I'll be receiving my Panny VT50, next week. So ... I figured, a VT50 settings thread wouldn't hurt.

Are the ISF modes working fine with the Controlcal software, and do you have any calibrated results from any professional ISf calibrators using your software?

multi-points (both w/b and gamma) are fine and behaving as expected with shipping f/w as development, sat/hue cms controls as expected, some odd cms lum control behavior in shipping f/w.. I want to note in regards to the gamut performance on these, I spoke to D-Nice about this and there is a wide variance for Green Luminance performance on the Panasonics, some are right on, some spike and no correction can help.

Several professionals have ControlCAL now for it, you will see more public posts definitely next week, maybe sooner from a few including Chad who got CC a couple days have his calibration (my mistake).

I will never use vivid mode unless I have strobe lights pointed at the screen. This mode is commonly referred to as "torch mode" because everything is jacked brightness contrast etc.. And results in an extremely over bright, out of touch with colors picture.

Heard from Ed Johnson (Calibrator) yesterday who just worked on a VT50 at VE store using ControlCAL... His feedback to me: 46fL in isf Day, grayscale gamma excellent (all 10pt Controls working as expected in ControlCAL and Ed stated he was very impressed with ControlCAL's implementation), color gamut very good despite CMS Lum controls not doing anything (highest deltaE 94 is for Blue lum of 1.0 in the Gamut).. MLL .0022fL (he has Klein K-10).

He's impressed with the VT50 from this initial calibration (didn't get time to view a lot of reference material yet, just was was playing up on the wall)...

EDIT: it was a 65" VT50 Ed calibrated.

Did you get your TV yet. Panasonic is telling me that it is still on pre-order and they are not expecting shipment until the 25th. I think this is B.S.

First of all I want to say these are some initial settings I've come up on my 65VT50. I'm sure as I get more hours on the set it will change.
These settings are from my display and would need to be tweaked on a different display
I came up with these settings using an i1 Pro and ChromaPure. The i1 Pro is not very good at low levels and at 10% my de was about 4. That reading may or may not be accurate. 20% was less than 2de but the rest of the grayscale was less than 1%. The ftL was 36 which would be somewhat dull in a bright room.

I'm a little concerned about the 36 ft lamberts in that during the daytime, my living room is flooded with lots of light.

Have you attempted to punch up the peak whites and if so, what were your results?

Jim, I'm going to attach a txt file that was exported from ControlCal. I don't think you'll have any problem decoding it but it looks confusing. I have it in an xml file but I'm not sure AVS would appreciate me uploading an xml file. If it's ok I'll zip it up and upload it. It's much easier to read.
The file is what I've got for my ISF Cal Day settings and should convert to Custom Mode with no problem. The output on it is 41 ftL which should be fine unless your room is really bright.

A quick question: How does this brightness level of 41ftL compare to the brightness level of the pre-programmed or virgin modes?? I have tried those 2 modes in the showroom and feel they would be adequately bright for my setting, but a little push even brighter would also be welcome.

you are a lot faster than me.
They are not as bright as Bright Room but the Contrast on my Bright Room is 100. That will clip all the brighter whites. I would try the settings and if you need it brighter you can up the Contrast a notch or 2. That will affect the grayscale but it may or may not be minimal. I don't have a lot of light because of trees so it's hard to judge. 41 ftL is too much for me in a dark room though.

I hope to have my ISF Night settings this weekend. I have done one calibration in Night mode but it's in Normal Color Temp. It looks really good but I want to try it in Warm 2.

Those with ControlCAL who want to try them can simply Load his settings file which he posted HERE and Send the settings to your 65VT50 ISFccc memories.

Best to do a calibration yourself and once you do, please do post your calibration reports and Settings File.

Hi wmwilker,

I'm using Calman DIY and an i1 Display Pro- how were you able to adjust the panel brightness (low-mid-high) in the ISF modes? I was able to "unlock" the ISF modes, but only to be controlled within Calman. As soon as I disconnect from the VT50, I can't get into the ISF Day Pro settings (set to "fixed).

Working through the flow in Calman, I couldn't find a setting for panel brightness (just regular black-level brightness), and I really need my "ISF Day" panel brightness to be set to high.

Also, what workflow do you use?

I really not familiar with Calman as I use ChromaPure and ControlCal. The ControlCal has all the controls of the panel. I would think Calman would too. If I were you I'd check Calman's forum and see if you can get some answers there.
I left the panel brightness at Mid and turned up my contrast to where 254 was just clipped. I still had a bar at 253. I'm not sure it that is the correct way to do it but with a ftL @ 41 I'm happy. If there is a better way to do this I hope some of the more experienced calibrators will chime in.
I used the Disney WOW disk to set it and double checked it with the AVS HD and Spears & Munsil disk to confirm.

Yeah I just got ControlCal running. ftL@41 sounds pretty good... the reason why I was looking for the panel brightness option was because I couldn't seem to get past around ~20 ftL with the way it was by default. Trying again with brightness set to high... but I'm curious as to how you were able to do it with mid (my contrast is at 100).

Also, what are AGC, CATS, and Black Level Extension for? I noticed that AGC and BLE were set to non-zero by default in the ISF modes...

You want to have AGC, BLE at 0 and CATS off... with PB at Med and Contrast @ 100 with 100 white 10% windowed pattern, what is your fL reading?
