I just used their website and forum. I set it up ages ago so cant rememeber the exact process.

Personally I have a simple setup.

I started a new profile, added my remote (this can be tricky, you have to find exactly what your infra red sensor is called. Then configured a lot of keyboard buttons, i.e. up arrow, down arrow, page up/down etc.

Then I would press a button on the remote and they would appear in the left hand side of the pane, drag and drop the command onto the keyboard function I wanted, saved the profile and was done.

Eventghost can be simple or almost as complex/powerful as you want it!
I would recomend just start by configuring your remote and getting eventghost to recognise all its inputs, then working on mapping them to where you want.

Media Portal now has CableCARD Support

Why isn't this posted in this thread?

Good call - thanks for posting it.

Not that you should have but whoever posted it no avs should have put it here with a link to it from the "news" threads.

I just found out that this is the rule and not the exception. I don't think that is good. Guess I'll be checking the news section more often in case I miss something like the LCD price-fixing class action lawsuit.

Hi All,

Just to let you know, that MediaPortal 1.3.0 Beta has just been released.

There are many improvements, including being able to configure the client software from the 10 ft GUI, as well as a new default skin!

Oh, and you can opt to automatically install CODECS during the installation process (in the form of LAV filters), which will mean that it will work out of the box without any CODEC configuration (unless of course, you want to self configure them, in which case MP still has the same configurablity that advanced users know and love)!

The MediaPortal Installation and Setup Guide (sticky) should still work (although there may be some slight changes to some of the screens).

Enjoy.

As an old-school MediaPortal user I feel this new installation guide overlooks specific mention of the MPC-HC Video Codec. It was considered "the best" codec according to the original guide and I don't see it in this new guide. Please, I find the MPC-HC codec is flawless when it comes to playback of .m4v and some .mkv files that the MSDTV-VideoCodec won't play.

MediaPortal 1.3.0 Final has been released!

Does this release support copy protected cable card content?

Found this:

"The team is being quite up-front that there is no chance of MediaPortal receiving CableLabs certification, so MediaPortal will only be able to provide access to non-DRM channels and "Copy Freely" content"

It's the same for everything except Windows Media Center unfortunately.

Which was EXACTLY the point I was trying to make -- folks are searching for a magic pill to dethrone MS and WMC to tune a CableCard all without luck.

Well some providers still mark most channels copy freely so it isnt as bad as it sounds. Unfortunately I am not so lucky and my provider marks everything besides local broadcast copy-once, so i have no choice but to use WMC for live tv.

Hey guys,

Not sure if many of you are aware but mediaportal now has a plugin to work with MB3 server.

http://forum.team-mediaportal.com/threads/plugin-mediabrowser-3-client-for-mediaportal.119513/

I think it could be very interesting the combination between MB3 and mediaportal...not too sure of it's capabilities with mediaportal right now but I think it may be worth giving a shot.
