#1 is a comet on the back side of the moon with pressure waves
#2 is, umm, I'll just say, 'oddly different'.
#3 is racist
#5 is a city skyline at Christmas.

So I choose 4. lol.

They all lack both Audio/video. Why not combine 3 and 5?

I didn't vote because none of them stick out at me for representing Audio & Video. So, my vote goes for the one shown in Buttabean's Post that I quoted above.

5 is the only acceptable one, all the others will be too annoying since you'll see them a million times.
I liked Buttabean's the best as well, but voted for number 4 out of the available choices.
I like #4. It is clear and to the point.
The room in #4 must be very dusty. Don't like it. I missed the constest. Of these, I'll vote 3
post #38 of 58
Wow. The results are pretty clear.

Unless someone stuffs the ballet box over the weekend.

Not to hurt anyone's fillings -but they all SUCK big time . No "Audio" and WTF with projectors !? But purely esthetically #4 - winner.
- Although, I prefer something like this - involving ordinary people -

I voted for #3 anyway. It still looks good even with a changed background. Some how I keep thinking yellow would look better as a background color than green though.
I think it's quite difficult to judge these without seeing at least a basic color scheme/layout of what the new theme on the forums is going to look like.

That said, I'm puzzled as to why something along the lines of what we see in the AVS logo at the top of the screen wasn't suggested. The odd gold color of the AV and the dull-ish prism colors streaking off does look like something out of the 70s, like an intro logo you'd see on a late 70s or even early 80s or 90s educational VHS. But it fits you know, it grows on you. The logo seems to fit perfectly with the 1995 start date of AVS. Makes me want to hear that strong voice say VIACOM and a cheesy wooshing sound and synth tone as a logo comes in from the corner of the screen. Sorry got lost in nostalgia for a minute!

Yeah I think something like this would have done great as a default avatar:

However I did cast my vote of the 5. I didn't expect so much back and forth of thought on the matter. I wanted number 1 originally because of the modern look. I wanted to choose number 4 afterwards because of the flashy yet easily fallen into the background colors. But I unexpectedly decided to go with number 5 because...well I don't really know why, but I suspect the darker RGB and the duller-ish feel to it reminded me of the AVS logo.

I deal with logos all the time in an unrelated business. Have made tons of them for customers. A properly designed logo will scale well, have crisp hard edge high contrast colors. #4 just stinks. Scale it down and see what happens to it. And what *does* it represent? Hight in a dusty room? My PJ lens doesn't look like that. And what does it have to do with the "A" in AVS? I'm not an audio guy, and I'm not advocating the necessity for audio representation, but the Dirty light beam (or dirty lens or both) does not do anything for my video side. It's a hazy, apparently by design, image that is not a good image for a logo. IMHO.

Edit, Corrected. Originally identified the the wrong one, I meant #4.

It is worth noting... the AVSForum logo is changing (that was determined months ago)... so using the current logo as a basis for anything wouldn't make sense.

Also... they specifically asked to not have "AVSForum" or similar text in the avatar suggestions because they plan on the moderators and such having that kind of labeling didn't want confusion between those users and default user avatars.

Beyond that, criticism and opinion is valid... but those were a couple of "rules" setup in the other thread where they asked for submissions.

I don't necessarily like these either... so I've held my vote back for now because I'm not sure any of these 5 reflect what I wanted to see.

This entire post has no merit because we're looking at default avatars here not logos. As for the scaling, well it doesn't look like any of the logos were resampled when they were scaled down to 80x80 so that's not a fair thing to say either. (Coming from another guy that deals with logos all the time.)

Dude, you really should try a front projector system and then you would understand. j/k

Nothing like a wall size high definition image.

Get your votes in before tomorrow . LOL

BTW this is not for a logo, this is for the default avatar that will show up besides every post by the user name for everyone that does not use a customized personally selected one.

None? Really? pfft.

As for default Avatars, I prefer the previous managements stance of none unless provided by the user. Looking at the same graphic over and over on a thread... why? Add a vote for no default avatar.

I like #4. can't tell why; maybe the glittering things make me think that something interesting hidden.
Yes, I like my imagination. xD
Not many votes overall considering the scope of this site.
I'm frankly shocked.

Missed the voting but I'm with those that say "all four suck".

Voting for #4

Me thinks they needed to place a censor gag line out across the avatar's mouth to truly reflect the constant censorship truths of this forum but of course us children need to be gagged from time to time I guess. It would easily reflect the rules list which is far too long for any avatar.
Those were the choices? Pretty weak group.

Wait until the new site goes live. I'm sure there will be some negative comments there too.
There was a whole thread devoted to user submissions and asking for opinions prior to this poll... That thread had even less participation... so either most users don't have an opinion or will find a reason to complain about whatever choice is made.

For my money... I like their new logo choice, but didn't like the "final five" they narrowed it down to. I thought there were other better avatars in the submissions thread and also wished there was more variety of submissions.

Hilarious! Makes me want to go throw one together. LOL

Smaller, will give a different visual impression, which is very important to see them in the proper range. God never treat human beings totally fairly, he give male strong body, but some Leather shoulder bags to female, think about the truth of this world, we'll find the Women leather bags can be the finally answer!
