Need software for my Homerun dual tuner

I just added a Homerun dual tuner for some computer based recordings. I played with WMC a bit but found it difficult to use.

Please recommend some free alternatives to WMC and some yearly subscription TV listings.

I don't have internet access regularly. Have to go a public place to get access. It would be great if there is something TV listings that I can download every few weeks or so.

Thank you for your help.

WMC is about as easy as it gets imo. Can you be more specific about the problems you were having so we can figure out what you're looking for?

Also, there are number of guides posted on this forum to help you through WMC.

The Silicone Dust software was updated April 5 (or so) so you need to somehow get that small bundle to get full funcionality. Then re-run the setup, and use Silicone's own interface (IIRC first page of the setup). You can find the setup program under PROGRAMS->siliconedust if you are using win7.

The TV lineup listings, assuming you are using Over The Air tuners, you'll need to download from Zap2it.

I have the latest software from Silicon Dust. Tuners work fine except I don't get PBS. In Houston, that's 8.1.

My trouble with WMC using Win7 on a 2 year old laptop are:

1. I can't download Tv listings using WMC. There is no option to that. So I figured I need to update WMC.

2. I can't update WMC by itself.

3. I can't go to different channel randomly like I can with a TV remote. WMC only lets me change channels sequentially.

1) Open WMC
TASKS menu > Settings > TV > Guide > Download latest guide listings
If you don't have that option you don't have your tuners set up properly in WMC - you need to set up your tuner
TASKS menu > Settings > TV > Set up your TV Tuner...
2) You can manually update WMC, above
3) What remote are you using?

There are currently no free alternative guides in the US that I know of - I would love a link to a valid webpage when someone says there is one rather than saying "you need to download... from ..."

Zap2It doesn't let you download the guide data anymore, they used to, but no longer. There is schedulesdirect.org which is $25 per year (and that's a not for profit organization trying to get the schedules to people who want them) and then you can use BigScreenTV add for WMC ($20 for 2 year license) that puts the data into WMC, which is designed more for our friends in Europe.

If you are not getting a channel (you mentioned PBS), that's not WMC, that's your antenna.

Thank you for all the help. I don't use a remote control for WMC. I think I can live with manual recording for now. I am using the same antenna I use for my Dvico Tvix DVR which gets the PBS station just fine. For some reasons the Homerun doesn't get this channel.

Also, there are 2 green lights on the Homerun indicating the 2 tuners. Do both tuners get the same stations? I am thinking maybe the PBS station is in the other tuner and to get that channel I have to activate that other tuner.
