Calman is a real Calibration software and there for not Cheap. If you want to get into the calibration hobby then yes I would say yes get Calman 5 (at-least) Control and a I1 Display pro. If you just want to input Calman's settings and open ISF modes then just get the cheapest Calman.
However many of the calibration settings that are posted by DIY's are done using Controlcal, and if that's the case you can use Controlcal to open and input these ISF settings.
I don't use Controlcal to input my settings so Controlcal will not work for my setting. Controlcal is a tool to open ISF modes on a VT50 and input settings, its not a calibration program like Calman.

Good info - thank you.
I would love to try my hand at calibration but don't have the time right now. So I will probably just go with ControlCal. I will also take a chance on BB's free calibration, telling them no service menu, and report back on how it went.

I applied the settings I found in Home Theater mag and I think they look terrible.
