Im in a weird situation.
I absolutely love this tv. I love the streaming from my pc, I love the colors, I love the 3D - the passive 3D is a joy, I just love everything about the TV. I do see some light banding, some light leakage from the side (nothing too noticeable) but I can live with all that, it doesn't bother me.
I am looking at just getting a different TV now, and that bothers me greatly given how much I love the tv. Here is what has happened.
I bought the 55LM860V (the 8600 with voice control on magic wand) - I get it home and begin watching a DVD. within an hour, the TV rebooted itself. I switch over to watching TV after the movie. Same problem (a reboot)- TV goes to Life is good screen, then goes back to TV all on its own, a reboot.
This happens over several days - regardless of input. I call LG, they say the TV is DOA and to get a new one. SO I go back to the store, get a new one. This TV does the same thing - so that is 2 TV's now. I move to a new apartment in a different section of the city, TV does the same thing (so it's not a problem with the power) and the new apartment uses a different cable company and different decoder, so it's not that - and like I said, it is source independent (brand new LG Blu-ray player with brand new HDMI expensive cable). I call LG again, and they think it's the main board. So they sent out a tech and they replaced the main board.
When they put in the main board, I lost all of my ability to buy or download premium apps, as well as the 3D world thing where you can watch little 2 minute 3D clips.
Now, all this is also on top of reboots when I watch media server stuff. When I watch media server stuff, ONE time PER thing I watch, it will reboot - only once, and once per thing I watch - that was a minor thing though, and i can deal with that.
So I call LG again - they don't know why i've lost all of my ability to get apps - I suggest to them that my country (Norway) is no longer listed as a selectable country, and as premium content is country dependent, perhaps I received a main board that in not compatible with my country, so it can't download
apps - they think this may be, but the higher-level tech will call me today to discuss. I then mention the media server issue, and the guy on the phone said someone had called them about that today, so that issue is being reported.
I get off the phone with LG, and 30 minutes later, while watching TV, the TV resets. So this new main board didn't fix the problem.
I paid a small fortune for this TV - I shouldn't have to deal with reboots all the time. The media server thing aside (as that can be blamed on the app) a TV just shouldn't do this. Its not my sources, it's not my power, its the TV, and for what I paid, I just shouldn't have to deal
with that. So now Im in the position where my 30 days is almost up, and I have to pull the trigger on either constantly dealing with LG until the TV is fixed or getting a different brand/tv that I may not like as much.. *sigh* just dont know what to do at this point.
2 tv's and a main board later and im kinda fed up..
