how did you do it. Did you pay extra? I paid $1823 for my TV and now it's $1999 with the bundle did you have to pay the extra cash?

I gave it a try and couldn't get the promotion. They didn't even give me a reason. I paid $1823 though. Thats almost $200 less then what the promotion is going on now.

The home theater itself have got some really bad reviews but free is still free. When you do call large ticket dept dont get into pricing of the tv like what u paid and what's d price today. Again $1999 is not bundle price it is price of the tv today for somebody does not know about the home theater n glasses promotion. Just make request instead of returning and re buying with home theater deal its less hassle for everybody including them. Its all about reaching a good CSR mine did took some time called me back and she was kind enough to provide the home theater n glasses.

I didn't talk to them about pricing. I did do a chat session and requested the home theater and it got denied. Then I tried through email and their agent said it was a strictly for those dates however he said he will do as a one time exception and told me to just order the home theater system and glasses and he will refund me the amount or waive the total amount of the order. It seems like I got the deal. I didn't get the glasses because they are out of stock. Not a big deal to me. I have 16 pairs and I've only used 2. Now I hope they keep their word and do give me the refund

Well I received my 555LM8600 today and am somewhat disappointed. I purchased an HDMI splitter so I could connect the 8600 to my Directv system along with my current Samsung HDTV (it is about two years old). I wanted a side by side comparison which is hard to do in the store. So I had both TVs side by side with the same picture at the same time so this was a direct comparison. So the results are the Samsung is much brighter and sharper. You can see this in anything white and in the letters on the screen. Just looking at the screen guide on the Samsung the letters are bright while. On the LG they are a dull white. Keep in mind my Samsung is two years old so I had hoped a new LG would at least be equal.

I can't compare 3D but the 3D picture on the 8600 looks very good.

This is actually what I had seen in other posts, that the 3D was very good on the LGs but the PQ was not as good as the Samsungs which seems to be the case. So I will be returning this one to Amazon and will probably replace it with the Samsung ES7100.

I just received my 47LM8600 yesterday but noticed a few issues.

There's some light leaking from the top and right side of the bezel around the screen. I'm not sure if this is normal or not. I'm only seeing it when in a completely dark room and a few feet from the screen. The light coming through is evenly spaced around the top and right border where the bezel and screen meet.

It looks something like this but more spaced out:

___ ___ ___ ___ ___

Also, the "no signal" screen with the rotating LG cube is not black but more grey. My set has an April 2012 build date and a newer firmware than 03.01.34. Maybe LG changed the brightness level so that the flashlights/light leaks aren't noticeable on the "no signal" screen?

I'm also noticing a halo effect when gaming with local dimming on. I was testing this out while playing God of War III on PS3. When my character is in a completely dark area, I can see a vertical halo effect around him and the status bars. This effect goes from the top to the bottom of the screen. This glowing effect will follow my character around the screen. I did not have this issue with the LM7600.

I feel like the image quality is better than the LM7600 that I am returning but now I'm not sure if I should exchange the LM8600 for another or request a refund.

You might want to use game mode when gaming. It does not allow you to use Local Dimming but it is supposed to provide a faster response time.

I did a few tests using rock band as calibration and when I used anything but game mode, the lag was about 100 ms more. The other option is to change the input to PC. You can then activate local dimming if using modes other than game. Most all tests came in at the same. The reason why I don't like PC mode is that it only allows you to specify 16:9. I like to use "just scan?" can't remember if that is the name or not. Using game mode without PC label lets me use other settings then 16:9.

Thanks for those who mentioned the special promotion for the free home theater system. I had ordered the TV back when it was $1,849 on Amazon and have yet to receive the TV so thought I would give it a shot for the free promotion.

Here was my experience:
Took me awhile to even find a number to call on Amazon, but ended up getting one. First talked to some women who kept putting me on hold. My main play was that I hadn't even received the TV yet and I should be able to qualify for the ongoing promotion since I don't even have possession of the TV yet. She pretty much told me no since the two items had to be purchased at the same time due to promotion rules. I told her that was unacceptable since I didn't even have the TV yet.

Was on hold again and a guy then took over the call. I told him the same thing all over again and he finally came back saying I could either return the first TV and then reorder which we both agreed was stupid since they would be out shipping charges on their end (I never once told them what I initially paid for the TV, though it would be right on their screen). His second option was for me to order the Home Theater System separately and he could try to refund that purchase or try to refund the $325.51 amount from the initial TV purchase. So I made the separate purchase with him still on the phone and he was able to refund the Home Theater purchase because the item amount came up $0, but even with free super saver shipping it charged $23.87 and he couldn't get rid of it since free shipping in their system is $0 and that would be nothing to refund on their end I guess. They're supposed to refund the $23.87 amount now from the initial TV purchase, but at this time it still hasn't.

In the end it took me 25 minutes to get it done with countless time spent on hold. If I end up having to pay that $23.87 then that's fine with me. He then went on to give me the line that this wouldn't be done again, this was a special circumstance, no other customers could get in on this blah blah. The guy then made it known that he was upset that I didn't even have the TV yet and that was unacceptable to their standards and made sure that I call the carrier again to make sure that I have a delivery date and time scheduled for the TV within the next 48 hours from them.

A little time, a little patience, and I got the free Home Theater system. I'm happy and hopefully I will be with the TV too. It's scheduled for delivery tomorrow (the carrier called this morning but I withheld that information saying they had only called earlier in the week to confirm phone and address and I hadn't heard back). I would say for others it doesn't hurt to try and get the promotion. Free is free after all.

Nice. Mine was a little different I had to purchase the surround system under a new order. I do see the charge but shipping cost was not applied since I chose super saver shipping. At the bottom of the invoice I see a refund of the total price of the order. It says processing.

I also ordered the surround system and mentioned that the glasses were out of stock. So, they gave me the full credit plus an Amazon credit of $37 for the glasses. Nice job, Amazon.

just curious what your BL, contrast, brightness and temp settings are. When I first got my 8600 it was on warm temp and the whites were definitely dull until I went to cool or med temp.

When I first saw your post and tried medium, I didn't like it. I was using warm settings for all viewing. Then I noticed that the whites were dull and reddish? I switched to Med temp and love it.

I also think it helps to get the sharpness dialed in just right. It will make the words on the screen much crisper. I have mine set a 25.

Well, I would have 2 questions if I was concerned:
Are both TVs calibrated?

Are both TVs calibrated in the same manner?

****BEWARE****

I recently purchased the 55LM8600 from Tiger Direct and received the shipment on Tuesday. I immediately noticed (front of box facing me) that the left upper corner of the box was crushed. I accepted the shipment as there were no perferations or holes in the box although I noted the damage on the shipping receipt and took pictures.

Assembling the stand and setting up the television I didn't notice anything peculiar, until watching some programming later that night. CLOUDING and FLASHLIGHTING visible during 90 percent of television viewing. Disappointed I was going to ride it out for a few weeks to see if it would dissapate after a break in period and then maybe have LG send a tech service the unit if it didn't improve.

This morning I looking over the television I noticed a dent or indentation in the upper left corner of the aluminum back pane almost in the same exact spot as the damaged box the unit was shipped in. This is also where I have the worst flashlighting as well. The LG is going back obviously but the question I have for everyone experiencing greater than normal flashlighting or clouding. Is your aluminum back panel also dented? These are obviously very sensitive panels and I can imagine this slight change in pressure point could corrupt the image.

I will post pictures of the damaged box, back panel and the uniformity issues in the panel.

That is awesome... can you only use this feature on the same network or can we access it away from the network?

Finally got my set today and I think this TV is stunning. Looks pretty good right out of the box. When I get the time in the next couple days I will sit down and use my WOW disc to see what I can come up with to make it even better.

Not professionally but with the WOW calibration disk. I will try and post some photos soon which may show the difference.

same WiFi network, TV has to be on. I don't have VPN setup on my iPhone but I'm guessing with VPN it might work if you're away from home.

Im in a weird situation.

I absolutely love this tv. I love the streaming from my pc, I love the colors, I love the 3D - the passive 3D is a joy, I just love everything about the TV. I do see some light banding, some light leakage from the side (nothing too noticeable) but I can live with all that, it doesn't bother me.

I am looking at just getting a different TV now, and that bothers me greatly given how much I love the tv. Here is what has happened.

I bought the 55LM860V (the 8600 with voice control on magic wand) - I get it home and begin watching a DVD. within an hour, the TV rebooted itself. I switch over to watching TV after the movie. Same problem (a reboot)- TV goes to Life is good screen, then goes back to TV all on its own, a reboot.
This happens over several days - regardless of input. I call LG, they say the TV is DOA and to get a new one. SO I go back to the store, get a new one. This TV does the same thing - so that is 2 TV's now. I move to a new apartment in a different section of the city, TV does the same thing (so it's not a problem with the power) and the new apartment uses a different cable company and different decoder, so it's not that - and like I said, it is source independent (brand new LG Blu-ray player with brand new HDMI expensive cable). I call LG again, and they think it's the main board. So they sent out a tech and they replaced the main board.
When they put in the main board, I lost all of my ability to buy or download premium apps, as well as the 3D world thing where you can watch little 2 minute 3D clips.

Now, all this is also on top of reboots when I watch media server stuff. When I watch media server stuff, ONE time PER thing I watch, it will reboot - only once, and once per thing I watch - that was a minor thing though, and i can deal with that.

So I call LG again - they don't know why i've lost all of my ability to get apps - I suggest to them that my country (Norway) is no longer listed as a selectable country, and as premium content is country dependent, perhaps I received a main board that in not compatible with my country, so it can't download
apps - they think this may be, but the higher-level tech will call me today to discuss. I then mention the media server issue, and the guy on the phone said someone had called them about that today, so that issue is being reported.

I get off the phone with LG, and 30 minutes later, while watching TV, the TV resets. So this new main board didn't fix the problem.

I paid a small fortune for this TV - I shouldn't have to deal with reboots all the time. The media server thing aside (as that can be blamed on the app) a TV just shouldn't do this. Its not my sources, it's not my power, its the TV, and for what I paid, I just shouldn't have to deal
with that. So now Im in the position where my 30 days is almost up, and I have to pull the trigger on either constantly dealing with LG until the TV is fixed or getting a different brand/tv that I may not like as much.. *sigh* just dont know what to do at this point.
2 tv's and a main board later and im kinda fed up..

I went through 3 of these new LG's from Amazon first the 55" LM7600, which had terrible flashlighting and clouding, then I upgraded to the 55" LM8600 which the first one would reboot and reset every 10 Minutes and had bad flashlighting in the upper right corner. I got it replaced again from Amazon for another, and it to had horrible flashlighting and clouding and I also had issues with connecting to wifi. Amazon then starting warning me of returning to many tv's. I insisted they are defective. For $1800+ they better perform better than what I received.

I eventually gave up on LG and got the new Toshiba 55" 55L6200U (it's dual core). This tv beats those LG's hands down.. The 2d picture is better, The passive 3d from my experience is also much better, no flashlighting and best of all I got it on sale for $983! Which is just ridiculous for this tv! Yes new! Not refurb or used. Only problem is Toshiba is a little behind with getting a new solid firmware out for the Apps. but I can live with that because the set is just so good. I'm really stunned.

I really wanted to like the LG's as I liked the stand and design, but after getting this new Toshiba< the slim design is just as good.
