Never used them, but they are a denon authorized dealer, selling refurb items.

Have bought many items. Excellent customer service, low prices, and authorized dealer.

Never bought anything from them but, customer service was top notch when I was talking to them before my receiver purchase. Very quick to reply to my emails and really helpful. Don't know how post sale service would be though...

If looking for a discount I would check Vanns clearance/outlet. Last I looked they had several open box/refurbs. They have excellent customer service pre and post sale (I know from experience). Not sure if the prices are as good or not as I haven't done a comparison.

AC4L.com is not shady in the least. Some buyers may have a bad experience for a host of different reasons but the company is well thought of. I have bought there many times through the years with nary a hitch. And the one time I found a problem with something ordered, their contact and service was great.

I have bought a few items from them before. I was always happy with he product and service.

love em. had great experiences using them in the past.

I've bought a refurbished Onkyo and a refurbished Marantz from them in the past.

Onkyo looked brand new with no problems.

Marantz was in very good condition and had an issue (noise in one of the outputs). AC4L immediately sent me a replacement unit in the same condition with no problems.

I wouldn't hesitate to buy from them again.

I bought some KEF speakers as well as a refurb receiver through them and it was a great experience both times.

Mucho good. No shady.

My two experiences with them were very good.

Got to go against the grain here... bad times. They'll never see another dime from me. Great price doesn't mean much when they ship out non-working units. First was a complete brick... 2nd lasted a week. Then I was told they WOULDN"T ship me a third. Kept my $$ for almost 2 months, and still deducted shipping charges.
NEVER AGAIN !!

^^
AC4L is simply a "reseller" of the refurb units they receive from the mfr. If you receive a defective product, it more than likely came that way from the mfr, so blame the mfr, not AC4L. Also, after 2 defective products in a row, I would likely hesitate before shipping a 3rd out as well without discussing further with the mfr and buyer. Also, more often than not, a "defective" AVR has no issue whatsoever, rather it was a result of the buyer simply not understanding how to set up the product. As a result of this, with Denon AVRs in particular, Denon has stepped in to the process and will troubleshoot the issue prior to any return to AC4L.

funny, they were accusatorial also.
All I did to the first one was plug it in. Never could get anything beyond the standby light. 2nd one was great... for a week. Then no signal over HDMI. I was already aware of this problem, but being a 'factory refurbished unit', I was 'hoping' it had been taken care of.

It wasn't user error. Not my first AVR, nor my first Onkyo refurb. I have purchased a few from ShopOnkyo, and no problems at all. First was a HTIB ($100 when they were clearing out 6.1 units), some 5 years ago, recently given to a friend who had undergone surgery and home-bound for a month. Still flawless (speakers were crap, but the receiver fine, and still is).
4 year old SACD / DVD player ($50), enjoying some Floyd as I type.
3 year old 'compact shelf' system, flawless and in use in my living room to this day.
And going on 17 months on my 707, so out of warranty, but for less than $300, it won't be huge when the HDMI board does eventually die. And when the issue came up about an 'incorrect' Audyssey microphone, they sent me another, overnight shipping. Turns out it was a mistake on the printing on the box the mic came in, but when I offered to send the other one back (on my dime), they said no, just keep it 'in case'. Class act.

I do wonder if Onkyo sends the really crappy units (refurbed multiple times?) to their authorized resellers and keeps better units to sell themselves. Pure speculation.

The shady part was when they recommended going to the Marantz 7005, which they would be getting in (was told a specific day), and when I checked that day, was already listed as 'Sold Out'. So I called ACfromHell, and was told sorry, there was nothing else they could do for me. Still took a month to get a partial refund. And yes, I did see on their website the disclaimer about not refunding original shipping charges , but I only purchased from them based on the 'glowing' recommendations I saw here.
So I will not sit here without at least throwing in my 2 cents. Take it as you wish. At the very least, I'd recommend ONLY buying from them if the item includes FREE shipping, as you won't be out a penny IF you have as bad an experience as I did.

Better prices and customer service buying directly from Shoponkyo, In my experience. There are obviously many, many people here who've had no problems with AC... , but not all. I wish you luck.

I think it's good to remember, that for various reasons, not everyone will have same experience.

For example, I used to play Civ V. Worked mostly fine for me. But other people had serious issues with no workarounds. That means Civ V was good AND bad.

So I would not assume, just because one person had good experiences, and another did not, that the problem was the person.

Of course, if you read a lot of user reviews, you will also see the super negative person for almost anything.

So gather all reviews, read between the lines, and make the best decision.

( I post this, because I see a tendency to shoot the messenger here sometimes, and the messenger may not be the one to blame, or maybe they are...but give the messenger the benefit of the doubt.)

Good experience. Bought an 4311CI from them, changed my mind after I got it, never opened the box, got an RA, and shipped it back. Had the credit for the full amount in less than 3 days. (Just out my return shipping.) I'd definitely do biz with them again.

They're good. But don't EVER use the BBB to assume a company is good. The companies themselves pay to be listed by the BBB, and the BBB doesn't really care that much.

Much better are sites like www.resellerratings.com. Not that they're perfect, but as long as a company has a good number of reviews, it's more reliable than the BBB.

You should be fine buying either one from A4L if Marantz is what you want. They're a good brand but they tend to be less cost effective (and in some ways, less in features) than Denon (which is owned by the same company as Marantz).

If Marantz were what I wanted then I would probably buy one of those from A4L, myself.

Thanks, do you think denon sounds better or just extra things.
I can get a marantz 6006 or a denon 3312. For about the same price Which one is better?
