote qwerty on the 8600?

Thanks
Hi don't know about the magic remote qwerty but I bought a Logitech K400 usb keyboard for it and it works great. The touchpad and keyboard both work, it is easier than the magic remote while surfing the web.

I have firmware 04.34.02 and have no problems!
Thanks! CLEMS. I also updated to 4.34.02 and no issues.

Just picked up this Model Today @ Micro Center for $999.00 & Tax.
From reading this thread I think I got a pretty good deal.
The new Models are flushing out the 2012-2013 @ bottom dollar pricing
Doing set up now. Very satisfied with functions I have checked including Browser which had about
the same lag as my HP Touchpad, so it is tolerable.
Any help with the Expert 1 or 2 Settings that seem to work best would be appreciated.
First thing it did after connecting to my network was prompt me for Firmware update which I completed a few minutes ago.

I've just ordered the 55LM8600 online from Vanns for $1289 (brand new in factory sealed box). Then on my way home from work, I stopped into Sam's and was surprised to find they are selling the 55LM9600 there for $1448. That is an incredible price!

Now I'm wondering if I should cancel my online order and buy the 55LM9600 from Sam's. The advantage of buying from Sam's is I have 90 days to return if I don't like it. They have at least 10 of them on the floor. This was in the Lone Tree store in Colorado.

Does anyone here recommend I should upgrade to the LM9600 for the extra $150 to get the Nano LED TV and the 480hz??? I think those are the 2 major differences between the 8600 and 9600.

Thank you for the link to the article! It appears the article slightly prefers the 8600 over the 9600 they had reviewed.

I think I will keep my order of the 8600 unless there are issues with it. I can always upgrade to the 9600 if I don't like the 8600.

I will post my review of the 8600 when I receive it later this week. Thanks again.

Have you done extensive research? Consider: Please read through this thread for complaints. And if you're looking online for reviews from places like Amazon, ALWAYS sort by date and not by "most helpful". And don't forget that reviewers stand the chance of getting the "lucky" set hand-picked from the manufacturer. There are issues with Flash Lighting, Clouding, (Two HUGE complaints), Mirror like screen glare, and does the 8600 have Amazon prime? The 7600 and below don't unless you get crazy with back-door service menus.

And the 9600 has been a fairly big disappointment this year. On paper it's spectacular.

Also, Amazon has it available for $1399.99 (Fulfilled by Amazon <---- Important, prime), but if you like the in-store experience, then go ahead.

Thanks TGM! I appreciate your comments but I'm also a little confused with your comments.

Are you suggesting I should avoid the LM8600 altogether because of the issues I do see online for both models? Or are you suggesting that the LM8600 is the preferred between the two models?

I do see issues being discussed online on both models but I saw the LM7600 at Best Buy and it does have an awesome picture and the the 3D was amazing so I thought I would take a chance with the "higher" grade model LM8600 to take advantage of the Dual Core to get a faster system and internet experience. Then I saw Sam's with the LM9600 for $1448 so I was just wondering if it was even better to go all out to get the LM9600 with the "Nano LED" and the "480 Hz".

It's too late for me to cancel my online order so I hope I will be the "lucky" ones to get a good unit or if it's a bad unit, that it would show up within the 1st 30 days. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Thanks again for your comments.

Might not be ideal for some, but....Plex is integrated into the LG sets. I noticed yesterday, there is a Plex channel for Amazon Prime. I do not use Amazon Prime, so I don't know how it works/if it works well this way.

I just wanted to throw that out and see if someone knows more about this.

Also: Considering Plex is free and in Beta, I like it very much, however, it is as quirky and as inconsistent as the LM8600.

All I'm saying is don't go running to anything as a wonderful TV without weighing everything. And yes, I wouldn't go near the 9600. Of the two, I would take the 8600 over the 7600, even though on paper it's only a dual core difference, which almost certainly is only related to the "smart" features. BTW, don't freak out over any TV not having good streaming. Always go with a streaming "box" separately (Roku or whatever).......it's a dedicated thing and in Roku's case, it's ALL they do. The 2012 implementations for everything from browsers to streaming have always been a little on the kludgey side.

Keep in mind something else too: forums do tend to collect complaints because folks by and large aren't compelled to run online and announce "hey, it's ok for us".

Hi everyone. Just bought the 47'' LM8600 and I love it, but I'm not sure what the best way to hook up my components is. My gear is the following:

TV - 47LM8600
Reciever - Onkyo TX-NR414 (w/ 2.0 speakers)
Xbox 360
Wii (w/ HDMI converter)
Standard Definition Cable Box

Should I hook these all up through the receiver, and feed them to the TV, or should I do the opposite and use the ARC channel to send audio from the TV to the receiver? Is one method better than the other, or is there really any difference? Everything is hooked up through HDMI cables, except the cable box.

Thanks!

slow moving process...... from what I understand this should be available in
a couple weeks.

Two weeks and five days later and no change for me.

Using the boxes the 3D glasses came in to block the light.

There is a difference.
If you run everything to your receiver first, then to the TV, you will likely run your various signals in to one input. Then you would have one set of settings on the TV for whatever you ran. The cableTV, gaming consoles....and eventually a Bluray (ALL SIGNALS COMING IN TO ONE INPUT) This is not good.

You will definitely want different settings for those signals. Running them to the TV and then back to your receiver allows you to have a different set of settings for each input.
If you do nothing else, please at least run your gaming consoles directly to the TV in order to eliminate some of the input lag.

**NOTE
Time for you to get High Def cable too...

This situation is pathetic ,LG is so aware of the problem and their answer to it is to lie to a consumer about a escalated firmware patch ,as I stated previously I know there is a petition on the internet that someone started to launch a class action lawsuit over this exact matter, which indicates to me a lot of people have been affected by the garbage firmware that has caused this problem. If they dont correct the problem soon I'll be a panasonic consumer and they'll never get another cent from me I may just find the petition and sign it....Leaving any consumers product in a state of brokenness is totally inexcusable.SHAME ON LG.
