looking to upgrade my ascend acoustics system
i have
Ascend acoustics 340SE's (LCR)
and
Ascend acoustics 170SE's as surrounds



looking at the Polk Audio TSI500's (LR) not sure which polks to get for center and surrounds


Are these considered upgrades?

what do u recommend?

budget up to $1500 for a 5.0 system

That would be considered a down grade. It's going to be very hard to best that $1100 Ascend setup for only $400 more. What exactly do you think you're lacking from your current setup?

Polk TSi's wont be an upgrade over those Ascends. What's wrong with your Ascend setup?

nothing wrong with them,but i am getting upgrade fever
what would u consider an upgrade?
or maybe i should just stick with the ascend acoustics and get another pair of 170's and go 7.1 or even 7.2?

how about the Klipsch RF-82 II Reference Series or the
Energy RC-70 Floorstanding Speaker

What are you running for a sub? Dual subs can give a large upgrade to bass quality.

I would still aim higher > look at subs, or save up for Ascend tower speakers.

In order to actually upgrade and not go sideways or downward (like with the Polk's) from where you are, you must first raise your budget... tack on at least another grand or so.

I'm very serious here. Otherwise, you'll just be gnawing around the edges rather than getting speakers you'll truly be happy with.

ok then ,say i up my budget another $1000 to $1500 what do u recommend?

Eh still don't see any viable upgrade that could bring a smile to your face...unless you want to buy old speakers that are considered good lol

Aperion Audio:

Verus Grand Tower (front), Grand Center, Grand bipole/dipole (surround).

PSB:

Image T6 (front), Image C5 (center), Image S5 (surround)

Just a few suggestions in that price range.

after much thinking i decided that i am going to save up and buy the sierra towers
maybe soon
but i am getting another EX sub

For the price, they certainly are, and a worthwhile upgrade is going to cost substantially more.

Good idea, as the Sierra Tower is a tremendous value for its class, and there is also the Sierra STC, better known as the Horizon, if you need a horizontally-oriented center speaker to match:

The CBM-170 SE is more than sufficient for surrounds, and if you plan to go to 7.2, then you could buy another pair, buy a pair of HTM-200 SEs, or move your 170s to the back channels and use your 340s for the side surround channels.
