Trying to update a multiroom HT System

Hi there,
My dad has a very cool 2 rooms HT system but it was installed many years ago and many things are not working right and I want to update it for him but I'm still trying to figure out how.

The main room has 4 bose speakers and subwoofer, a Bose Lifestyle 20 music system, Gemini PT-1000 turntable, LCD Tv, HDTV Decoder and a Denon 5.1 AVR 5700 Receiver.

The second room is a big living room, with 5 Bose speakers and a subwoofer with a super old big bulky projector. The projector will be updated to a smaller digital projector with HDMI that I already bought.

The reason I want to update it is because the current receiver doesn't have HDMI capabilities and for some reason the sound is not working on zone 2 where the projector is.

My question is what would be the best way to update this system?
I'm thinking the solution is to buy a receiver with 2 HDMI outputs so I can get HD on both TV and the zone 2 projector. Is this correct?
And I'm wondering how to connect all the speakers, from zone 1 and 2, to a receiver that is not a 9.2 receiver?

And my final question: would the Yamaha RX-A810 be a good choice for my case?

Hope someone can help me out since I've been looking for more information about this without much success.
Thanks!

The first thing I'd update besides the receiver is the Bose speaker and "bass module" setups to something a lot better. Start with the projector room. You knew that was coming. Your dad will thank you big time as he'll hear things he never has before with movies and his record collection.

You need to get a small, basic (cheap) surround receiver for the main room and get a fancier one for the room where the projector is going to be located (that should be the real main theater system with Blu-ray, better speakers and a good sub, etc.).

It would be just too complicated to marry those two systems with one receiver and work them independently, especially since both rooms have multiple speaker layouts. It looks okay on paper, but in real-world situations, you'll pull your hair out trying to use only one.

I'm drooling over the new Onkyo 818 coming out soon, but the 717 might be okay for your dad for the "better" receiver choice.

717 would be a Gourgues bit of kit for your dad
