Every other option just makes the screen look crazy.

I was playing GOW 3 on Xbox and when you select 3D in the game it splits the screen vertically, and to see proper 3D full screen I have to select the second option when pressing the 3D button on the remote. It's awesome by the way.

I was pleasantly surprised to know the Web browser supports flash, great even though it gets out of memory very soon after watching for a few minutes!

Anybody having the DSE on this model? Anybody tried biased lighting to hide the top left light bleed?

Howie, how is that remote working out for you?

While reading customer questions on LG's sight for the 55LM8600, the customer support person said the part number for the non magic remote is:
LG AKB73615313

So I'm unsure which of these remotes are the correct one to buy for the 55LM8600.

Here's a quick cut n paste from LG's site regarding the remote to use...

IR REMOTE FOR 55LM8600
While I like the magic remote that the TV came with, I would also like to use it with my Harmony universal remote control. Unfortunately Logitech does not have the code for the "Home" button or the "My Apps" button in their database.
The only way to work around this would be to have a standard IR remote control. Is such a remote control available for this TV?
Thanks,
Hagen.

A standard remote control is available for this television. Accessories can be obtained through our parts distributor, MCM Electronics. Their contact number, for placing orders, is 800-824-9491. The part number for this Standard Remote Controller Assembly is AKB73615313. As for compatibility of either device with your Harmony Remote Control, we can provide no information or recommendations.

Random question... due to how i'm going to have this all set up, there will only be a single HDMI cable going into the HDTV. However, I'll have a harmony set up to switch the inputs up. Can the harmony be programmed to automatically go into game mode when I hit the gaming button? And some other mode when I hit the movie button, even though these will be on the same input? Thanks!

The remote does what I need it to, basically as a supplement for the magic remote. Can quickly change channels, can access the AV and Input modes quickly etc. I'm guessing the one you listed is the one needed since I mentioned I can't access the App page with the one I bought, but hey for $12 I can't really complain.

I have a LG47LM8600 and recently updated to firmware 04.10.11. Today the tv started restarting by itself turning on and off. I have narrowed the problem to the local network. when the tv is not connected to the network it's fine. I have another LG55LM8600 in the theatre room connected to the network and its working fine but with an older firmware. any idea?

Update your plex server to the latest version. This will fix it. Assuming you have plex running on the network.

This is USA firmware. We only are on 4.10.11 in Australia. I'm wanting to upgrade to the USA Version too. Can anyone see any implications from me doing this?

I had the rebooting issue on my 55LM8600 out of nowhere. I even took it back to the store where I purchased (within 30 day return policy.)

Brought home a brand new set, plugged it in, ran through the setup. TV had been on for about 8 minutes because I had to figure out how to connect my old remote to my new TV.
The new remote initialized and I begun the setup again.

The moment I connected it to my wireless network, it began to reboot over and over again. It would stay on for about 20-30 seconds and then reboot.
So this means it's something in my house.

So I waited for it to reboot, and quickly went to settings - option - intial setup to reset it back to factory defaults.

Once set back to defaults and not connected to my wifi it hasn't rebooted since.

THEN I remembered that just prior to the reboot, I was screwing around with PLEX on my computer, as well as UPNP, and port forwarding settings on my router.

I thin it's safe to say that this rebooting issue is network related.
I've had the same setup for about a year now, and I got this TV just before Christmas and it worked fine up until 2 days ago when I started "tinkering' with PLEX and my router.

I'm glad I don't have to bring the tv back.. again. But if you have this problem try disconnecting from your network or resetting the TV back to defaults.

Clearly I'm new here - and didn't see a way to edit my initial post (bear with me). The PLEX client that was causing the issue for me was one that was running on my Synology NAS. I was going to run PLEX from my NAS instead of my PC. But it's looking like my decision is made..

I connected my tv back to wifi and it began shutting off again. Then I stopped the PLEX on my Synology NAS and it turned back on and stayed. Then I started PLEX on the synology again and it began to turn off. Finally, uninstalled PLEX from the synology and the TV is back.

Not sure if it's the version or because I had 2 PLEX clients running simulataneously. (PC & Synology)
There's not an update for the Synology version..

Version 0.9.7.9.375-d056f10

looks to be a common issue with the newest versions of plex... theres a long forum over at http://forums.plexapp.com/index.php/topic/54343-lg-tv-rebooting/ people reporting same kind of issues your running into. I for one have never had the reboot issue and use plex for about 75% of my tv viewing

Box I think it's time to get a knew Xbox 360. I have one aqnd I have zero lag. Well thats not totallyt true. When I turn on 3d mode in Gears of War 3 there is a considerable lag that makes the game unplayable online. I have not really tried anything to fix that problem yet but when I am playing in 2D there is no lag at all.
Again I think u need to upgrade to a knew xbox slim and that will fix your problem. Or if you have a friend witha knew slim ask them to bring it over so u can try it out!!

Thanks for the input. Will try the settings.

I saw quite a number of posts mentioning about the PLEX server issue, which is causing the TV to auto restart so I am afraid of testing the Plex functionality. I instead tried Windows Media Player but many of my movies are in .MKV format & WMP for some reason doesnt get these files in the library list for me to stream it to the TV.

Can anyone suggest, what windows based media server are you using to stream movies, music, pictures from PC to TV? TIA.

I use Windows and run into the same problem. When I do run into this, I put the file on a USB, or a portable HD and either plug it into my router usb port, or the TV. It's a pain, but my plan is really to keep my portable HD plugged into my E4200 router...then I do not even need the PC on or awake...

Hey Guys.
I switched out the broken one I recieved originally and the second one is good so far!
I do notice some bleeding around the top left and right edge.
I tried tightening the screws a little on the back as suggested but did not make a difference.

I have a xbox with both Companent and Hdmi connections. I will hook it up with oth and switch back and forth to see if there is a differnce between the two with lag/performance, etc., and let you know what I find.

A couple of questions?
I can not get the LG logo light to go off when the tv is on. Through the settings I set it to off but it only turns the light off when the tv is off. I get a message saying after 10 minutes the logo light will shut off but it never does when the tv is on.
It really distracts me, even on the dimmest setting. Anybody know how to shut it off?

So far I am really impressed with this tv besides the bleeding around the edges. I Hate the remote!! and will order the one you guys mentioned. Thanks for that.

I need help with your views on extended warranties?
The place I bought it offers a 5 year warranty for $400 Yikes! but if you don't use or need it you get $400 dollars store credit at the end of 5 years.
Their is also Lg, Square Trade, and another online place I can not remember the name of for reduced prices.

What do you think? Should I get one or just hope the 1year man warranty will be enough?

Hey.I also have a 47" LG tv and that remote works with the 55lm8600 also

It is the LG AKB72915206.

You can find them on ebay for $11 dollars.
Hope this helps.

Everyone having the reboot issue needs to update their plex server on the PC. Weather you are using medialink or not. If you have plex server running on a mac/pc/Nas it will cause you TV to reboot. Latest server version is 9.7.11 though a hot fix was issued at 9.7.10

For a media server I think you'll struggle to find a better one than Plex. Especially as its FREE!

kewiwz. You should give plex a try. when its running and your library is setup properly, I truly believe its the best out there. And yes I think Ive tried, played, tweaked and put up with just about everyone out there for several years now but keep returning to plex infact, it was the main reason for me getting an LG - hence retireing my apple TV which had it installed as well.

I've been lazy have had this tv, and keep seeing people posting about streaming from their computer to the tv. Now how is that exactly done? Do you like link/sync up the tv? I did see some option on the tv telling me to go a website to register the comp or something.

Also I see people are having issues when linking up their comp and tv.

Any good suggestions or recommendations on getting this set up.

Thanks in advanced.

Need more info. Did it ever turn on at all? If so how many hours have you watched it? Does the power button on the tv work?

If all else failes. Unplug it for a couple minutes. Plug it back in and press and hold power button for at least 15 seconds then release wait a couple pf seconds and power on.

Hold in the power button on the tv, not the remote.
