The wall behind my subwoofer is rattling. Help!

I have the SVS PB2+ down firing subwoofer. For the last few months I thought IT was rattling, tore into it, tested woofers out elsewhere in the system, driving myself nuts. Tonight I began beating on it out of frustration. Inadvertently my fist hit the wall behind it, and found it made the metallic rattling sound as I did so lol.

I then moved the sub out from the corner, tried a scene and no more rattle. Who says violence isn't the answer?

So wtf can I do about that? All I can think is find the studs and drive lots screws into them. Any other ideas?

Did they use metal studs? You could also try adding another layer of drywall or other mass to the wall. And yes try screwing the piss out of the first layer. Possibly the drywall is rattling against a pipe or duct in the wall, if so be sure you know where the studs are when you add more screws.

Whew, problem solved with 5 screws into the stud! No metal studs, it sounded metallic to the ears, but more likely it was the sound of the dry wall squeaking. I can't believe in the end it was so simple and easy to solve! lol I feel really vindicated that it's not the sub. 5-6 years of earth shattering bass and the sub still works like a champ!

I'm currently walling my future ht room with 5/8" drywall onto metal studs. I used adhesive for the ceiling drywall but my helpful friends/family who are aiding with the difficult construction have convinced me that it's overkill for the walls. Any thoughts about this? I have never owned a ht system before so I don't know how common a wall rattle can be with metal studs. Thanks.
