As an aside, the Darbee put off my upgrade to an RS55. I'll probably wait another generation or two now.

I've read that the darbee may have compatibility problems with pioneer receiver....signal problems...can anyone comment on that?

Works fine with my SC-57.

Anybody using with a Pioneer VSX-1121K receiver? I just ordered a Darbee from AVS a few days ago, can't wait to try it out with my set-up (Comcast RNG200N cable box, Roku and Panasonic Blu-ray DVD player all passed thru the Pioneer receiver to a Panasonic 60GT50 TV).

I had problems with the Motorola 3400 and 3416 cable box with my Pioneer TXH-94 receiver and the Darblet. No problem with the RNG110 box though. Another poster in the Video Processor forum reported all okay with the RNG200, but I don't recall what receiver he had.

The Darblet comes well recommended from me. Just like most things in life, it's best in moderation. I like HD mode at 55% for just about everything.

^ ^ ^ 50 to 60 works for me on my Mitsu 82". Avatar showed what the Darbee can do.

I have the same set paired with the pioneer 1326...Please let us know of your impressions :-)

I ordered my 2 sets from AVS and received it with latest software , AVS learnt that I were using Lumagen Mini from my previous postings and delayed my shipment till the fix is ready . I am in Hong Kong and apparently the first one here to try out the Darbee - all I can say is that it works perfectly and as most of you described , just set it to 40-55% and you can't go wrong . I have the 2nd set tried out by my friends , all were amazed and wanted one immediatly , one drawback is that the few ones who wanted to upgraded their PJs are now intending to add a Darbee instead , it really transforms your pictures from lacking to sufficient .

The Darbee arrived today, and I've been playing around with it for a couple hours now. I have to say, I am pretty impressed so far! Set up was easy. No HDMI handshake issues or other problems. Really makes a noticeable improvement on all the content I've tried: HD cable TV, Roku, PC and Blu-ray. Like it is removing a haze from the picture that I didn't realize was there before. Nice!

Right now I have it set to Gaming at 58%. I'll continue to play around with it, but that seems to be a pretty good setting to my eyes with my setup. I also turned down the brightness on the LEDs -- a bit too bright and distracting on the default setting.

I received my Darbee today and tried it with 3 different sets - One is a 67" Samsung LED DLP, another is an LG 47" LED LCD model 7600, and finally a Sony HW30 projector. I tried it out first on the DLP and noticed very little difference and was disappointed. The Samsung DLP is one of the sharpest TVs I have ever owned so I wasn't expecting the world, but the difference to my eyes wasn't there. I took it downstairs to the "cave" and hooked it up to my HW30 and was blown away with the difference. I played with the HD setting and the POP setting and found I like the POP much more with this projector as HD doesn't seem to do much in terms of the sharpness. On the LG LCD it made some difference along the lines of the DLP but nothing mind blowing like the projector. I spent a good hour just watching various material I am familiar with and switching it on and off to see the difference. Overall with the HW30 I highly recommend this unit and keeping it between 40-50%. Anything above this and the picture started to look really off, almost like the objects in the foreground were too sharp and the colors were off (hard to explain) even though the projector is calibrated.

A question - What do you guys prefer for regular program viewing such as DirecTV HD? To me the POP setting did much more than the HD on DirecTV but I kept going back and forth on what actually looked better. I noticed on the HD setting that objects still had a "softer" look than the POP setting. I was curious if the HD setting should only be used with Blurays that are 1080P and anything else should stick with POP? The manual isn't too clear on HD other than it should be used for 1080p material.

Great purchase for the price IMO.

Did you try Pop with your LED DLP? I run my 61" same set as yours at 70-80 in Pop and have found in general, even with a W7000 DLP projeftor that the mirrors seem to take more aggressive settings and also Pop well, with clean sources, a bit more than JVC LCOS. (have RS50)

So I am gathering from the many posts on this thread that the Darbee shows the most significant improvement on projectors and/or large screen displays in excess of 70". Would this be the general consensus?

These general questions probably best over in the Video Processors forum Darbee thread, as originally I think this thread started here with someone having one of those very fine, over $20,000 units. But yes.......with clean sources generally the larger imaged equipment.....especially projection....can really shine and be more apparent, but still reported benefits by many on smaller displays.

I've had my Darbee for 2 weeks and have only watched it on my 70" Sharp.
Either BRD rips of HBO True Blood, and several sports -> golf, football, etc.
IMO this box is a no-brainer. For me, set it at 50 ( Green or Yellow ) and forget about it.
HD-cable has plenty enough flaws, so whatever additional flaws the Darbee might introduce, are far outweighed by its contrast & sharpening benefits, IMO.

I FINALLY got around to hooking up on my JVC RS65 shooting on my 120" Silverstar ( eventually to be replaced with 11' wide scope HiPower or DNP 2.3 )
Watching LOTR-ROTK first thing I did was reduce the JVC e-Shift setting from 3 to 2 -> too much film grain at 3.
Also for the helluvit, set the JVC sharpening and noise reduction to 0.
I set Darbee to 40-50-60 and used either Green or Yellow mode, Red is just too aggressive.
Let's just say the Darbee knocked my socks off.
Turning Darbee off, made the image now appear blurry in comparison, though obviously it was stellar before the Darbee was introduced.
Again, no brainer, set it at 40-45-50 and fuggetaboutit !

I really like what I'm hearing about the DD .... However, I have a Pioneer Kuro Elite, PRO-151FD TV. I've been doing a lot of review reading about the Darblet and I think I remember reading something about there not being much improvement when used with the Pioneer Kuro Elite because of it's already enhanced video processing. Anyone have any feedback on that?

I have the prior Kuro and the DD is definately discernable (positively) at 12 feet. When I asked for the house opinion there was no hesitation..."much more 3D-like".

What does the device do to high frequency patterns ?

This post mentions text, but keep in mind the Darbee creates an odd artifact on some text and most subtitles (there is a photo way back in the other Darbee thread...) It links some of the letters together, but is hard to notice it you're busy reading them. It hasn't bothered me but I can see it bothering some people, especially if they watched a lot of subtitled films.

Agree, there are artifacts with text. A good test is pull up your guide of your cable/sat provider and toggle the darbee on and off.
