I dont want to use a receiver with my turn table

fwiw, parts express has the art dj pre2 phono pre amp for $48and add a lepai tripath amp for $25 and your set to go. small enough to hide behind turntable with enough power and very good sound also parts express has no questions asked 45 day returnand if product is defective they will send you new one no cost to you. imo for their prices i think these are two of the industries best componets to come out in a long time you'll be very suprised with their sound . better than some $300 and higher receivers and amps that i haved owned. just my 2 cents

The Rega Brio R is an excellent compact integrated amplifier (less than 9 inches wide) with a built-in high quality phono stage. That should do what you want and give great sound quality.

+1 for the Lepai tri-amp. Great sounding amp. I'm pleasantly surprised each time I go out to the garage and turn it on. It is amazing what technology is giving us - and for so little money.

Its never been a problem. Right now I have a Marantz 15S1 TT sitting on top of a HK 3390 receiver. They never even come close to hot. About 2" of air in between and completely open all around.
Now if it was an Onkyo AVR, that might be a different thing.

Yes, the Brio R would be all you need (apart from the turntable and speakers, but you already knew that).

The Brio R is a great sounding amp (I have the pleasure of getting paid to say that) but if your primary concern is size, you might want to look at the Pro-Ject mini components, which are even smaller.
