What powered subs have the worst reliability for amps breaking and subs blowing? - Page 4

how about a custom sub? go to PWK Designs... let him know what drivers and amp you are using and he can custom design a sub for you. He has some software that calculates the parameters of the box once he gets the speaker's parameters. He says its best that he gets the actual speaker to verify the driver TS settings to design the cabinet... He can either sell you the blueprints or build the cabinet for you... He can design the sub for maximum output, low frequency extension or a combination thereof...

does pwk do car systems also? I typed Pwk on youtube and it shows car systems. He isn't friends with Steve Mead is he? I don't like that guy. He is rude, cocky, and a smart ass. many reports have been writing online from customers who said that he threatened to post there personal info and do stuff with it because they were mad at him for not honoring his own warranty.

I think they do custom work for cars as well... His name is Peter W. Kulicki... don't know about Steve Mead...

oh ok Storm. I worry that he will go deaf from the loud stereos that he makes. That other forum post is 5 pages long of people who don't like him.

I don't have any more questions for now. I will get back to you with what I have heard recently.

I had to go, but I saw this at the store today. B&W PV1 Active Subwoofer.
Has anyone heard this? what do you think about it?

Not to sound like a jerk here because everyone on this board has been "new to the scene" at one time or another, so this is just honest advice.

Read the heck out of this forum and give some thought to this sticky:
http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=989316

Particularly these questions:
1. Your budget.
2. Size requirements/limits.
3. Room dimensions.
4. Primary uses.
5. Listening habits.
6. Appearance requirements.
7. Timeframe.

There isn't one question you've asked so far that couldn't have been answered with a couple nights of studying. There is a STAGGERING amount of information in this forum with only a search box standing between the two of you. After you've done that, post a thread with concise answers to those 7 questions and realistically, you won't get more than a handful of recommendations for any given set of criteria.

I think Epik should be on your list to buy from. In every instance I've seen Chad has "made it right" ... I may be wrong, but it seems like most of the amp issues I've seen have been on their older lines ... My Empire has been solid for me, and I think it'd be hard to find a better sub at that pricepoint.

I had 4 Empires. I had 2 Empires with bad amps and the guy that bought them from me had the other 2 Empire amps go bad.

I had the Dragon and Legend. The Dragon's amp lasted almost 3yrs until it went on me. Chad replaced the amp under warranty. Legend - 2 amps when on me. Chad decided to send me a brand new sub because he thinks it's the drivers that had problem. Sold both subs.
